NOVEMBER 2010 RECAP PART 2

December 2, 2010 - The inaugural month of the 2010-11 season has been an exciting one. It has been highlighted by the rise of several teams, budding all-stars and what could be the closest rookie of the year race in years. While the month has not been a particularly exciting one for the Raptors, it has still been enjoyable as an NBA fan. For those of you who have abstained from following the NBA here's what's been happening around the league:

NBA.net wrote:Players of the Month:

Image West Player: Kevin Durant (OKC): 29.9 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 4.6 APG, 30.7 PER, .595% TS (Thunder: 11-6)
Kevin Durant has won the October/November West Player of the Month award, brought to you by EA Sports. It's in the game. Durant leads the league in both scoring and player efficiency rating. He is also enjoying career highs in rebounding and assists. Durant's Thunder are currently 11-6, good for third place in the Western Conference, and the fourth year star is a leading MVP candidate.
Image West Rookie: Blake Griffin (LAC): 13.5 PPG, 12.4 RPG, 18.7 PER, .540% TS (Clippers: 11-7)
Blake Griffin has proven to be worth the wait. the first pick in the 2009 draft has made a major impact right off the bat, winning the Foot Locker West Rookie of the Month award. Griffin averages a double-double, and is the league's fourth leading rebounder. Furthermore, Griffin's Clippers are a surprise 11-7, which is good for fourth place in the West. While many doubt the Clippers will maintain this surprise pace, Griffin is the current ROY front-runner.
Image East Player: LeBron James (MIA): 24.2 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 7.5 APG, 30.4 PER, .624% TS (Heat: 15-1)
LeBron James has won the October/November Sprite East Player of the Month award. With due respect to Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, who are also having fantastic years, LeBron is the best player on the Heat. James has only seen a minor drop in his core stats, and is more efficient than ever. James anchors the best offensive team of all-time, and is the biggest reason the Heat are so scary.
Image East Rookie: Evan Turner (PHI): 14.5 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 3.7 APG, 15.2 PER, .495% TS (76ers: 7-11)
Evan Turner has edged out Derrick Favors and John Wall to win the the October/November Rookie of the Month award, brought to you by Pringles. Despite some early struggles with his shot, Turner has been an excellent asset for the Sixers, currently second in scoring on the team (and among rookies). Turner's consistent and well-rounded play makes him a sure-fire ROY candidate.

NBA.net wrote:First All-Star Voting Returns

December 1, 2010 - the first all-star balloting returns have been released. Headlining the returns are Miami's star trio of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh, who are all slated to start. Also on pace to start for the East are Orlando's Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. Amazingly, all five East starters would be from Florida teams. However, Boston's Kevin Garnett is only 30,000 votes behind Bosh for the second starting forward spot.

The Lakers' Kobe Bryant leads all voters with 893,564 votes. Phoenix's Steve Nash is projected to start at the other guard position despite Phoenix's 5-12 star with 378,003 votes. Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant leads all forwards in voting, and Pau Gasol is expected to start at the 4. Blazers Center Greg Oden rounds out for projected starters, as he holds a slight lead over the Lakers' Andrew Bynum. Voting is as follows:

Thierry., For now...

Houndy66, I will next time, when the playoff race has really started. For now, you can just figure it out with the division ones.

Jae, I am, but White Chocolate's back on the Magic. Might be signing Patty Mills to a 10 day deal though.

Raptors Sign Patty Mills To 10 Day Contract
Image December 2, 2010 - The Toronto Raptors have reportedly signed second year Australian point guard Patty Mills to a 10-day contract. Mills, 22, was a stand-out player at St. Marys, but fell to 50th in the draft. Taken by the point-guard heavy Portland Trailblazers, playing just 38 minutes, and spending most of his time in the D-League.

Mills was a stand-out in the NBDL however, and was expected to be re-signed by the team. However, the strong Summer League play of Armon Johnson pushed Mills off the roster. The lightning-quick Aussie now joins a team with only one point guard on the active roster (Hedo Turkoglu and Leandro Barbosa moonlighted at the PG position, with limited success). Mills should have an excellent shot at getting a full contract.

Mills will join fellow Aussie David Andersen on the team. Both players will be activated due to the injury to Linas Kleiza.
