Oh man, tough ride. I mean, you did pretty well (especially compared to the RL Spurs), but I was hoping to see you in the finals.

But hey Thierry., my biggest congratz to you for finishing one full 2k season. God, I did not think that was possible, but you stayed committed and did this thing. You have now proven yourself as being an actual Dynasty-maker. Good job, bro!

Not too bad, did better then the Spurs IRL. I doubted your move of getting Gooden, but looks like he did pretty well. All in all, I guess you could count this season as a successful one.

Great job finishing the season, playing all the games! One heck of a feat.

Thierry, not only do you start a new association when many were doubting you could keep it going a while, you play all the games in 12 minute quarters to really silence the doubters. Great job on this, hoping for another successful season. (Y)

Tough way to end the season, especially when you get eliminated by the Lakers, on your home floor. (N) Was definitely tough to keep Gasol off the boards.

RWC ♦ Spurs Beat (Playoffs :: Finals)

2010-11 Playoffs: Conference Finals Review ::
    nba.com/spurs/beat | June 1st, 2011

    Western Conference

Image (1) San Antonio Spurs vs. (2) Los Angeles Lakers Image

Game 1 --- LAL @ SAS [0-1] --- Parker's triple-double & Maggette's scoring and defense carry Spurs over Lakers in Game 1: Corey Maggette was flawless. Ron Artest was, just a pain to watch. Maggette silenced the Los Angeles Lakers' hopes of a Game 1 upset, scoring 18 points as the San Antonio Spurs held off the Lakers, 94-76 in the first encounter of the Western Conference Finals. “I was in the zone. My teammates were finding me and I said, 'Let's continue with this',” Maggette said. That's exactly what they did, with Maggs repeatedly snuffing out every Lakers threat, from inside the arc and beyond it, as he shot 8-for-13 overall and 2-for-4 on treys. But the big focus was on his masterful defensive job: he didn't let Artest take a clean breath. Known for his own defensive skills, Artest shot just 2-for-17 from the field -- at one point, missing ten straight shots, including an airball 3-pointer -- for only seven points. Maggette led five Spurs in double figures, grabbing six boards and a steal in the process. “That's how we post victories,” he added. “We win with all-around play and not just one or two players having big nights.” Artest was unavailable for comment. (Read More ... )

Game 2 --- LAL @ SAS [1-1] --- Kobe nets 30; Odom, Brown help off the bench as Lakers top Spurs, tie series: Lamar Odom didn't like the way the Los Angeles Lakers played. He was just glad to get the win. Odom scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as a reserve to help the Lakers beat the San Antonio Spurs, 101-95, in a grinding, physical game, to tie the Western Conference Finals series at one contest apiece. “A win is a win,” said Odom, “But almost everything that went on tonight was kind of terrible.” In the struggle (kind of an absence) of Pau Gasol, Odom sparked a sluggish Lakers attack in the second half to prevent San Antonio a 2-0 lead. “Phil (Jackson) was mad because he didn't think I was having an impact,” Gasol commented. “ At one point I thought I was hurting the team.” Odom had his double-double in only 22 minutes, shooting 6/7 from the field, while the Spaniard shot 5-of-13 for 10 points and nine rebounds. Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 30 points for Los Angeles, but he needed 36 shots. (Read More ... )

Game 3 --- SAS @ LAL [1-2] --- Spurs bounce back from 16-point deficit, but empty energy tanks down the stretch; Lakers take 2-1 lead: Manu Ginobili drove on Lamar Odom in the key, the two collided and the Los Angeles Lakers' reserve fell to the hardwood, grimacing in pain. When Odom limped off the court and disappeared into the tunnel, it didn't look good. A couple of minutes later, he was back, waiting at the scorer's table to return to the action. Although the Lakers absorbed some hits, they toppled the San Antonio Spurs, 95-89, in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals to hold a 2-1 advantage. Making up, once again, for Pau Gasol's struggles, Odom had seven points and five rebounds; he downplayed the injury and quick recovery, but coach Phil Jackson didn't. “I don't know what the medics did with him,” said Jackson, “But I'm glad it wasn't a serious injury.” Gasol said he was proud of the sixth man. “He didn't even make it back to the locker room,” said the Spaniard. “He came right out, showed a lot of courage and knew that we needed him.” Gasol, battling foul trouble -- he had three personal fouls in the first quarter -- , played only 14 minutes for eight points, one rebound and two blocks. Kobe Bryant added a game-high 26 points and Shannon Brown had 19 off the bench. (Read More ... )

