Well before he lands NBA, he is going to play in Australia's NBL !!!
http://sports.sina.com.cn/cba/2005-12-0 ... 7541.shtml
This is sort of confirmed in above sina.com article.
Liu Xiaoyu will go to join Sydney Kings of NBL of Australia, the current champion team of NBL (Champion for 3 consecutive seasons already).
He will study as a student, while playing for Sydney Kings.
The Sydney Kings confirmed that he will be given same treatment and training as the other players on the roster, and a bi-monthly report will be submitted to CBA regarding Liu Xiaoyu's progress, and if situation warrants, priority will be granted for releasing Liu Xiaoyu back to represent China in international competition/tournaments.
Well according to the above sina.com article, alot of people had worked behind the scene to make this happen, including the Chairman and Gerneral Manager of the Guangdong Hongyuan Tigers (the team Liu Xiaoyu belongs to), top Chinese leader and member of NSW Legislative Council in Australia, Henry Tsang , the Consul-General (of China to Australia)Qiu Shaofang and Li Yuanwei, the CBA Commissioner.
So great news for this young lad !!!

ABA All Stars will be held at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida on February 21 (Tuesday).
The roster of the West and East All Stars will be finalized Feburary 2.
But yesterday, ABA announced 4 of the following players making the All Stars, and Sun Yue is among the list !!!
The 4 All Stars are:-
Eastern Division
Tim Hardaway of Florida Pit Bulls
Chandler Thompson of Indiana Wildcats
Western Division
Jerry Dupree of SoCal Legends
Sun Yue of Beijing Olympians
To pick All Stars players from 48 ABA teams is not going to be easy. So ABA devised the following methods:-The head coach of the #1 team of the most winning ratio in the West and East will be the Head Coaches for the 2 All Stars team.
The head coaches of the #2 and #3 teams in each division will be the Assistant Coaches
The 6 coaches will then pick the players they think worthy All Stars players. And only maximum 2 players can be picked from one team.
Each team will have 14 players; i.e. 28 players can be All Stars.
Unanimously, the above 4 were first selected and announced.
ABA Co-Founder/Chairman Joe Newman said: "The selected All Stars are players that helped lead their respective teams with their outstanding performance and leadership. Like Sun Yue, the 6ft 9 point guard; his playing style on-court reminds us of the LA Lakers' basketball legend, Magic Johnson. Such players are indispensable for the All Stars Game. He is definitely an All Star."
After knowing that he got selected to be an All Star, Sun Yue said: "This is an affirmation to my current performance. The ABA All Stars are hand-picked by the coaches, and that means all the All Stars need to be the top players of ABA. I'm much honored to be selected to the All Stars Game. At the moment, the full list of the All Stars has yet to be announced; I personally think Huang Haibei might have the opportunity to be selected as well. At the All Stars Game, we will be able to prove to the world that China has many other good basketball players. It is 3 weeks away from the ABA All Stars. I will continue to diligently lead my team for more wins to prove my worth as an All Star."
