Press Release - Four-time Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace of the Detroit Pistons highlights the 2005-06 NBA All-Defensive Teams, the NBA announced today. Making his fifth consecutive appearance on the All-Defensive First Team, Wallace is joined by leading vote-getter Bruce Bowen of the San Antonio Spurs , named to the All-Defensive Team for the sixth consecutive season.

Also selected to the First Team are forwards Andrei Kirilenko of the Utah Jazz , making his third All-Defensive Team appearance, and 2003-04 Defensive Player of the Year Ron Artest of the Sacramento Kings , named to the All-Defensive Team for the second time. Tying in votes received and rounding out the First Team are guards Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and Jason Kidd of the New Jersey Nets , receiving their sixth and seventh All-Defensive honors, respectively.

I'm really satisfied with this year's first team selections, but I'm annoyed that Kobe got it while Gerald Wallace missed out completely.

As a Kobe fan, I am really surprise he got onto the First Team list...
But well, he didn't get the MVP... so he should get something else

Where's Gerald Wallace? I know he's been injured a for a good portion of the season, but his defensive numbers are too impressive to leave off the first team. Thats probably my only complaint though.

I'm surprised and happy Kobe got it. :)

So there were 6 selections to the first team. Sounds wierd in a way.

Got to agree with Its_adsf, Gerald Wallace put up really impressive numbers. But I think it's due to his injury he was left out of (at least) the second team. Putting Kobe on the first team is questionable for me, he can play great defense but I think guys like Gerald, D. Howard or Kevin Garnett would have been a better choice for team 1.

Man i think player should vote on this, that way it wouldnt be tilted, or at least coaches should vote, that way we know who is really the best. I'm not sure if Kobe deserved it over somebody like Shaq or Gerald Wallace or Treton Hassel

...Shaq and all of his 1.76 blocks and .39 steals per game.
Hardly impressive for a centre. Even Samuel Dalembert, who plays less minutes, can do better than that (2.42 blks, .52 stls).
Even Alonzo (20 mpg, 2.66 blks).

Wow. Gerald Wallace should atleast be on the second team, if not first, even with the injuries.

i think the last 2 for the 1st all defensive team made it in by reputation (N)

Kobe, probably.

Kidd, no way. He's still got it. :D

Hahaha, just eariler this week, one of my friends was saying how Kobe is terrible at defence now that he scored 35 PPG in the season, and probably won't ever even get on the 2nd team again. He's probably swearing right now.

The first thing I did was to see if Lebron got any votes......wow
How come gerald Wallace didnt make it? despite his injury he was considered a candidate of DPOY, then how come he missed out completely?

I think Gerald Wallace and Shawn Marion should have been on one of the two teams.

Quinton Ross should be on second team over Billups.

Im happy for Kobe, but i admit certain players deserve the award more than him.

Yes, Kobe is a great defender when the occasion calls for it but this season Phil Jackson has put him into a "rover" role. He roams around and is not tasked to lock down anyone in particular.

Kobe got reputation votes, very soon guys like Gerald Wallace will be getting those reputation votes. they just need to establish their defensive reputation.

It's weird that Nash didn't get a vote. He should leave Diaw and Barbosa alone and start making his defense better.

Priceless!

I can't see why Gerald Wallace didn't make any of the two teams. Injury is no excuse, really.

How is it weird that Nash did not get a vote? That's like saying it's weird that Lamar Odom did not get a vote for mvp.

I think G Wallace & Marion should've made it... Kidd, Kobe & Chauncey are definitely head-stratchers for me

Brand should've been up there too