Game 4 --- SAS @ LAL [1-3] --- Kobe ends what Gasol starts; Lakers take huge 3-1 lead over a furious Popovich, Spurs: Pau Gasol took care of the first half and Kobe Bryant handled the second. Gasol and Bryant split the offensive load for the Los Angeles Lakers, carrying the team to a 101-84 win over the punchless San Antonio Spurs and a 3-1 lead in their Western Conference Finals series. “I guess the story is one half for each of them,” said Lakers coach Phil Jackson. “An extraordinary effort from both of them. We needed it more from Pau, he finally came to fruition in this series.” The Lakers are within one win of their fourth trip to the NBA Finals in as many years: they can wrap up the series with a victory at San Antonio in two days. Gasol scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half; despite his statline, the Lakers only held a five-point lead before intermission. Part of that had to do with Bryant, who made 5-of-13 shots, but “The Black Mamba” came alive in the second half, shooting 6-of-12. He had ten in the third quarter only, as Los Angeles took control for good: 72-64 into the final frame. (Read More ... )

Game 5 --- LAL @ SAS [3-2] --- M&M (Manu & Maggs) pull off stunning victory; Spurs crash Lakers party, now trail 2-3: Manu Ginobili's full form appeared just in time to postpone a party planned by the Los Angeles Lakers. Manu scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half as the San Antonio Spurs somehow stayed alive in the Western Conference Finals, with a 101-90 Game 5 victory over the stunned Lakers. “I don't know, it's something about playing the Lakers,” joked Ginobili, who was on attack mode tonight, getting nine shots from the free throw line and banking all of them, for a game-best plus-minus of +18. But the true key was coach Gregg Popovich's defense, using an array of zones and switching man-to-man plays that smothered Kobe Bryant, making him go inside to score, and also put the most pressure on his teammates to makes shots; they didn't. “We couldn't seem to stop them man-to-man, so we went to zone and we had more effectiveness,” said Popovich. “In the fourth quarter, we stayed with it instead of going back to man-to-man and there you have it.” Corey Maggette scored 17 points and Tim Duncan had 14, 11 rebounds and three blocks for the Spurs, who held a 46-40 edge on the boards and outscored Los Angeles 64-42 in the paint. (Read More ... )

Game 6 --- SAS @ LAL [3-3] --- Six Spurs in double figures push San Antonio to deciding Game 7; overcome Kobe and Gasol's monster games: Down 14 points and on the brink of elimination, the San Antonio Spurs may have been frustrated, but never panicked. Instead, they turned to their new & improved “Big Three” and forced a “winner take all” seventh game: Tim Duncan scored 22 points and Corey Maggette and Manu Ginobili added 19 each to rally the West 1st seed to a 122-112 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, and send the Western Conference Finals back to Texas. “There was never any pressure,” said Duncan. “We know that when we play together we play at our best. If we keep up this way for the clinching game, everything will be fine.” After struggling through three straight losses, the shooters finally exploded when it mattered the most by lifting the Spurs back into the series with a Game 5 victory. And tonight, Duncan was at his maximum expression, grabbing 11 boards and blocking three shots. “We needed to take a chance and make some tough shots,” Maggette said. “Pop always says -- 'there's going to be a point in the game when you have to take tough shots to win.' That's what we did tonight.” Despite having 20 turnovers to Los Angeles' 12 (12 and 2 at the break), the Spurs found the win at the glass (55-45); with paint dominance (66-48) and reserve scoring (43-25). (Read More ... )

