LA Daily News wrote:"It's special because we've been through so much," said Bryant, who was called uncoachable by Jackson in the coach's best-selling diary of the 2003-04 season. "We've been through so many battles, we've been through so many things.
"And it's special for me because when I play the game, I play the game to try to please him. If he's happy with my performance, it makes me happy because I learned the game from him. ... He just looked at me and smiled at me and said he was proud of the way I played."
LA Daily News also wrote:On a historic night, Bryant said the most memorable thing might have been a phone call he took in the locker room from Magic Johnson afterward.
"That meant more to me than the game itself because I idolized him as a kid," Bryant said, "and for him to call me and tell me what a great game it was and how proud of me he is, that meant more to me than 81 points."

He scored 81 points on his 666th career game.
The year is 06.
He took 66 shots to get there (42 from the field, 20 from the line).

In my country, 42+20 = 62![]()
In my country too
i'd still say wilt chamberlain is much better than him.. imagine scoring 100 points without a 3-point arc? or being double-, sometimes even triple-teamed? kobe may score 100 or more in the future but wilt is still better..
and to hell with jordan thinking these feats can't be done these days.. he underestimated other players and overestimated himself..

the link is not working today. Last night, it worked and I got to watch the first half but had to closed it out. From what I noticed in the first half I have to say that Kobe didn't start the second quarter and didnt until 5:37 left in the quarter. Right after he came back in he shoots and 2 points. Before he came back in the whole team was shooting 1/11 from the field. That is horrible.

It's because NBA.com takes games off their server after 48 hours. You can buy it off google though.I have filefront links if you want those.
"I don't think it takes away from the attention of winning," Parker said. "We're going to go out and play basketball. If our shots come, we're going to take it. If his shots come, he's definitely going to take it.
"We as a team don't think we rely on Kobe to score 80 points a game. Kobe feels like he can score any time he wants. He puts the team on his back when he feels we need it. We have six or seven other guys on the team who can score a little bit."
"That's going to be his place in history," Odom said. "Right now, he's really focused and feels like it's his league. Before the 81 points, Kobe should have been getting his due as far as the MVP."
