Yes but the organization's first responsibilities is to their fans. Ask any Minny fan if they're happy w/ this trade. And ultimately if the fans aren't, happy, the organization loses more money and may be sold.
And was KG really the problem why they couldn't win for all those years? I'd say the problem was the GM, who i still see running the show. In Chicago, Reinsdorf broke a very long relationship that yielded 6 rings because his GM was basically broken, and got rid of the real problem. Bulls' turnaround w/ Paxson is astouding.
They got rid of the wrong person, IMO.
It is not against league rules. The Pistons traded Lindsey Hunter to the Celtics in the Rasheed Wallace trade, along with an agreement that the Celtics would waive him upon his arrival.
If that's the case why even have the salary rules at all? What's the point of having rules if everyone can ignore them?
New York trades Marbury + Nate Robinson to LA for Elton Brand, LA agrees to waive Marbury, Marbury is back w/ NY. New York adds $15M roster despite being massively over cap and over tax.
I remember when Chicago traded Curry to New York, there was an expectation that Antonio Davis would be waived, who was needed to balance contracts, and there was rumors of the league looking into it but Zeke ended up keeping him instead.
