Nice coverage. Some pretty sick dunks by all contests, although that Nate dunk with his arm in the hoop was awesome. Can't believe he can jump that high (Y)

Wow Nate won the dunk contest. There must be something seriously wrong with the engine in live, becuase theres no way Nate would win a dunk contest without the help of kenny smith

My fault really. :( I almost ran out of time because I was trying for a lob so I just had him run up and did the up-and-under...he only needed a 42 to win and it turned out the dunk was enough for a 44. If I hadn't screwed up with Iggy in the first round, I reckon he'd have taken it. ;)

East All-Star (129) at West All-Stars (125)
East nab bragging rights for another year

The Eastern Conference All-Stars made it two straight in the NBA's midseason classic, defeating the Western Conference All-Stars 129-125 behind 25 points from Vince Carter. Carter shot 9/15 from the field and added 3 rebounds and 3 assists in a spectacular performance in front of an enthusiastic Houston crowd.

With the game tied at 33 after the first quarter, Kobe Bryant led a West charge to take a ten point lead halfway through the second. The East would rally but Bryant closed out the quarter strong, nailing a long three in the final seconds to give the West a 66-59 lead at the half. But Vince Carter scored 10 points in the third quarter as the East stormed right back, taking a 94-91 lead into the final quarter.

The West recaptured the lead early in the fourth and held it for most of the fourth quarter. The East weren't about to lay down their arms however and evened the score setting up a basket-for-basket dogfight through the final three minutes. After missing the second of two free throws, Paul Pierce chased down his own rebound and was fouled again. He then sank both free throws to put the game out of reach.

Vince Carter earned All-Star Most Valuable Player honours for the first time in his career, with his 25 points leading all scorers in the game.

Overall, not a bad weekend though I was disappointed in some of the choices the CPU made for the All-Star teams and that Ben Gordon couldn't participate. Anyone, hope you enjoyed the All-Star coverage, the regular season will resume again soon. :)

Once again, awesome presentation again. I have to question the all star lineups for the east, with francis and larry hughes in the team. But the west is very life like, with dirk and allen in the starting lineup but its something i could see happening. But the east won. whoa. Did you control the east or switch over at each quarter? very nicely done, and i look forward to bulls resuming there quest for a playoff spot.

Thanks man. :) I played with the East for the first quarter, the West for the second, the East for the first six minutes of the third and the West the rest of the way, then the East for the entire fourth quarter. It seemed to balance out the minutes without getting in the way of the challenge, and it was fun to be able to play with all the All-Stars instead of limiting myself to one team.

It was a good idea, you also ensured each player got minutes on both sides. I'm only 15 games away from my all star game, its a nice break in an 82 game season. did any players that you use tempt you to make a deal to bring to chicago?

Not really, I did think a couple of times it would be cool to have some of the players but a trade wouldn't be feasible. I could trade for Brezec, but I might pass on that. If I'm going to break up the current core, it'll be for a higher profile player than him.

Nice coverage (Y) Sounds like it was a close game, I agree that the selections were a bit odd, Brezec?? No Wade, No Iverson, No Detroit players.... I especially think Ben Wallace would be more deserving than Brezec.....

Anyway I look forward to the rest of the season and the playoff run.

I did wonder about Wade but then remembered that he's spent a lot of time injured though and I forgot to correct his Primacy rating so he's only just starting to perform as he should again. There really were some odd decisions though.

Minnesota (128) at Chicago (91)
Listless Bulls lose fifth straight

[ Boxscore ]

The Chicago Bulls' struggles continued with a loss to the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves, who had won just 15 games entering tonight's contest. Kirk Hinrich scored 20 points in the first half as the Bulls trailed by only five but the team appeared lifeless through the next two quarters as the Timberwolves outscored them 68-36 in a 128-91 thrashing.

Kevin Garnett scored 32 points in addition to grabbing 5 rebounds and blocking 4 shots in the rout of Chicago. The Timberwolves also benefited from a 24 point, 11 rebound performance from reserve Eddie Griffin while Troy Hudson scored an extremely efficient 21 points in 14 minutes off the bench, shooting 8/10 from the field including 3/4 from downtown. Five Bulls would score in double figures led by Hinrich's 22 but their offense was stagnant in the second half.

"We pretty much raised the white flag at the end of the third," Bulls' coach Andrew Begley remarked. "We just had no fire, no fight, no passion tonight." The Bulls shot just 40% from the field and committed 27 turnovers. "They had our number in everything," Begley observed. "We made more three pointers and that's about all. And we still needed 29 attempts to do that."

The final word went to Shawn Kemp however. "We're getting down when we need to get angry," the veteran forward and former All-Star explained. "We're sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves. We need to get angry and be aggressive out there. We can't focus on how tough things are without Ben. We need to suck it up and play our (butts) off."

Bulls make deadline deals

CHICAGO, IL -- The Chicago Bulls announced they have traded guard Wesley Person to the New Orleans Hornets for forward Jackson Vroman. Person appeared in 53 games for the Bulls after signing with the team this past offseason, posting an average of 3.2 ppg.

The Bulls also announced guard Jannero Pargo and forward Darius Songaila have been traded to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guard Royal Ivey and forward John Thomas. Songaila had appeared in 47 games for the Bulls this season but saw limited minutes behind Shawn Kemp and Michael Sweetney.

