Week 11 In Review

January 23, 2011 - Another .500 week keeps us a handful of games out of the playoff picture. The heartbreaking thing was that our two losses were very winnable, with them going to overtime and a game-winning 3 respectively. The team did show promise though. DeMar DeRozan didn't play very well, but veterans Shaquille O'Neal and Hedo Turkoglu stepped up with some big numbers. If we continue to play like we have this week, there's a good chance we'll get the opportunity to be swept by one of Florida's super teams in the playoffs!

NBA.net wrote:Raptors Easily Dispatch Dirk-Less Mavericks

January 17, 2011 - The Dallas Mavericks' decade-long streak of 50 win seasons appears to be coming to an end. With Dirk out of the rotation due to injury once again, his Mavericks were destroyed by the mediocre (at best) Raptors 102-86. Shaquille O'Neal led the way with 18 points and 6 boards, while Hedo Turkoglu flirted with a triple double. Jason Terry scored a game-high 26 points, but it was not enough. The loss drops the Mavs to 2 games out of the 8th seed in the West.

NBA.net wrote:Cavaliers Hold Off Raptors In Overtime

January 19, 2011 - Shaquille O'Neal had a big game against his former team, but it was not quite enough, as the rising Cleveland Cavaliers held them off for a 127-122 win, that needed 5 extra minutes to be resolved. Antawn Jamison led the way with a season high 35 points (to go with 9 boards). The Cavaliers gt off to a very slow start in their first post-LeBron season, but have gone 15-10 since their 4-14 start. The win puts them in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Delfino's Clutch 3 Gives Bucks Win Over Toronto

Delfino wins the game! | Thabust failed to impress.

January 20, 2011 - Thank you God, Allah, Zeus, Jaesus, Mohammed, etc. etc. etc. And most of all, thank you Del3no! Our three game skid comes to an end with a thrilling win over the visiting Toronto Raptors. Carlos Delfino had just 8 points on 2-7 shooting, but he came through when it mattered, sinking a clutch trey with 4.4 seconds to go to give us the win over the Raptors.

The Raptors got off to a fast start, but their lack of defense kept us in it. Andrea Bargnani was playing very well, making up for DeMar DeRozan's off night. In the second, we made a run, led by a couple of key stops. Leandro Barbosa kept the Craptors in the game, but we entered the half up 9. The third quarter was more of the game, before Toronto made a huge fourth quarter comeback.

With Bargnani scoring at will, and Jarrett Jack quietly having a great game, Toronto managed to take a one point lead, off a Shaq dunk with just 12 seconds left in the game. Skiles drew up a play that was likely for John Salmons, but he was doubled so the ball ended up in the cold hands of Carlos Delfino. Swish. Hedo Turkoglu missed a contested midrange jumper at the buzzer, and we won it, 103-101, ending our four game losing streak, and putting the Raptors 7 games below .500. We will face them in Toronto two days from now.

For now though, GO BUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!

NBA.net wrote:Raptors Avenge Loss, Defeat Bucks At Home

January 22, 2011 - Carlos Delfino's game-winning three was a dagger in the heart for the Raptors' fleeting playoff hopes. On their home floor, the Raptors were able to avoid further bleeding by defeating the Bucks 112-99. DeMar DeRozan once again had a quiet game, but The Big Fossil shouldered the load, scoring 18 points on perfect shooting from the field. The game was all Toronto from start to finish, with Milwaukee never leading. The loss dropped the Bucks to 6th place in the East.

 You put the Pacers logo for the Cavaliers recap.

Craptors are still crap unfortunately. :( At least Shaq and Turkoglu are still performing well. Spurs FTW!!! :headbang:

Martti., Yeah, he's hard to stop. Had to play Jack almost the entire game because Mills, Barbosa and Turk got torched.

Axel., Fixed. I always make a mistake or two but copying my templates saves so much time. Once deleted an entire recap on accident doing so though.

William Sit, Shad O'Greene To Play Televised Game At Rucker Park
Image January 24, 2011 - 2011 draft hopefuls William Sit and Shad O'Greene may not be household names, but that could very well be changing soon. The two international players will play a game to 11 at New York's Rucker Park on January 28. The game will be televised on LSPN 2 (Lamrock's Sports Programming Network 2).

Sit, 21, is a combo guard who is projected to be a first round draft pick. He is the front-runner to win the NBL MVP award and has been called by (very few) "The Asian-Australian Kobe". O'Greene, 28, is a 6'8", defensive-minded combo forward, who has dominated the PBA for many years. Due to his age and lack of offensive skills, he is projected to go in the second round. However, a win here could improve his draft stock.

The winner of the game will receive a sum of $10,000 USD, which they will then donate to a charity of their choosing. When asked what charities they would choose, Sit answered "The Kobe Bryant China Fund", while O'Greene suggested "The Human Fund".

Well, I took it seriously and went out to prove you all right by going 1-20 tonight. :) And we won by 2.

But my defence was good. Held the other team's best player to 3 points in the second. And was devastated to hear that he scored 38 points in the second game of the season against the team I scored 36 against a few weeks ago. (N)

1-20 iis a bit of an exaggeration but it definitely was not flattering. I also missed 2 free throws with 15 seconds left that could have ice the game. Ah well, this is what you get when you pick up a ball once a week. :(