Game 7 --- LAL @ SAS [4-3] --- Title dreams shattered: Lakers post last minute 8-0 run to clinch Western Conference over Spurs: Corey Maggette may have lifted the San Antonio Spurs early, but down the stretch, Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol sent the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers back to the NBA Finals. Bryant made two baseline jumpers, finishing with a game-high 32 points, and Lamar Odom added a layup in only 27 seconds, while Gasol had two shots from the free throw line in the dying moments of the night as the Lakers survived with a 8-0 last-gasp run, to post a 96-93 victory over San Antonio in the deciding Game 7 of the West Finals. With the Spurs clinging to a 93-88 lead, Bryant was isolated against Manu Ginobili, who couldn't block Kobe's jumper; the Lakers' go-to guy then added another shot from the baseline, this time over Maggette. After the Argentinian missed a 3-pointer, Odom made the layup for a 94-93 lead. Gasol, who added 19 points and 13 rebounds for Los Angeles, was then fouled by Tim Duncan and hit the ensuing free throws to put the Lakers ahead and give them a third-consecutive Finals passport. Must be noted that all 8 points were assists from Ron Artest. (Read More ... )

    Eastern Conference

Image (1) Miami Heat vs. (3) Boston Celtics Image

Game 1 --- BOS @ MIA [0-1] --- Bosh leads Heat in Game 1, take down Celtics: Chris Bosh had 25 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks as the Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics, 96-73, in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Finals series ... LeBron James (+22) added 20 points, nine boards and six assists ... Dwyane Wade shot only 4-of-11 for 14 points but grabbed six rebounds and had five assists and seven steals ... Udonis Haslem (+29) notched in 13 points as a reserve for Miami ... Ray Allen and Shaquille O'Neal were the only two Boston players in double figures, with 13 and 10 points, respectively ... Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo had nine points each, while Kevin Garnett struggled for six points ... Rondo had 11 assists for the Celtics ... Glen Davis contributed with nine points in nine minutes.

Game 2 --- BOS @ MIA [1-1] --- Celtics play perfect second half, beat Heat in Miami to tie series: Jermaine O'Neal silenced his former club, the Miami Heat, scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds as the Boston Celtics evened the Eastern Conference finals at one game apiece with a 103-84 victory ... O'Neal had a game-high plus-minus of +20 ... Paul Pierce and Ray Allen (+17 each) posted 19 and 16 points, respectively ... Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo notched in 11 points apiece ... LeBron James led Miami with 23 points and seven rebounds ... Dwyane Wade scored 22 points, 7-of-11 from the field ... Chris Bosh had 18 points, but five turnovers ... Game 3 and 4 in the best-of-seven series are at Boston.

Game 3 --- MIA @ BOS [1-2] --- Celtics storm in Boston to take 2-1 lead: Ray Allen (+13) had 23 points and five assists and Paul Pierce scored 22 points as the Boston Celtics rolled to a 103-89 victory over the Miami Heat, in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals ... Jermaine O'Neal (+12) added another double-double with 14 points and 10 boards ... Rajon Rondo had his worst game of the entire playoffs with three points, three rebounds and seven assists ... LeBron James scored 32 points and eight rebounds to pace Miami but it was not enough ... Dwyane Wade had 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals ... Chris Bosh and Mario Chalmers contributed 10 points each for the Heat.

Game 4 --- MIA @ BOS [2-2] --- Flash explodes to tie series at 2-2 against Celts: Dwyane Wade scored 46 points and LeBron James flirted with a triple-double as the Miami Heat won a high scoring affair, 120-105 to tie the Eastern Conference Finals at 2-2 versus the Boston Celtics ... James (+16) had 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists ... Chris Bosh (+22) had a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards ... Udonis Haslem notched in 14 points ... Jermaine O'Neal and Paul Pierce scored 20 points each to lead Boston ... Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo added 14 apiece.

Game 5 --- BOS @ MIA [2-3] --- LeBron leads Miami to new series lead: The NBA's Most Valuable Player scored 34 points and eight rebounds as the Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics, 120-101 to take a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals ... Chris Bosh (+25) added 25 points and nine rebounds ... Dwyane Wade posted 23 points ... As a reserve, Mike Miller scored 18 points, with four 3-pointers ... Mario Chalmers (game-high +28) had seven points and seven assists for the Heat ... the Celtics had five players in double figures but Miami's Big 3 proved too much ... Ray Allen led the team with 18 points, and Paul Pierce had 15 ... Shaquille O'Neal contributed 13 points ... Rajon Rondo and Jermaine O'Neal added 12 and 11, respectively ... the Heat can advance to the NBA Finals with a Game 6 triumph at Boston.

