became the first rookie in NBA history and stands as just one of six players all-time to average more than one blocked shot and one 3-pointer made per game in a season

I highly respected his playing days. I almost cried when i heard this news.
Here is a little tribute to him....

Lots of people keep posting how he was a waste and thats what lots of new articles have put it out. 'He's a watse'... 'he had so much potential.'
Altho it may be true, this dude passed away and it is a shame that he had to go out like this.
It's a shame that the media portrays it as Eddie and basketball and how he didn't turn out to be much.
Questions of why he had to go out like this and what issues he had are never answered.
Eddie Griffin had issues that led to his abuse of alcohol and drugs and he clearly needed help.
Whether he was offered help and/or refused it, I am not entirely sure/certain of. His case just shows that no matter who you are, money isn't going to save you and that you need help and support from those who care about you most.
It should be a warning to everyone in that if you know anyone who might have a similar background, maybe you should try and see wats up and help them. That's the most you could do I guess.
We don't know if he was high/drunk or commited suicide. It will be interesting to hear what investigators find out.
Four days ago when no one knew the identity of the person involved, did it matter to you then?
Well he had the talent to be a number two guy on a good team, and have a 10-15 year career, and threw it away because of alcohol and physical abuse. I can't think of a better word that 'waste' to describe it.
Given his history, it's probably a 75/25 shot he was either drunk or high when he was driving his car straight into a moving train. That doesn't sound like a shame to me.
Don't make him out to be some sort of victim. He took every advantage that was given to him and never faced consequences for his behavior.
I don't personally know any D1 top scoring college players, anyone who was drafted in a pro league, has been paid millions, or watched porn in their car, but if I ever do, I will be sure to ask them "wats up?"
the most atheletic, most talented, most potential big man to ever play the game of basketball
He's a man whose done something all of ya'll can't do i bet and that is playing NBA basketball
I don't see your point
