Why does anybody think that Spain can do a good championship?? Of course Gasol and Lopez aren't in the roster, but there're also other fantastic players. And a very important thing: a team isn't a sum of several egocentric players.
Analysis:
Starters:
-Jose Calderon (PG): one of the best PG in Europe, a beast in defense and an great speed in the offense, recently signed with Raptors, but previously pretended by Maccabi Tel-Aviv (Eurochampion)
-Juan Carlos Navarro (SG): a pure scorer, nobody can't stop him if he's on fire, a devil from 3pt line
-Carlos Jimenez (SF): the heart of the team, a do-it-all player, doesn't seem to have played a good game in the stats, but always does the dark task. He can rebound (7'5 rpg in spanish league), score, assist,...
-Jorge Garbajosa (PF): the best PF in Europe, a 45% from 3pt, understands the game, always knows what to do in moments of mess, a nightmare for defenders
-Fran Vazquez (C): 11th in this draft, a great leaping ability, great shot blocker, and a nice scorer in low post
Bench:
-Carlos Cabezas (PG): hard worker in defense, very decent scorer and terrific when he's on fire
-Sergio Rodriguez (PG): future NBA next year probably, a different player, a Jason Williams kind, but some unexperimented
-Rudy Fernandez (SG): electric player, very thin, but very good leaping ability, and a scoring machine. Future NBA player
-Sergi Vidal (SG/SF): a bit undersized for SF, but a good role player
-Alex Mumbru (SF): a role player, with 45-50% from 3pt line
-Iker Iturbe (SF/PF): a Linas Kleiza kind of player, always plays decently
-Felipe Reyes (PF): unstoppable offensive rebounder, a bit unskilled, but very very tenacious
-Albert Miralles (PF/C): 40th in 2004 draft, a big defensive player with some 3pt abilities
-Ignacio de Miguel (C): an experimented role player, understands the game, won't score 20 points, but always getting good stats
Do you know a team in Europe so complete?? I suppose no