Game 6 --- MIA @ BOS [3-3] --- KG steps up to send it back to Miami, deciding Game 7 coming: Kevin Garnett had his way for 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Boston Celtics staved off elimination with a last-gasp 100-99 victory over the Miami Heat ... Ray Allen scored 16 and Rajon Rondo almost had a triple-double, with 14 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists ... Shaquille O'Neal (game-best +19) proved a big key with his defense on Chris Bosh, who shot 3-of-14 ... Udonis Haslem and LeBron James led Miami with 21 points each ... Dwyane Wade scored 18 points ... Jerry Stackhouse posted a two-trillion.

Game 7 --- BOS @ MIA [3-4] --- First NBA Finals for Miami's new "Big Three": LeBron James scored 30 points and Dwyane Wade added 18 as the Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics in a thriller, 102-95 in overtime, to get a ticket to the NBA Finals ... Ray Allen led the team with 27 points and Jermaine O'Neal had 15 and 11 rebounds ... Kevin Garnett posted another double-double, with 12 and 10 ... Paul Pierce added 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and five steals ... The Finals will begin tomorrow at this same arena, where the Heat will collide with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Just saw this. Gutted you lost & could not execute in the final minute (N)

Must have been a heart wrenching loss, especially after such a long season with all the effort you have put in.

Hope you can continue this & slightly re-tool your roster, have Banana Splitter playing a bigger role & get some more bench help.

To copy Lamrock, well done good sir. Well played :applaud:

LeBron leads Heat to second NBA Championship in franchise history
Preview | Series Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores

Game 1 --- LAL @ MIA [0-1] --- LeBron, Bosh top Lakers in Game 1 of the Finals: LeBron James scored 33 points and Chris Bosh added 23 as the Los Angeles Lakers struggled on defense and were walloped, 107-70 in the NBA Finals opener to the Miami Heat ... before the series, James (+31) said “no one can guard me”; that was true tonight: 14-of-20 from the field, for 33 points including 13 rebounds ... Bosh (+23) had 23 and six rebounds, 7-of-15 from the floor, to help James ... Dwyane Wade had 12 points, with six rebounds and seven assists ... Wade's primary job today was keeping Kobe Bryant in check: Kobe his worst game of this playoffs, shooting 2-of-15 for 7 points ... the only two Lakers in double figures were Andrew Bynum (-26), with 13, and Derek Fisher (-25), with 11 ... Bosh destroyed Pau Gasol the entire night; 5 points and four rebounds for the Spaniard ... Wade and Bosh combined to make 17-of-22 shots from the charity stripe ... Los Angeles allowed Miami to score 79 points through three quarters; the Heat would then go to outscore the Lakers by 10 in the fourth ... Lamar Odom played 29 minutes and was scoreless, with three rebounds, for a game-worst -30 ... Game 2 is tomorrow at Miami, before switching to L.A. for Games 3, 4 and 5.

Game 2 --- LAL @ MIA [1-1] --- Lakers crash Heat party with a reborn Kobe, tie series: Kobe Bryant got back his swagger: Kobe had 33 points as the Los Angeles Lakers shut down the Miami Heat to even the NBA Finals at one game each, with a 113-106 victory ... Bryant also had three rebounds, four assists and four steals ... Pau Gasol was 7-of-11 from the field for 20 points ... Andrew Bynum was defensive with 14 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks ... Ron Artest (game-high +12) scored 12 points and Lamar Odom added 11 for the Lakers, who bounced back in Game Two ... LeBron James had only 10 field goal attempts, making five, defended by Artest ... anyway, James was 9-of-12 from the free throw line for 21 points, seven boards and seven assists ... if it wasn't for Chris Bosh, Miami would have been in big trouble: 37 points and 12 rebounds for the former Toronto Raptor ... Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem had 12 points apiece ... the series now shifts to Los Angeles for the next three games.

