Kobe scored 62 not even a month ago. He scored 81 two days ago. Any bets on Kobe aiming for 100 before March?

not likely but anything is possible.

LA Daily News wrote:"It's special because we've been through so much," said Bryant, who was called uncoachable by Jackson in the coach's best-selling diary of the 2003-04 season. "We've been through so many battles, we've been through so many things.

"And it's special for me because when I play the game, I play the game to try to please him. If he's happy with my performance, it makes me happy because I learned the game from him. ... He just looked at me and smiled at me and said he was proud of the way I played."

LA Daily News also wrote:On a historic night, Bryant said the most memorable thing might have been a phone call he took in the locker room from Magic Johnson afterward.

"That meant more to me than the game itself because I idolized him as a kid," Bryant said, "and for him to call me and tell me what a great game it was and how proud of me he is, that meant more to me than 81 points."

I have no idea what is in Kobe Bryant's head. He's either out of touch with reality or just totally dishonest...

I don't think any NBA player will ever reach 100 again. If Kobe were to do it it would take something inhuman , like 30 in the first half and 70 in the second half...I don't see Kobe pulling that off. Then again , I wouldn't be surprised if his career high increased every 33 days. One day it'll be 62 then 81 then 90 then who knows? ;)

Thats the link of the day. Good find.

EDIT: As a side note, its funny how the same people who predicted the Lakers not to even come close to making the playoffs cant even give him props for his contribution in keeping his team in the picture.

The year is 06.
He took 66 shots to get there (42 from the field, 20 from the line).

In my country, 42+20 = 62 :?

In my country too

I meant 46

Wait, so I actually learned the basic math. Well, good for me. KOBE IS SATAN!

Wed Jan 25, 2006 7:49 pm

i'd still say wilt chamberlain is much better than him.. imagine scoring 100 points without a 3-point arc? or being double-, sometimes even triple-teamed? kobe may score 100 or more in the future but wilt is still better..

and to hell with jordan thinking these feats can't be done these days.. he underestimated other players and overestimated himself..

calm down, he's a pinoy.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kobe scored 100. He had 55 in the second half against the Raptors. Two halves in a row worse than that and he's got 101.

He's an incredible scorer, but if other guys in the league completely forgot about passing and focused totally on their point totals, they'd be doing stuff like this too...

. I mean, c'mon! Mcgrady admitted he played only for his points total in his last season(s) with Orlando and he 'only' broke the 60 point mark.

Thu Jan 26, 2006 3:25 am

I don't just mean this season. I mean the focus of all his practice since coming into the league has been on being a better scorer...and as I said he's become incredible at it...

But don't forget...40 points and 11 assists is the same output as 62 points and 0 assists...

Thu Jan 26, 2006 3:39 am

...and defender, but isn't this what his position is all about?

Thu Jan 26, 2006 3:56 am

I'm about to watch the game on nba tv...i need to see this for myself. The commentators are doing regular banter..little do they know that it was gonna be a historic night :)

the link is not working today. Last night, it worked and I got to watch the first half but had to closed it out. From what I noticed in the first half I have to say that Kobe didn't start the second quarter and didnt until 5:37 left in the quarter. Right after he came back in he shoots and 2 points. Before he came back in the whole team was shooting 1/11 from the field. That is horrible.

Thu Jan 26, 2006 6:48 am

By the way do you think Kobe will go for another 80+ points game? or maybe after Wilt's 100 points?

Thu Jan 26, 2006 6:56 am

Maybe, who knows, but there will be a lot (45 or more) games in this year, thats for sure.

It's because NBA.com takes games off their server after 48 hours. You can buy it off google though. :? I have filefront links if you want those.

I liked these quotes. Smush Parker sounds a bit disgruntled

"I don't think it takes away from the attention of winning," Parker said. "We're going to go out and play basketball. If our shots come, we're going to take it. If his shots come, he's definitely going to take it.

"We as a team don't think we rely on Kobe to score 80 points a game. Kobe feels like he can score any time he wants. He puts the team on his back when he feels we need it. We have six or seven other guys on the team who can score a little bit."

I don't know what's up with Odom. One minute Kobe's bashing him up or something, the next minute:

"That's going to be his place in history," Odom said. "Right now, he's really focused and feels like it's his league. Before the 81 points, Kobe should have been getting his due as far as the MVP."

I saw it Sunday on Sportscenter when he had 78 or something and then he got 81...

KOBE IS THE MAN!  :applaud: :headbang:
