Andrew wrote:Agreed, though Isiah was a bit weak on commentary. They were trying to push Kobe a bit too hard. My favourite was Isiah talking enthusiastically about how Kobe can speak fluent Italian and French. Impressive, interesting, but totally irrelevant to the great play he made at the time. I also found it interesting when Kobe made that behind-the-back dribble and the floater, Isiah exclaimed he'd never seen anything like that before. Not to take anything away from the move, but Isiah did play against Magic Johnson...though on the other hand perhaps it's no surprise he's blotted those memories out.
As of right now, here are the leading All-Star vote getters: Western Conference - Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Eastern Conference - Shaquille O'Neal, Jermaine O'Neal, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Allen Iverson.

In the exact way Kobe made that move? I don't recall one offhand, though Isiah did seem to suggest he'd never seen that kind of ballhandling wizardry. Again, not a slight on Kobe it was just funny the way they were pushing him and probably an example of how much of the anti-culture began. The comment about him speaking fluent French and Italian was just completely, hilariously irrelevant because it come in the middle of Costas and Walton talking about the play he just made and his basketball skills in general.
