Just because in one series hes been called for a lot of fouls doesn't mean hes a bad defender.

You're forgetting that he averaged nearly 4 fouls per game in only 26 mpg during the regular season. He was worse than Eddy Curry.

He fouls a lot so he is agressive. Still good at d.

Allen Iverson had a great crossover on Michael Jordan back in his rookie season. I guess that makes MJ a terrible defender. Kobe Bryant's had a couple of games shooting around 30%, I guess he's an ineffective and lousy scorer. Hakeem Olajuwon just about faked David Robinson out of his shoes on more than a couple of occasions in the 1995 Playoffs. I guess the Admiral was clueless on defense.

Sarcastic exaggerations aside, Chandler isn't amongst the best defenders in the league, no question there. But you can't base an assessment of his defense on a single play or a few games against an aging but still very physically imposing and dominant centre in Shaquille O'Neal.

imo, if the bulls trade chandler now they would end up regretting it within 3 years, i would hold on to him a bit longer. i dont see them getting back anything in return worth dropping tyson.

thats probably true, no one would give the bulls anything good, and he still has some potential. Send him to the D league, then he would average 25ppg 15rpg and 5bpg then trade him. lol

No argument here, as I said I think they should wait at least a couple more years and try to make the most out of their investment in him before giving up on him. But if he hasn't shown any improvement in a couple of years and is looking more expendable it might be for the best if they trade him before his stock drops further.

well the bulls are in a great position, they could get the #1 draft pick, top 5 no matter what. plus they have their own draft pick, which makes 2 draft picks in the first round. None of their good players are free agents at the end of this season. So maybe they can get a guy with good size with their top pick, and best player left with the second pick. So i guess holding onto chandler now isnt that bad, he just hasnt been very productive in the heat series.

Ideally they'll be able to get someone in the draft or perhaps through free agency within the next couple of years who can give them that inside presence that they need, even if he's not a perceived franchise player. I'm not saying they should waste picks and money on scrub big men who in the end make little difference except raise the average height on the team, but with some of the players they have in place to shoulder the offensive load perhaps it won't matter if they can't grab the next great centre.

i doubt trading gordon for kmart would be a good move. the bulls dont need to trade anyone, just draft and sign a FA or two. I cant see them trading Gordon, Hinrich, Duhon, Deng, Nocioni, or sweetney.

He's very athletic but not great skill-wise. He has to defend a lot with his arms, hence all the fouls. He's not great with his lower body.

He's not being used all that well w/ the Bulls as a Center, because they don't have one. Supposedly he had a good jump shot in school, out to 3 point range, but we rarely see that out of him on the Bulls. Scouts originally pegged him as more of a tall SF/PF like Jonathan Bender/Radmanovic/Tim Thomas, not a back to the basket Center. He had no post game even in high school.

It would be a shame to see him leave the Bulls, but if it ever happened it might be the best thing for his career, much like Tim Thomas.

They can't send him to the D-League, he's been in the league for too long. There's a limit on it, I think it's 2 or 3 years.

Well, it was either overpaying a skinny, lazy, non-offensive rebounder (Chandler) or overpaying a fat, lazy, offence-only centre who can't rebound and has potential heart problems (Curry), and the chances of acquiring a solid big man in the off-season was slim, so I guess they didn't have much of a choice.

I would like to see Chandler succeed in the NBA though, I think he just needs some confidence offensively.

well the only good "center" they could have taken was amare stoudamire who was a big question mark, or Krstic who went late first round. Other then that there werent any good centers in that draft. Of course anything would be better then jay williams now.

hindsight is blinding but i'll play this game and add that they should have not traded Brad Miller, let alone let Krause run.ruin the team post Bulls Dynasty

yeah in hindsight you can make anyone or team look foolish. for instance imagine the team my celtics would have had if we didnt spend 3 years drafting crap players. all we did was load up on picks and each year we blew them on joke players, or traded the player before giving them a real chance.
