Antawn Jamison

I just felt like giving Antawn Jamison some love as I feel he doesnt get recognized enough even though he has been putting up solid numbers over the years. I have been watching this guy since his Tar Heel days and he is very quick for his size while he can score in bunches with a vast assortment of shots.




Does any body else in here like Antawn's game?

He's a great rebounder. I bet most people don't know that he is 10th in the league in rebounds per game.

Career avg- 19.1 ppg, 7.5 rpg

Solid numbers imo for a guy who i think isnt appreciated as much as he should.
He also has put up the big 50 a couple times already.

He also had his best season so far in 00-01 when he put up 25 ppg, 9 rpg, and 2 dimes.

Dada, thats way of appreciating him? Posting a picture? You have to be kidding. How about talking about he played through the constant laughter from fans that Golden State traded him for Vince? How about how he scored back to back 50 point games and outdueled Kobe in 2000/01? How about the fact he never really blasted his subpar team in Golden State and tried to stick around to help the warriors get back on their feet? How about how he was willing to come off the bench for Dallas in 2004 and was willing to sacrifice his game for the good of the team (somthing dirk has yet to do)? How about when he was traded to washington he never complained, he kept his head high and led a young team who have never experienced winning to the second round?

He doesn't really get that much recognition, but he was an all-star last year. He had an injury earlier this season so he struggled a bit, so I think that is why people aren't paying enough attention to him this season.

he probably could make the underrated list but his contract is quite large... i think he's a poor man's tim duncan.... puts up nice numbers in a quiet way and finds ways to help his team win...

Dweaver, you seriously have to stop living in 2002. Duncans biggest impact is on the defensive side of the ball with rotations and rebounding. Tony Parker, Manu, Finely all can carry the spurs now offensively, but its duncans help defense that anchors the spurs excellent defense. Just look at how good he has made Bowen! All BB has to do is force his man into help (which is duncan 90% of the time) and he's "shut his man down". Without Duncan, they'd be a really soft defensive team.

is just dumb, when he is still the team's leading scorer, albeit being awful from the FT line.

Many people CAN carry the Spurs offensively, but Duncan is the one who actually DOES.

You yourself said in the Vince Carter for MVP thread that Carter doesn't carry the Nets (despite leading them in scoring by over 7 ppg more than Jefferson, compared to Duncan who averages less than 1 ppg more than parker) so which is it? Parker also averages more assists and is shooting a higher percentage. And besides, even if Duncan is running the spurs offense (i say its around 40 % duncan, 40% parker, 20% manu) duncan is more valuable to the spurs in terms of his rebounding and help defense. Its similar to ben wallace, only not as drastic.

The fact that he carries them offensively doesnt necessarily mean that is his biggest impact on the game. He may carry them but where would they be now without him clogging up the paint and getting all the important boards? He isnt that prolific a scorer for me to say thats his biggest asset. They have so many options that they can survive an off night offensively from Duncan.

I agree that he is the defensive mainstay. But he is as valuable if not more on offense. just getting that extra man to help out is a huge boost to the team's offense as a whole, and should not be downplayed.

That has zero influence on Parkers game whatsoever, as Parker always has one defender on him, and when he gets into the lane, he draws help in a similar fashion to how timmy draws help defenders
