As much reading as I do on the Christian theology and history, I actually didn't know that tidbit. I have read that the Old and New Testament are both intertwined and the New Testament was formed based on the Old Testament. The books of Job and Proverbs are stuff that shouldn't be overlooked, either, and are constantly used by Christians. Btw, there's a prophet named 'Habakkuk' in the Old Testament :!:

Oh? Really?

The pope would surley disagree with you. Infact, as I've stated before - the old testament is followed by default because of the old commandments. To further illustrate my point, let's take something most christians believe in - adam and eve. Now where is this little tidbit placed in the old testament?

Not all of the christian faith follows the old testament, very few christians try and kill their neighbour for eating shellfish. And extremly few try and sell their daughters to neighbouring countries.

But the bugger (old testament) is still a part of christians faith.

I still stick to my idea that both old testament and new testament are followed, except that Jesus overrules a lot of the laws, since he has priority over prophets. Basically interpreting as he is God, whereas the prophets made their own interpretation from God.

Christianity has whole lots of branches, so it is impossible to really define Christianity as a whole anyhow.
Bored.

It is true that Jesus overruled a lot of older laws, but I don't think Christianity dismisses the Old Testament, but uses it interchanably with the New Testament.

now i know why you are disagreeing much. you personally think that CATHOLICS are christian. which is wrong. in the bible there is no such thing as an "open" church. the "real christian" church is very strict and excommunicate members all the same. they dont have "idols" and fucked up ceremonies and wierd traditions. all in all the catholic church is not altogether taken as the basis of christianity. but because of their tremendous numbers they are regarded as the authority of christian faith. which is bullshit. peter as the first pope? i dont think so.

anyways before i get deeper. mr.bangyou is right. christians now follow the teachings of Jesus and not the law of moses. it is somehow upgraded these laws to adhere to the new modern society we have today. the psalms and the proverbs are still taken for account because even Jesus uses them. ahhh the bible and all its complexity. dont you know that you have to learned first a lot before you think that the bible is a great book. i mean the words of the devil and many other evil men are also in there. if you et all confused and taken out of context you might be following the worng teachings. so faith in christ is not easy as going to mass each sunday my friend. sorry

Only the Roman Catholics might prove an exception... the Old Testament is obsolete, but no highly regarded Church member will admit that publicly... something about holy books always having to be right, I guess...

And I would surely disagree with any Roman Catholic who claims he is a true Christian.
