What exactly was that 'hand-checking' I keep hearing about?
The thing that really bugs me these days compared to the NBA of yesteryear is the use of timeouts. Sometimes a team will go down 6-0 in the first two minutes and call time. The mandatory timeouts also slow the game down and do nothing but appeal to the companies that have bought ad time during the games.

yeah i know, i hate that. At least we have 6 TO's instead of 7 like before, and teams can only carry 3 into 4th instead of 4.

Hand Checking: A defender may not place and keep his hand on an opponent unless he is in the area near the basket with his back to the basket.
Andrew wrote:Perfect example of the timeout abuse today in the Spurs/Sixers game. Iguodala opens up the scoring with a huge dunk and the Spurs take a timeout with 11:37 left in the first quarter. Not even a minute in and it's apparently bad enough to call time! Admittedly it was only a 20 second timeout but stopping the game over the first basket of the game?
I guess I'm getting old, because I can remember a time when coaches used to let their team play before deciding something was wrong.
