Agreed, though Isiah was a bit weak on commentary. They were trying to push Kobe a bit too hard. My favourite was Isiah talking enthusiastically about how Kobe can speak fluent Italian and French. Impressive, interesting, but totally irrelevant to the great play he made at the time. I also found it interesting when Kobe made that behind-the-back dribble and the floater, Isiah exclaimed he'd never seen anything like that before. Not to take anything away from the move, but Isiah did play against Magic Johnson...though on the other hand perhaps it's no surprise he's blotted those memories out.

Paul Pierce will get in the game, but he won't start. After all, how exciting are fadeaways?

Apparently pretty exciting because Kevin Garnett has been voted into the starting lineup for like 7 straight years.

KG is a 6-footer in a 7-foot body. A mutant.

That's exciting.

You forgot to mention his sick hops.

OK, then, he's a mutant with hops.

Did Magic ever go behind his back before the hookshot?

Pierce is definitely deserving but will probably make the team as a reserve
rotoworld reported today:
As of right now, here are the leading All-Star vote getters: Western Conference - Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Eastern Conference - Shaquille O'Neal, Jermaine O'Neal, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Allen Iverson.
Maybe Stern should change the all star voting system to how the NFL selects the Pro Bowlers. I believe the NFL factors in fan, players, and coaches vote?

Finally, the east starts a power forward instead of 2 smalls!
I mean... seeing KG and TD against Vince and T-mac/Grant Hill was getting quite bizarre

In the exact way Kobe made that move? I don't recall one offhand, though Isiah did seem to suggest he'd never seen that kind of ballhandling wizardry. Again, not a slight on Kobe it was just funny the way they were pushing him and probably an example of how much of the anti-culture began. The comment about him speaking fluent French and Italian was just completely, hilariously irrelevant because it came in the middle of Costas and Walton talking about the play he just made and his basketball skills in general.
EDIT: Typo.

Thomas says some idiotic things.
I agree with you that that's a very weird way of pushing him.

Thats kinda funny, I could see it now......
Kobe makes a fancy reverse layup
Walton- "Wow, this kid has amazing athleticism."
Costas- "I totally agree, he has a knack for improvisation."
Isiah- "Yesiree, you see Kobe is able to pull off that shot because he has a vast coin collection which he began while living in Italy."
....great analysis.

I'm not sure which was worse, his commentary or one of Costas' monologues.

pretty much the same i think....

Wait, why wasn't Pierce going to make it? He's listed as a F, starting F's: Lebron and JO. As a starter, not really because Lebron is a better SF, and JO is about as good and winning more.
His only real competition at F on the bench numbers wise is Bosh, winning wise, Rasheed Wallace, no other All-Star F is really winning in the East. The others are Webber, Jamison, and Jefferson.

Anybody who puts up those numbers deserve to make it. Granted he's up against other potential all-stars with better records under their belt, so it'll be tough for the coaches to decide.
