For the second consecutive month, Kevin Durant has won the West Player of the Month award, brought to you by NBA Ballers 4: Ballin'™. The Thunder enjoyed a 12-3 month, and now lead the Western conference. The Durantula leads the league in scoring by a wide margin, and also has a league best 33.4 PER. As a former Sonics fan, all I gotta say is... God damn it!West Rookie: Blake Griffin (LAC): 14.3 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 19.2 PER, .548% TS (Clippers: 18-14)
The Clippers continue to be a surprise success, and Blake Griffin has been rewarded with his second Fresca™ West Rookie of the Month award. Griffin leads all rookies in both scoring and rebounding, and could be challenging for an all-star berth. Things are finally looking bright for Blake and the Clippers. Who'da thunk it?East Player: Derrick Rose (CHI): 22.8 PPG, 8.4 APG, 4.0 RPG, 20.4 PER, .533% TS (Bulls: 18-12)
Chicago's Derrick Rose was surprisingly named the Extenze™ East Player of the Month. Leading his Bulls to an 11-4 record in December and a share of the division lead, Rose has stepped up his numbers from across the board, and is sneaking into the MVP conversation. Though his defense and offensive efficiency has been questioned, Rose undoubtedly had a great month.East Rookie: John Wall (WAS): 11.8 PPG, 6.2 APG, 4.3 RPG, 14.2 PER, .505% TS (Wizards: 11-19)
John Wall was named the winner of the Pringles™ East Rookie of the Month award. The #1 pick is beginning to come into his own, and has been posting some solid numbers. While the Wizards blow, and his efficiency leaves something to be desired, Wall is beginning to show why he was the top prospect.
NBA.net wrote:First All-Star Voting Returns
January 1, 2011 - the second all-star balloting returns have been released. The Big three in Miami and big two in Orlando continue to hold down the pole positions to start. However, New York's Amare Stoudemire and Atlanta's Josh Smith are challenging Bosh for the starting 4 spot. However, the rest of the East starting positions appear to be filled, with LeBron James leading all vote-getters.
There has not been much change in the West voting either. However, the Rockets' Yao Ming has taken the lead for the starting five spot. Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant lead all vote-getters, while Pau Gasol and Steve Nash have comfortable buffers, and will likely start in the game as well. RealGM's campaign to vote current free agent Brian Scalabrine into the all-star game had yielded 240,000 Eastern Conference votes, and 165,000 Western Conference votes. There are no plans for the former Celtics forward to get another spray tan however.

It's a new year, so how about a new Raptors Talk? This week, NBA experts Ken Chalmers and Wally Canuck discuss the Raptors' winning streak sans Bargnani, award races and of course, have some playful banter.

January 2, 2011 - The Celtics were without Rajon Rondo (sprained ankle), but that didn't stop them from snapping the Raptors four game win streak. The Raptors, also without a major rotation player in Andrea Bargnani held their own for most of the game, but the old big 3 was just too much. The Atlantic Division-leading Celtics got back over .500 with the win.19 17 27 23 86 (15-19) | DeRozan: 17/6/0; S. O'Neal: 11/9/5 blocks; Diaw: 9/13/2, 4-6 FG (Shitass: Sonny Weems: 2/1/1, 1-5 FG)

Shaq: "You know you love it." | Our best defensive possession...
January 3, 2011 - This one was pretty hard to watch - in fact, I turned it off before halftime! After a promising (if high-paced) start to the game, which saw Manu Ginobili score 13 points in the first 9 minutes, the Raptors went on a tear to open up a double digit lead. This would continue into the second, as we simply didn't defend. When the score read 65-44 Raptors, I decided to do something less painful - iron my face for a while.
When all was said and done, we lost by 26 points to a sub-.500 team who was without (arguably) their best player. (To be fair, they are 5-1 without Andrea Bargnani now). Tim Duncan had very underwhelming games, and saw just 27 minutes of court time apiece. Shaquille O'Neal led the way with an efficient 22 points (and an absolutely ridiculous play you can see below). DeMar DeRozan led all scorers with 24, while former Spur Hedo Turkoglu chipped in 18. We fall to 21-11, while they improve to just three games under .500.
Shaq takes it from coast to coast and dunks it! Wow.27 23 26 13 89 (21-11) | Ginobili: 18/3/1; Duncan: 12/8/4; Parker: 10/2/3 (Shitass: Richard Jefferson: 4/1/3, 2/12 FG)

Despite DeMar's 38, Magic Hold Off Raptors![]()
---------------------Nobody didn't stopped Vince Carter! | Another day, another career night for Heir Canada.
January 6, 2011 - Damn you Chris Paul. Damn you Vince Carter. Damn you Dwight Howard! Despite a career high 38 points from DeMar DeRozan and some of our best ball of the season, we could not defeat the Orlando Magic. Also, Andrea Bargnani returned...
This game looked like a blowout in the beginning. The Magic defense was shutting us down, and Dwight was dominant on both ends. The Magic easily opened up a double digit lead. The second quarter was much higher scoring, with very few stops for either side. The Orlando lead fluctuated between 10 and 20 points, and the home team entered the half leading 60-44. Unlike Spurs fans, we Raps fans bother to watch whole games.
DeRozan and Hedo had an excellent third quarter, as the Raps rallied back into the game. Bargs finally hit his first shot after a turrible 0-7 start, and we got within as few as two points. Unfortunately, the fourth quarter resembled our team's last few seasons: a treadmill. We got the score within 2 points several more times, before the Magic reopened their lead. Down 9 with two minutes to go, DeMar converted a crucial three-point play (to have his first 30+ point game), fouling out Dwight. However, hot shooting from Carter and CP3 carried Orlando to a 112-105 triumph. We fell to 16-20, but our self-esteem improved to 2/10. Embrace the day, people.
One of CP3's many, many alley-oops to Dwight.14 30 35 26 105 (16-20) | DeRozan: 38/8/5; Turkoglu: 19/8/5; O'Neal: 10/11/3 blocks, 5-5 FG (Shitass: Andrea Bargnani: 10/5/2, 3-16)
