Tough loss, especially at home. Korver just 6 points, he can do way better.

Liking the retro jersey night. :)

Thanks X :) I only added Hughes, now I'm struggling to find minutes for everyone. Hughes has been really good.

Didn't you hear the boos for the Spurs? Korver couldn't hit a 3. I was waiting for a retro night too, a lot more coming.

Duncan to get needed rest against Utah
    nba.com/spurs/beat | November 18th, 2010

SAN ANTONIO -- After Wednesday's contest against Chicago, Tim Duncan sat at his locker, feet buried in an ice bucket, talking about how much he wanted the playoffs to start right now, laughing. Sure enough, he got his wish. TD sat out today's full-court practice at the AT&T Center, only working on conditioning & energy recovering exercises, and won't fly with the team to Utah to face the Jazz, resting his body a little and preparing for Saturday's game against Cleveland. “A little bit of rest won't hurt Tim,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. Duncan is one of the Spurs' top players, if not the best, and leads the team in points (14.7, tied with Manu Ginobili) and rebounds (11.1). But Popovich wants to rest his big man, who played a lot of basketball this last month. Last year, Duncan played in 78 games, averaging team-bests 17.9 points and 10.1 rebounds in 31.3 minutes. Now, he'll rest. “I know him, and you give him a couple days off, he wants to practice or play so bad, it's like he's rejuvenated.”

Spurs reserve center Tiago Splitter, who was signed this offseason from Spain, will start in Duncan's place. Popovich hopes the Brazilian gets off to a great start against the Jazz, who sit at a non-expected 14th place in the West, with a 3-9 record. Deron Williams is Utah's top-player, averaging 25.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists; he was named Player of the Week recently. Splitter is posting averages of 6.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 23.9 minutes per game. Also discussed in press conference today, is Ginobili's recent field goal percentage struggle; Popovich wants Manu to shoot as much as possible, but the Argentinian is trying to look to pass more often. At times, the result has been a slower decision-making, which Popovich is trying to fix as soon as possible. “I told him, if you're in between, shoot!,” Popovich said. “But I told him he needs to get a little better with his decision-making.” Ginobili averages 14.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and only 1.9 assists, .400% from the field and only .207% from 3-point land, a team 2nd-worst.

It's good that your giving Duncan a rest, are you using the progressive fatigue option, or are you just trying to make your association realistic? I hope that Tiago gets more block while he starts, how many minutes are you giving him at the starting position?

P.S. My bad I looked on the 2nd post and it did indeed say you were playing on progressive fatigue.

No Mr. Fundamental, no problem; Manu, Splitter beat Jazz in Salt Lake City
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: UTAH)

SALT LAKE CITY, November 19 -- You may know Tiago Splitter from his days in Spain, more as a power forward, but he simply played the role of a traditional center tonight. Starting in place of Tim Duncan, who was given a rest, had 12 of his career-high 16 points in the first half as the San Antonio Spurs cruised to a 90-75 victory over the Utah Jazz, who suffered their sixth loss in their last seven games. San Antonio, now 7-4, 3.5 games behind of Oklahoma City (11-1), who today lost for the first time this season at Boston. “Utah is a team that is not playing well and we didn't play down to their level,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “I thought we played very well, especially Tiago with how he got involved on the offense early.” San Antonio shot 59 percent (19-of-32) in the opening half as Splitter also added eight rebounds and four blocks for the Spurs. “We played a team game,” Splitter said. “We said we were going to make sure we did that for the rest of the season. We've still got a long road to make our statement, but if we keep up like this, we'll be fine.” Splitter made five of the Spurs' first seven baskets of the game; the Spurs ended the first quarter with a 12-2 run for a 31-16 advantage.

Manu Ginobili scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds and Larry Hughes made 4-of-4 shots for 9 points off the bench, while DeJuan Blair had 7 points and Tony Parker only 8 for the Spurs, shooting 3-of-11. “I told Tiago when the game starts, 'Start off the game aggressive because it makes us a better basketball squad,'” Blair said of his frontcourt buddy. “He was very aggressive; not just in looking for his own shots but blocking their shots as well. When he comes out and controls the tempo like he did tonight, it makes us a much better team.” Matt Bonner added a non-expected 14 points. Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said, “It actually was a nightmare. He draws a lot of attention. Whenever Ginobili or Parker had the ball, they take two defenders with them, sometimes three, and other guys become open. Bonner did a good job of taking advantage of those situations.”

Al Jefferson and Allen Iverson led Utah with 16 points apiece; Jefferson added 5 rebounds, 8-of-10 from the field. C.J. Miles posted 12 off the bench, including some fastbreak dunks that took many Jazz fans off their seats, but it was not enough. Deron Williams, coming off a 41-point, 10-assist game against New Jersey, was held by Parker to only 6 points -- 2-of-13 shooting. Sloan also didn't hesitate to criticize his team: he never recalls having a Utah team struggle this badly. “That was way up there with one of the worst I think I've been around. Somehow you've got to find five guys who care enough to compete. I hate to say that, because you take away from the Spurs everything they did, they played a great game. I never in my life thought I'd be in a position where I would be begging guys to play. I think a lot of the players don't realize that you only have one basketball career and it doesn't last as long as you think; the money might be there, but actually being out there on the court, that doesn't last long. Until people realize that, and realize that you have to help each other and not be so selfish, and worry about how many points you score, we're going to be stuck in the same position, same place, for a long time.” Utah holds a 3-10 record, 14th in the West.

