Got yours z02. I'm thinking of doing 6-10 NLSC'ers per draft. Priority will be given to those who participated in Nellieball's festivities, then after that, its first-come-first-serve.

People who PM'ed their forms to me, rather than cluttering this topic get priority

I'm hyped up, good luck whenever you face the Heat man. :P

Also add me, you have my info as I can see. And don't push to the next draft just because I'm on the Heat bandwagon. :D

Keep the hype train a-rollin'! Still working on my rosters. Pretty happy with the ratings and rotations now, but I'm undecided whether to wait until free agency ends, let the CPU finish the free agent signing for me, or assign the major FA's myself. Also, updating contracts is a bitch.

Martti and Dare are confirmed members of the 2011 draft class. Priority given to those who followed Nellieball and participated in predictions, but most of you will make it in, and if not, will make the 2012 class. I'd appreciate it a lot if Badger and Chaimer_23 would edit their forms and send them in a PM, so as not to clutter the thread (and improve your chances of being in the 2011 class!).

The games shall begin in a few days. Go Raptors!

2009-10 Toronto Raptors Season In Review

Image
Jose Calderon displays the epitome of the Toronto Raptors experience.

June 21, 2010 - The NBA season has come and gone, and once again, our beloved Craptors are coming off a disappointing season. After a fairly promising Summer which brought in the likes of Hedo Turkoglu, Jarrett Jack, DeMar DeRozan among others, the Raptors were expected to make the playoffs. Toronto disappointed coming out of the gate, starting with a dismal 7-13 record. A very easy schedule helped us improve to a 29-24 record, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference.

Then, injuries happened. Chris "The RuPaul of big men" Bosh went down with a knee injury, and after instilling hope by defeating a pair of scrub teams, we dropped nine of ten games to fall back under .500. Upon his return, we battled the Bulls in a half-hearted for the eighth seed. In what would likely be his last game in a Raptors uniform, Bosh broke his face against the Cavaliers, and would not return. Without Bosh, we finished with a 40-42 record, "good" for ninth in the West, one game behind Chicago. And so, there once again was no post-season action in T-Dot.

Image
The end of an era.

While our 40-42 record would suggest that we were a mediocre team, we were actually worse. Our Pythagorean Record was a dismal 36-46. Our defensive rating of 113.2 was the worst in the league. The 12-70 New Jersey Nets, and Don Nelson's Warriors defended better than out Craptors! There was nothing wrong with our 3rd best offensive rating, but if and when Bosh leaves, we'll likely fall into the bottom half on that end as well.

In his contract year, Chris Bosh was by far our best player. When he was out, we were absolutely turrible. He averaged career and team highs of 24 points per game, 10.8 boards and a PER of 25. Unfortunately, he missed a dozen games, and once again failed to lead us to the playoffs. After burning multiple bridges, and demanding a maximum contract from a mediocre team already over the cap, it looks like this was the last season of the Bosh era. Good riddance?

Enter Andrea Bargnani: Bosh's likely replacement. The tall Italian averaged a career high 17.2 points, but grabbed a disappointing 6.2 boards per game, despite starting at Center and being seven feet tall. Amir Johnson, the first big off the bench, was arguably our second best player this season, but averaged a staggering 7 fouls per 40 minutes. Hedo Turkoglu, our big free agency acquisition sucked. He averaged just 11 points per game, on 41% shooting. He was so bad that, even with his 8-figure contract, was relegated to the bench. Jose Calderon, once a fringe all-star and historically accurate free throw shooter shot under 80% from the stripe (after shooting 98% in 08-09!) and was benched due to having especially poor defense (on the Raptors).

One of the few bright spots was the young duo of DeMar DeRozan and Sonny Weems. DeRozan, picked 9th in the 2009 draft hasn't made the same impact one Wince Carter did in his rookie season here, but averaged 8.6 points and 3 boards on a shade under 50% shooting. "Heir Canada"'s ceiling is high, and is likely our new franchise player by default. Sonny Weems was cheaply acquired from the Denver Nuggets, and has become good friends with DeRozan. Weems' ceiling isn't as high has DeMarvelous, but he proved to be just as good of a starter as Hedo Turkoglu for what its worth. It should be interesting to see how this tandem pans out. We'll probably see a lot of it next season.

With several players expiring at the end of the year, but $50 million still on the cap, the future still looks bleak. Our team struggled to defeat even the scrubbiest of teams with Bosh out. We are about to suck. If this season seemed bad, just wait until the next few. Andrea Bargnani, Hedo Turkoglu and Jose Calderon are under contract for several years to come, and you can bet another Euro who can't defend will be on his way this summer via the MLE. Thanks a lot Colangelo. Now if you'll excuse me, I need a drink.
