Just added a little of spice there. Rumor Mill had Lawson leaving and Kenyon Martin's player card said he would test free agency, so I added Melo's real life rumors and Karl also thinking of leaving. :cheeky:

Thanks Hov. As I said, my own attempt at a Moses Chara, hopefully he can have a nice NBA career too on another team, there's really no chance for the Spurs to get a lottery pick.

Game against the Magic. Incredible game, one of the best I've played in 2k11!

But the thing is, I already had my Bulls going for a whole season and I was merely making a 2K11 one with no plans to end RTGII; whereas you are planning to do another one whenever you end your Spurs...treading on dangerous and familiar territory here man, just warning ya

Dwight goes berserk, incredibly not enough; Spurs pop Magic in overtime thriller
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (ORL :: SAS)

SAN ANTONIO, November 22 -- Gregg Popovich walked into the Spurs huddle and offered his squad a little advice after a chaotic finish at the end of regulation: he essentially told his team to forget about the show that Dwight Howard was putting on in Texas. “Coach said in the huddle, 'Forget about him. Don't think of him,'” Spurs guard Tony Parker said. “We can't think backwards, that's not an option. We got to think forwards: that's what we did.” Did they ever... despite watching Howard transform the AT&T Center into his personal playground, the Spurs didn't panic and eventually escaped the Defensive Player of the Year's performance with a thrilling 118-113 overtime victory over the Orlando Magic. Howard was unstoppable as he poured in a game-high 37 points against the Spurs' helpless frontcourt. Howard shot 16-of-20 from the field, grabbed 17 rebounds and even had 7 blocks in his statline, but San Antonio survived his heroics with a 6-0 run to close overtime.

With the score tied at 103 and 36.9 seconds left in regulation, Jameer Nelson took the ball up court to find Vince Carter open on his right side. Carter missed (1-of-14 from 3-point land; that would be a big reason for the loss) as DeJuan Blair grabbed the rebound and passed to Parker for a chance at the win. A double screen on Parker, by Nelson and Mickael Pietrus, left Corey Maggette open to score a 3, and a 106-103 lead with 14.9 left. An intentional foul on Parker gave the Frenchman the key to seal the game, but he only made 1/2 free throws for a 4-point lead; a dunk by Howard and two free throws by Carter tied the game at 107. With a 111-109 lead, the Spurs forced Howard to commit a charging foul just 40.1 ticks left on the clock. Manu Ginobili hit two free throws at the other end to push the advantage to four and Rashard Lewis made a jumper for a 113-111 score. Yet another trey, this time by rookie James Anderson, wrote the 116-111 lead. Two points from the charity stripe by Hill capped the win, before Brandon Bass added a consolation layup. Not a bad performance for a Spurs team that found itself on a 10-point deficit, twice.

“You need mental toughness,” Anderson, 9 points in 8 minutes and perfect from the field, said. “It was good that we were able to keep our poise. We found a way to dig it out. That's how it's going to be.” With Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter taking turns trying to slow him down, Howard scored 19 points in the first half. “I was fine with our defense on Dwight,” Popovich said. “But he's a great player. He took a ton of shots and made them, that's what great players do.” The Spurs, though, didn't panic. Ginobili led San Antonio with a season-high 27 points, 12-of-17 from the floor, while Duncan added 22 and 10 rebounds. The Spurs, with a 9-4 record, moved within a 1.5 game of the Dallas Mavericks (10-2) for the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference, picking up their third win in a row. They'll be facing the Timberwolves this Wednesday at Target Center, and will have plenty of confidence heading into that showdown after surviving Howard's explosion. “When it looked like we were done, we responded. To become a great team in this league, and make the next step to playoffs contention, you have to win games like this,” Spurs guard George Hill said. “You have to forge your team with adversity. There was a lot of adversity in overtime, but we kept fighting and earned a huge, huge win.” Hill posted his first double-double of the year, with 11 assists -- tying his career-high -- and 12 points.

River Walk Chronicles ♦ Spurs Beat

Postby kibaxx7 on Thu Nov 11, 2010 12:18 pm

    We were wrong about Tiago
    nba.com/spurs/beat | November 23th, 2010

    SAN ANTONIO -- If you go to NBA.com's stats page, then Rookie Report, they have the headshots of six statistical leaders. You can find Washington's John Wall, who leads the rookies in scoring, and then LA Clippers' Blake Griffin, the NBA’s rookie rebound leader. You see Wall's grin again, this time in the assists category. Then we see Philadelphia's Evan Turner in steals and Griffin again, in field goal percentage. In the last category, blocks, is a face most NBA fans wouldn’t recognize: Spurs rookie, Tiago Splitter. I think all Spurs fans should be ready and happy to acknowledge how wrong they were about him. We always thought he had some talent looking at him playing in Spain, but figured he would turnout to be just a nice role player some day.