Actually both reasons... he had fatigue, but not a lot, so I just gave him rest considering Utah's poor record. Tiago ended up with POTG honors, also Bonner was a huge surprise. :)

That, although I really hate that deal for the Bulls

looks like you still needa tweak those sliders Thierry, CPU shooting % way off, too little 3 pointers both attempted and made, and same goes for FTA and fouls in general

Good win. Splitter is a really valuable player. I hope he can make it in the NBA in RL just like Scola is doin right now.

What do you think about Temple? Is he good? I'm looking for a backup point guard who is young and affordable. Pooh Jeter is a turnover machine, Luther Head's no real PG.

Thanks man... bigger victory considering TD was rested :) Every season preview I read had Utah at least in West 4th seed; when I saw them with this record, I had to make Sloan say something.

You may hate the deal for the Bulls, but Jefferson and Boozer killed me

Yep, the sliders still need tweaks... I had 2 free throws the other game and now around 18... I have them on custom because I edit them almost every game, there's no perfect sliders.

Thanks Hov. Splitter is a really nice backup. I also hope he can make it. I'm dreaming here, I'll aim at Defensive 2nd team with him in a couple of seasons :cheeky:

Temple is a nice backup too, but I have him in inactive list right now. I don't give him much burn because I have Parker, Hill and Manu runs the point in case of fatigue or foul trouble (I even posted a Temple article a couple of days ago  ) He's 6'6'', also nice 3PT%, I'd consider him if I were you. Trade Jeter away!

Even though Utah's 3-10, they still have a damn good team. Kind of like the Clippers: all of that talent, but can't generate wins. If D-Will was able to step his game up and play to his true ability, you could've been in for a close one.

River Walk Chronicles ♦ Thierry's Morning Coffee

2010/2011 D-League Preview • Toros with high expectations; Vipers still the team to beat
    nba.com/spurs/morningcoffee | November 19th, 2010

    Image
SAN ANTONIO -- As the Austin Toros get ready to launch their first year in their new stadium at Cedar Park Center, the question is on the table: “Who will be the team to beat?” I think they do not need to look any further than the NBA D-League defending champions, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The affiliate of the NBA’s Houston Rockets, the Vipers look to be a formidable opponent for the Toros and every other D-League squad. Although the NBA almost destroyed the team for their talent -- last season the Vipers had a league record 10 call-ups -- they still managed to get the wins: 34 triumphs, a Western Conference title and last but not least, the league championship. Under the orders of coach Quin Snyder, the Toros posted a 32-18 record last year, good enough for the second place in the West. Austin is one of four teams owned by their NBA affiliate, and the team has compiled a 94-56 regular season record with one NBA D-League Finals appearance over the past three seasons since the Spurs took over. Now taking over the Toros reigns, is former Utah Flash coach, Brad Jones. The season starts today with the Toros playing at Maine to face the Red Claws, who posted a 27-23 record last year, missing the D-League playoffs.

Returning players • This year, the Toros return one of the NBA D-League's top centers in Joe Beck. Signed by the Toros prior last year, Beck averaged 15.4 points and 14.1 rebounds; a rebounding machine and a solid player in the paint, Beck enters his 3rd year in the league, coming from Arizona State. After Beck, also returning, we find Indiana State's Eddie Banks, a solid shooter off the bench for the Toros last season who also starts his 3rd year, just as heady point guard Jimmy Drew, from Utah. UNLV's Dan Hicks is back for his 2nd season at center and also back are reserve forward, Arizona's Barry Myers and reserve swingman, Ohio's Jeremy Ryan, both for their second season.

New Toros • Two Spurs training camp cuts join the Toros roster. Marcus Cousin is a 6-11 bigman, who looks like he could be a star early on: Cousin began at Seton Hall, transferred to Houston and played sparingly until his senior season when he blossomed as a shot-blocker and defensive, disruptive force, not to be taken lightly; and forward James Gist, picked 57th overall by the Spurs in the 2008 Draft, an athletic forward who plays with great energy. A tremendous leaper, with good shot-blocking instincts, finishes with authority near the basket, who played profesionally in Italy and Russia. In five preseason games with San Antonio, Cousin averaged 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game; while Gist posted averages of 3.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in 10.8 minutes, in four preseason contests with the Spurs. The team is also happy to have four other talented players on the roster, for their first D-League experiences: guard Kyle James, a product from IUPUI, former teammate of Spurs guard George Hill; former Wyoming standout, swingman Hugh Powell; forward Charles Tate, from New Mexico; and 6-11 center from California, Gabe Thomas. Check the roster here.

Yeah, I like their team. Deron and Iverson is a nice backcourt duo. Then Jefferson and Millsap, I remember Jefferson had 3 fouls in the first half and barely played, then in the second half he started scoring. Parker did a great job on Deron. :D

I think the game doesn't keep track of the other teams' bench... but I must be the team with the most bench points in the league, I'd say 35 per game. :cheeky:

Sounds like the game needs a patch, with these kinds of stat productions and the bugs i heard about...

Just saw your D-League article, is it any more useful/featured in 2K11? They were almost a non-factor in 2K10

I hate the D-League "feature". I wish there was an option in Association Mode to disable it because I hate having a bunch of fictional players who resemble aliens. (N) Wish they'd get real D-Leaguers in there like Sherron Collins, Salim and Fazekas.

Oh true, although what i normally do is manually edit all of them to overall 25 and age 45 so they all retire, and NBA Free Agents play in the D-League instead....

A patch is needed, yeah... in the meantime will try to edit the sliders a little game by game.

With all the generated players, it's cool because it gives me the opportunity to create some kind of background for them... I was thinking in resigning position and take other teams and assign some players, but then would lose all GM points (I played all the 11 games so far).
