I would rather have Olajuwon tutoring Lakers bigs. He could really make something out of Kwame. And Bynum - imagine Olajuwon's skills in (poor man) Shaq's body.

this is Kwames final chance in the eyes of fans to make something of himself.

He'll get expert tutorial and there isn't a 1-2-3 combo to launch shot after shot (just Kobe, lol). So he should see more of the ball but really its on him to stop playing like a bitch and start being assertive.

I was under the impression that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was being considered as a Laker big men personal coach..

A great player does not automatically translate into a great coach... Some have it and some don't... Not everyone can coach.

Anyhow, it's going to be an uphill battle for anyone who takes the job. Kwame Brown has certainly done his best not to learn from legendary people in the past. Bynum is still so young that I'm not sure if he will be in the right mind set to really learn from anyone.

We'll just have to wait and see...

every offseason a bunch of big men go to pete newell's acclaimed big man camp. i think this is more helpful then some big name former player with no coaching experience

Sorry for the delay in responding. As for it being MJ, a hero, you have to put it aside. In the 91 Finals, Pippen who looked upto Magic all his life, had to guard him in game 2. He had to put the whole "hero" thing aside while he played. Kwame should have done the same.

As for it being a teamate, you dont think other players had to stand up for themselves? Isiah had to when he first got to the pistons, Kobe when he got to the Lakers, Iverson when he got to the sixers etc. Just becuase a teamate goes off or trash talks doesnt mean its an excuse for a players under performing.

The thing is, not everyone is mentally strong enough to put up with that sort of thing. I'm not justifying the way he's acted or anything, or even defending him for that matter but if it's been shown that he crumbles under that sort of pressure then it would be stupid for someone to come in and start doing that to him again.

Maybe not.. if he intends on being that superstar player, he needs to learn how to deal with it from people like KG, Ben Wallace, Jermaine O'neal in big games when the lakers need him to perform.
