do you think lebron will ever avg a triple double?

Thu Jan 05, 2006 11:02 pm

i dont think so. he is capable of doin but i dont think he will

Thu Jan 05, 2006 11:04 pm

Realistically no, but he probably could if he really wanted to. He doesn't seem completely driven by stats *cough*tracymcgrady*cough* so I'm not sure it's something he'll really go after.

Thu Jan 05, 2006 11:20 pm

No one will ever duplicate Oscar Robertson.

Thu Jan 05, 2006 11:35 pm

You can't be serious. We already have guys averaging close to 25/7/7. It's not a stretch to think that someone will do it again one day.

Thu Jan 05, 2006 11:38 pm

Triple Double? Probably not.

28, 8 and 8? Probably.

Thu Jan 05, 2006 11:51 pm

No way, he has been caring more about scoring this year.
i think it would be diaw, only if he could play like 40+ minutes per game.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 12:22 am

As Jae said, only if he intentionally went after such a goal. But then again, the Cavs would sink to teh abyss, so...

Fri Jan 06, 2006 12:30 am

I voted Yes for the fact that i want to see SOMEONE do this...

Fri Jan 06, 2006 12:41 am

He did average 27 or 28/8/8 at the age of 19/20, so he could be better this season. The thing is he isn't the teams by-far-the-primary-ballhandler once again because he has to share that duty with Hughes, who is also a great rebounder for his size and position. Plus , they got Marshall, who is also a great rebounder in his own right. I would have to say that his rebounding and assists average will raise in Hughes' absence and return to his last year's numbrs.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:25 am

I think the closest he will get will be when he is in his prime, and it will be somethin like 35, 9 and 8.
I cant see him averaging much more than 7-8 assists.

But hey, if he helps Cleveland win championships, who really cares what he averages....he said it himself, that he would take 5 or 10 pts a nite if it meant winning.

He might've said that, but it's a crock of shit. Guys say things like this all the time full knowing that they'll never only get 5 or 10 points per night. If someone came out and said "Oh I'd be happy playing 1 minute per game if we were winning"... you know that person would be demanding a trade after 2 games.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 2:56 am

it's a bit diff with minutes, but yes, taking less shots after taking plenty is a hard task, especially if you don;t trust teammates.

i think GH averaged 18, 9.8 and 7.5 or so, that's pretty good SF #'s.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 3:12 am

It's much easier to gather energy to pull down that extra rebounds&assists if you score 18 points per as opposed to LBJ's 30.

pretty much my thoughts right there. i don't think it's possible for him to score 30, while pulling down 10 boards and dishing out 10 assists per game -- it's just way too much. i'd say it's possible if he drops his scoring by at least 10 points, then it'd be possible.

Yup, I completely agree. (Y)

The only player who has/will ever avrage a triple double is Oscar Robertson.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 10:54 am

Avrah3, your only saying that because your a Bucks Fan and thats where Oscar played, I think he could average it but wont.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 10:59 am

no cause its hard averaging 10 assist when u feel you can score 30+
you going to have those nights where u dont wanna pass

Fri Jan 06, 2006 11:06 am

It's less a matter of a player being capable of a triple double as the team because the hardest part of that is the assists. Point/rebound double doubles are common.

When O had that year the Royals scored 123 points per game. People thought the Suns were insanely fast run & gun last year and they weren't even close to the Royals at 110.

Maybe one day if LeBron moves to another team that's even more run & gun than Phoenix, but it doesn't like it will happen with this Cleveland team.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 11:14 am

Actually back then everyone scored like that it was a lot faster pace game.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 11:31 am

be cool if someone is able to

Fri Jan 06, 2006 11:50 am

Hecan but he wants to play team ball and i don't think he really cares about averaging atriple double.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 12:15 pm

I would say the closest he will come is probably like X points (double figures guaranteed), between 9-10 rebounds, and between 7-8 assists. I dont think he could get the assist numbers above ten consistently since some of the best point guards in the league cannot do that these days.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:47 pm

but which PG's draw dbl teams like he does?

Drop his scoring to about 18ppg, he can probably get just a shade over 10rpg and if Hill can get 7.3apg then LeBron can get 10. He's got better offensive options then Hill ever had.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:49 pm

20/7/7 25/6/6/ 30/5/5... maybe very close but never, the league is tough these days
