Perhaps Delfino could develop into a Turkoglu type of player for the Raptors?

If so, Colangelo pulled off a major steal.

No... not at all...
Turkoglu can shoot, delfino cant. Delfino can play defence, Turkoglu cant. The only similarity is the fact theyre both white euros...

This is a horrible trade for Detroit, a fantastic one for Toronto. I'm looking forward to what Joe decides to do, because this MUST have been a preliminary move for something good...
It cant get much worse...

I agree i think some serious moves are going to take place at Detroit and this was just a start, also i hope he becomes a great player and he is nothing like turkoglu, considering he isn't a shooter and more of a slasher type player that will fit well with the raptors, can't wait for the off-season, Draft and next season :D

all i gotta say is FUCK!!!!!!!!
although, i'm kind of happy for Delf....yesterday i actually said i'd rather see him traded then waste away on our bench. He's got some awesome potential.

I haven't seen Delfino play enough to have a good impression on him, but according to his stats, he doesn't exactly stand out (no I wasn't expecting big numbers, but they seem rather ordinary). Who wants to give me a scouting report on this guy?

he's athletic

and this beauty

He's a good defender, best suited @ the 2. Offensively he's best as a 3. He is not a spot up shooter as Saunders tried to make him. In fact, his shooting is streaky. He can drive to the hoop though pretty strong, which should suite the raptors well with all their spot up shooters. His defence is pretty good, definattely above average. He has a nose for rebounds.

The only similarity is the fact theyre both white euros...

actually Turk is Euro, Carlos is Argentine

Yeah, after this season I figured Mo Pete might be going soon.
Graham is a pretty strange player, I really thought that by now he would have developed into this very athletic player at least able to drive to the hoop with strength and high %, but that doesn't seem to happen...He did play a few good games, grabbing a bunch of rebounds and stuff, but he's so freaking inconsistent...

The only thing that limits Graham is his dribbling. He isn't very assertive and shies away from attacking the basket because he's such a poor dribbler. He has a pretty solid first step and can blow by a lot of guys, but he can't take more than 2 or 3 sluggish dribbles which allows his defender to catch up to him. He panics and he shoots an akward mid range jumper that goes in occasionally.

I'm still rooting for the guy because he clearly has a lot of athletic gifts, but his biggest weakness (dribbling) pretty much negates all of his strengths (his quickness, strength and leaping ability).

A very interesting trade, and a very good one for Toronto. I remember, when he played in Europe he was great, but, besides flashes, didn't turn out the player Pistons needed. I believe he can still break out and become a great slashing guard.

Should be interseting and i am still hoping he goes great considering the Raptors are probably my second team as of such. What was he like in Europe, did he dominate? what kind of numbers did he get? did you watch much of him? Fill me in with the goss

I think this could be the second coming of Darko. watch him break out in a few seasons. that would be awesome.

this could possibly make room for the Pistons to draft a similar type player this year like an Aaron Afflalo or Morris Almond.

Well he played in Italy and didn't really monster stats, abou 12-15 points average, but he played in one of the strongest European clubs and had some amazing performances.

Yeh true or even take Rodney Stuckey earlier at 15 or even javaris Crit... should be good to see how delfino fines out

Thanks for the scouting report man seems like he looked like a good player. By the way there is an Aussie who has been doing workouts in the NBA by the name of Brad Newley and i have followed his prgress in the NBL (austrlian basketball league) he seems like a good player averages about 22 points a game and good passer, quick, good shooter, good driver, good free throw shooter expect him to go late in the draft and maybe be a Delfino type player (Y)

Sorry about the comment. What's Europe and what's not is probably not as obvious for people not living here :-)

I actually thought that too for a while years back. It sounds like someplace close to Antarctica

Anyway, it's a very nice addition for Toronto, but I don't think Colangelo is done trading yet. Mo-Pete might be traded next, and maybe one or two of the scrubs.

Toronto is definitely becoming more of an internationally flavored team.

i was hoping we'd at least switch Mo-pete for Delfino...that way we at least get back an established scorer off the bench.

However, this deal sounds like the start of some fairly significant moves in Mo-town.

Perhaps Detroit has something else cooking but as far as this trade is concerned, Toronto got the better end of the deal. If the Pistons luck out and the picks yield quality players or can be packaged in a shrewd deal that might change but given they're a couple of second rounders that are two and four years down the road, they're expendable for a backup player.

I think he will work pretty well in the Raptors system and will he become Peterson's replacement or is he re-signing this year?

Delfino its a pretty good player , he can steal the ball , drive and dunk.

He need to improve his shoot , i think he will fit perfectly in this team ...

Since manu , nocioni , herrmann and oberto will not play for argentina this year Carlos will be the star , so wait to the FIBA AMERICAS tournament ....

Pretty much all signs point to his departure. Peterson's production really dropped off this year as a result of his inconsistent minutes. His iron man streak is also snapped this year most likely due to friction with Sam Mitchell and recieved many DNP-CDs for a player of his calibre.

Hell, even Colangelo stated that Peterson sucked this year and wasn't sure he would be back.

I didn't check his %, but I believe he is pretty solid behind the 3pt line, isn't he?

That's too bad cuz for a while, he really looked like he would become an All-Star at some point. That guy can have some serious shooting streaks...