    But Splitter has proved everyone wrong, having some great performances off San Antonio's bench and is really turning out to be a force. He catches everything. He's a phenomenal finisher on the rim, and we can no longer underestimate how much of a difference his hustle makes. He posted a double-double in just his 6th game, 13 points and 11 rebounds, at Charlotte (November 8, a 82-68 triumph); he poured on 16 points and 8 rebounds at Utah on November 19 (a 90-75 win), and then scored 8 points and grabbed a career-high 15 boards just the day after, November 20 against Cleveland (a 111-87 defeat of the Cavs). Splitter's skillset may not be impressive to the eye, but his game is productive and still growing. He's taking guys off the dribble, finishing in traffic and doing up-and-unders. His defensive presence? Priceless. He's on the road to becoming a pretty solid player. Maybe not a star, but a legitimate starting center or power forward (coach Gregg Popovich makes him spend more minutes at center). Some reports claim that Popovich would be pondering switching Splitter to a starting lineup spot, and move DeJuan Blair to the bench, who has been struggling so far. The Spurs fly to Minnesota tomorrow to battle against the Timberwolves. What can we expect from the Brazilian this time? I guess it's time to find him a nickname.

Yeah, hoping Blair steps up a little more. Will keep Tiago in the bench for now, then.

VC shot 1-of-14 from 3s (N) 70 points in paint, Dwight had 30... still need a lot of changes...

Duncan and Splitter take all the rebounds. Also McDyess is averaging close to 6 rebs.

Webster's big night not enough for Minnesota at home; Blair gives Spurs the W
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: MIN)

MINNEAPOLIS, November 24 -- The San Antonio Spurs may not be blowing their opponents out, but they're certainly playing some of their best team basketball. It seems like each and every night, everyone is contributing and one player steps up to lead the team to victory. Tonight, the one was DeJuan Blair, who undoubtedly won the showdown against fellow power forward Kevin Love. Blair's final statline of 21 points, seven rebounds, and 8/12 shot from the field blew away Love's 16 points, six rebounds and one steal. In addition to winning the PF battle, San Antonio also excelled with their game in the paint: 52-40. Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker dropped in 23 and 19 points, respectively, with Manu draining 2-of-2 bombs from 3-point territory and Parker finishing 6-of-13 from the floor, and nine assists, but six turnovers. Parker even acknowledged that the some bench players performed much better than the starters.

George (Hill) is doing a great job defensively, getting into the defense, finding guys, he's having a lot of dishes,” he said. “Larry (Hughes) is shooting lights out right now, and Tiago (Splitter) is being active, so we're extremely happy with the way the bench is coming in and picking up the starters when we're down. They give great energy every game.” Hill dropped in 14 points with some And-1 shots, Hughes posted 11 points on 5-of-7 from the field and Splitter added 4 points and eight rebounds, his defensive presence being a big reason for the win. Coach Gregg Popovich noted after the game that he is particularly pleased with the growth of Hill's play. “He's really coming along. His penetration and his being aggressive, I think it's visible. You can see the difference in George, when he first got here and then see his play now. He's just aggressive right now, and that's what we need him to do.” San Antonio came out of the gates firing and finished the first quarter shooting 58.3% from the field, Ginobili scoring 10 of the team's first 12 points. A 14-2 run gave the Spurs a nine-point advantage heading into the locker room, with the score at 63-54. With Minnesota's Jonny Flynn on foul trouble (4 fouls in the first quarter alone; 8 points, all in the second half) and both Michael Beasley and Corey Brewer out with injuries, it looked as if the Spurs were going to have a stellar offensive performance, a blowout, but the Timberwolves had different ideas.

It was a back and forth game, with a 16-point lead by the Spurs on the jumbotron for about 6 minutes, until Martell Webster led a Minnesota comeback down the stretch: he scored 15 of his 26 points in the 4th frame on 6-of-9 shooting; a jumper by the former Trail Blazer gave the Timberwolves a 102-101 lead with 5:33 remaining in the game. After rookie Wesley Johnson (19 points) missed a three-pointer, San Antonio posted a 8-0 run for a 109-102 lead. A three-pointer by Wayne Ellington (13 points) and free throws by Luke Ridnour (12) cut San Antonio's lead to only 2 points, 109-107; Darko Milicic (10, 9 boards) tied with a layup. A dunk and free throw from Ginobili made a 112-109 score, and a jumper by Corey Maggette -- his only field goal of the second half -- left the score at 114-109. Minnesota needed a miracle with only 3.5 seconds left. Kurt Rambis called a timeout, the last available, and drew up a play for Webster, who was shooting the lights out. It worked, and Webster a got solid look from in front of the Spurs bench: 114-112, for the final score. Parker lost an incredible ball on the inbound with Flynn, who passed the ball to Ellington for a chance at a 114 tie; the shot was challenged just enough by Ginobili to make it come up short and give San Antonio the triumph.