Game 3 --- MIA @ LAL [1-2] --- Kobe, Lakers comeback in series with Brown's game-winner: Sparked by a game-winning jumper by Shannon Brown, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat, 98-97 in Game Three of the NBA Finals ... behind Kobe Bryant's 33 points, five rebounds and seven assists, Los Angeles grabbed a 2-1 series lead ... Andrew Bynum added 16 points while Pau Gasol had 14, 13 boards and four dimes ... Brown finished with 6 points ... LeBron James flirted with a triple-double for the Heat, with 27 points, seven boards and nine assists ... Dwyane Wade had 16 points and seven assists ... Chris Bosh posted another double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds ... Mario Chalmers and Steve Blake were called for technical fouls in the third quarter ... the Lakers can get a 3-1 lead tomorrow in the Staples Center.

Game 4 --- MIA @ LAL [2-2] --- Heat play perfect fourth quarter to tie Finals: The Miami Heat got what they came for, snapping a 2-2 NBA Finals tie with a 94-80 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers ... Chris Bosh scored 24 points and 10 rebounds and Dwyane Wade added 19, four rebounds and four assists for Miami ... LeBron James showed his versatility with 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists, five steals and two rejections ... Eddie House played the entire fourth period and scored 11 points, for a plus-minus of +21 ... Kobe Bryant scored 23 points, Ron Artest added 18 and Lamar Odom contributed with 13 to pace the Lakers, but the rest of the team struggled in the contest ... Pau Gasol shot 3-of-11 for nine points while Shannon Brown was scoreless ... Derek Fisher and Andrew Bynum had five and four points, respectively ... Game 5 is tomorrow in this same stadium, the Staples Center, and then the series will shift to Miami for the final two games.

Game 5 --- MIA @ LAL [3-2] --- Heat steal Game 5 from Lakers with thriller overtime victory: Chris Bosh scored 33 points and eight rebounds and LeBron James added 23 and 11 as the Heat used big efforts in the fourth quarter for a 115-114 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers and 3-2 lead in the NBA Finals ... the Lakers were leading by 13 entering the fourth quarter but the Heat were able to tie the game to force extra time ... Bosh shot 10-of-18 from the field and 13-of-14 from the charity stripe ... Eddie House showed his clutch game again with 15 points ... Dwyane Wade shot 1-of-12 for 11 points, Bosh and James made up for him ... Kobe Bryant led Los Angeles with 27 points and seven assists ... Derek Fisher scored 16 points and Lamar Odom added 15 off the bench ... reserve Shannon Brown struggled again, 2-of-8 for seven points ... Game 6 is tomorrow at Miami and the Heat can clinch the Larry O'Brien trophy with a triumph.

Game 6 --- LAL @ MIA [2-4] --- Heat capture 2nd franchise title with win over Lakers: Lifted by chants of "Beat L.A.'' in the closing seconds by their crowd, the Miami Heat concluded the season with a stunning 116-94 blowout over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6 ... Dwyane Wade finally exploded with 37 points, 13-of-17 from the field, and seven assists as the Lakers couldn't take advantage of a 2-1 lead ... LeBron James earned Finals MVP honors with 25 points, five rebounds and seven dimes ... Chris Bosh added 20 and five boards ... Kobe Bryant helped the Lakers but it was not enough ... Kobe had 23 points and eight rebounds, and Andrew Bynum added 17 points ... Derek Fisher added 11 while Lamar Odom, certainly in his last game as a Laker, had seven.

Didn't know a game 5 could have the series tied 3-3

My bad, fixed :)

Lamrock wrote:Tough break with the early exit, man. At least you can take solace in the real Spurs having an even worse finish. Congratulations on completing a season. Didn't see it coming and the amount of work you put into this is nothing short of remarkable. Respect, good sir.

It was a lot of work, but I'm happy it finally came to fruition :D

And they won!

Yes they did, sir.

Tough exit for them.

The X wrote:Just saw this.

An 8-0 run to reach the Finals. That killed me  I'll try to give Splitter more minutes, but I'm really happy with his 6th Man of the Year contention.

Thanks Valor, Season 2 starting soon!

As I said, at least a backup SG for Manu from the FA pool and Gist and Cousin are coming too.

Tomorrow -- a short Season Review for the Spurs :D

Good luck in FA. With Magette "aging" (u can still get him to do some stuff) bench depth would really help this becoming veteran team.