Veteran swingmen Sprewell, Smith sign with Chicago

CHICAGO, IL -- Chicago will look to fill the void left by Ben Gordon's injury with their two latest acquisitions, veterans Latrell Sprewell and Steve Smith. Both players will be in uniform when the Bulls take on the Detroit Pistons tonight in Chicago. Smith will reportedly wear his familiar number eight while Sprewell will wear number fifteen, the same number he wore for the Golden State Warriors from 1992-1998.

As per NBA rules, terms of the contracts were not disclosed but Sprewell reportedly signed a one year deal in the range of $5 million while Smith's contract runs two years and is estimated to be around $2 million. The Bulls are expected to have over $12 million in cap space this upcoming offseason.

The Bulls released the recently acquired trio of Royal Ivey, Jackson Vroman and John Thomas to make room for Smith and Sprewell.

Depending on how Spree plays, he might be taking Gordon's minutes until he gets back though I still plan on playing Duhon a bit. Steve Smith will be taking over Wesley Person's role, he might be getting a bit more PT than Person did but that depends on how well he plays as well. Once Gordon returns he'll naturally get the nod over both of them but even then I expect they'll see decent time here and there.

Wow, Primoz Brezec is an all-star now? . Who would have thought when he was on the Pacers with an overall rating of 30 lol.

I love the signing of Latrell Sprewell (Y) . Give him a Bulls ring  .

Tough loss to KG and the Wolves.

Detroit (105) at Chicago (109)
New faces help Bulls snap losing streak

[ Boxscore ]

For the Bulls, reinforcements have finally arrived.

Chicago had gone just 1-6 after Ben Gordon broke his wrist on February 4th against the Phoenix Suns and had lost five straight entering tonight's contest. The team has undergone several changes in the past couple of weeks, acquiring Elden Campbell and Dajuan Wagner earlier this month and swinging deals at the deadline that allowed them to bring in Latrell Sprewell and Steve Smith, who were both in uniform tonight.

The two latest acquisitions showed they might just be able to fill the void left by the injured Gordon as they combined for 20 points on 9/19 shooting, 2 assists and 3 steals in the Bulls' 109-105 victory. Kirk Hinrich scored 8 of his 10 points in the fourth quarter after struggling with his shot all night long. Andres Nocioni led the way with 18 points in addition to six rebounds and six Bulls scored in double figures in the win.

Chicago looked strong early, taking a 10-4 lead in the first four minutes of the game and held a 24-19 advantage at the end of the first quarter. They seemed to fall into old habits in the second quarter as the Pistons attacked the basket relentlessly and disrupted the Bulls' offense throughout the period, outscoring Chicago 34-22 to take control of the game by halftime. Chicago made run after run in the third quarter but the Pistons always seemed to have an answer and extended their lead to ten heading into the fourth.

The Bulls had seen enough. Sprewell and Hinrich found their way to the hoop for layups and Tyson Chandler converted on some second chance opportunities as Chicago crawled their way back into the game. Hinrich put the Bulls ahead 100-99 on a layup for their first lead since the opening quarter but a Rasheed Wallace beat Shawn Kemp off the dribble to put the Pistons back up by one. The teams traded baskets on the next two possessions before a Hinrich layup put the Bulls ahead for good 104-103. Sprewell later made two free throws to give Chicago some breathing room as they held on for the 109-105 victory, ending their five game losing streak.

Notes: Both teams combined for 46 turnovers (Chicago, 19; Detroit, 25)...Detroit held a slight rebounding edge overall (38-37) but outrebounded Chicago at the offensive end 18-12...the Bulls attempted only 10 three pointers, making one. Hinrich was 0/5 from downtown...with the victory Chicago guaranteed a win in the season series. The teams will play once more March 8th, in Detroit.

Nice job on the trades and signings, works well for oyu to finish the season strong then have lots of options for the offseason (Y)

I'm supprised oyu dont take more treys with Deng and Noci, maybe you should look at running "Single Double" to try get Deng (or Noci if he is playing the 3) so long range jumpers (Y)

Chicago (136) at Philadelphia (82)
Spree scores 31 in blowout of Philly

[ Boxscore ]

Chicago's tough month has come to a close in spectacular fashion with a 136-82 victory over the Philadelphia Sixers, who were 34-20 coming into tonight's game. Latrell Sprewell started the game at shooting guard and scored 31 points in only his second game for the Bulls, shooting 14/20 from the field as well as handing out 3 assists.

The Bulls simply dominated the Sixers from start to finish, beginning the game on a 12-2 run and at one point led the game 26-4. Allen Iverson started the game for the Sixers but still appeared to be feeling the effects of his recent injury. He finished with 14 points on 7/13 shooting but played only 25 minutes in the loss. After outscoring the Sixers an amazing 40-14 in the first quarter they kept the pressure on in the second, extending their lead by five for a 31 point advantage at the half.

Philadelphia would never challenge the lead in the second half, scoring only 44 points while the Bulls ran off another 67. All five Bulls starters scored in double figures and 11 of their 12 players scored at least six points. John Salmons led the Sixers with 16 points in 28 minutes off the bench.

Notes: The Bulls won the battle on the boards 49-28 though the Sixers held a 15-11 advantage on the offensive glass...Chicago shot 51/84 from the field (60.7%) while Philadelphia went 34/88 (38.6%)...Philadelphia shot below 40% in three quarters including 32% in the fourth.

Sprewell exploded! Good to see the Blazers doing good. Although there's some unrealistic records, like Detroit sort of struggling, Timberwolves only 16 wins, other than that, pretty realistic (Y) .

Only 2 months to go and then the finals. Do you think the Bulls are contenders or they could at least 'make some noise' in the play-offs
