6,000 pointless posts on the wall, 6,000 posts on the wall..

6,000 pointless posts on the wall, 6,000 posts on the wall..

Postby J@3 on Tue Jul 05, 2005 3:43 am

WARNING: LOTS OF WORDS BELOW

Well I was going to do a "shoutout" thread for 5,000 but I seemingly managed to make 5030 posts before I noticed I was actually past 5,000. I think I'm on about 6,010 here but you know, I may aswell do something about it since I haven't made a half decent thread in a very long time.

I'm not going to do a little NLSC play like Riot or Indy did, as good as those are I don't wanna dry out the well so to speak... so I'll just do some plain ol' shoutouts... BUT... not before some random ranting that I guarantee no one on this forum will read at all.

When I first joined this site it took me ages to really get into the whole community aspect of it. I stuck to the Franchise sections and posted my Live 98 franchise stories all the way up until Live 2000 before I stopped being cheap and actually bought the new game  Despite the fact that I was here before certain guys, they actually entrenched themselves in the NBA/General Talk long before I did. I remember one of my first posts in General Talk was met by Matt (yes, Matt (Stack)) basically calling me a n00b and telling me to get lost. Ah, the pendulum has swung now hasn't it Matt.... HASNT IT!!@!@!... sorry... anyways, slowly but surely I managed to find a little spot for myself in GT/NBA Talk and haven't looked back since.

So many people have come and gone in this place, it's really surprising to think back to who the regulars once were and then realize that they've either moved to .org, or got a life. Thankfully I've somewhat managed to adapt with each rush of new guys who start posting, and as of yet I'm not really in a position where my "life" takes up so much of my time that I can't actually post here anymore. Slackers. It's like 30 minutes a day and that's all, but awell, enjoy your exams and whatever else you guys are doing. For all of you who are still reading this, congratulations... you've just wasted about 5 minutes of your time... feel free to go to "Find As You Type" and search for your name in the thread somewhere. These shoutouts will be long, lengthy and boring (as Yohance might say) so bare with me and if anyone says "omg you typed alot", fuck off.

I'm not going to start slagging anyone off, it's just the internet... it's really not worth my hassle to be honest.

In no real particular order...

Matthew: It's really weird to think that the first actual interraction I had with you/Matthew (I don't know whether to do this first, second or third person ) were huge flame wars involving Shane and usually Vince Carter. I'm really glad we had those fights though, because then by some miracle we ended up actually talking and getting along quite well. You're an absolute champion bloke, one of the most genuine people I've ever met and the amount of effort you put into the NLSC has gone so hugely unnoticed. It's not your fault at all, but it's definitely a testament that even though you've retired you're still finding the time to write an article or so for the site which really speaks for itself. You're also probably the most knowledgeable NBA fan I know in this country, and from what you tell me a good tennis player too  Personally I wish you'd keep posting, but as a friend I'll respect whatever decision you make about your NLSC future... good luck with the football career too, you're definitely going to go somewhere with that.

Andrew: My memory is a little foggy, but when you were first appointed webmaster/admin/god of this place I really had very little clue as to who you were. I think we even had a mini flame war not long after that happened, but it was nothing too rough and in my opinion the actual website itself hasn't been better in a long long time. I'd like to firstly thank you for taking some risks in the last 6 months or so. Appointing me as a moderator is the first thing, I know I'm a fairly questionable character and you had your reservations but they can't have been that strong if Matthew and co. managed to talk you into it  I really appreciate the opportunity, and bar a few slip ups I think I've done alright. Also thanks for implimenting things like the Hardwood Classics and Photoshop Sections. These are the kind of things that'll put this forum over the top, and it's mainly down to you starting to take some risks for the good of the site. You're doing a great job as admin, and will continue to do so.

Stevan: I'm not sure where Stevan is, apparentely he's kind of outgrown the forum a bit which is a genuine shame. Stevan's always going to be one of my favourite posters and people of all time here... every single time we've talked on MSN it's always been hilarious, we're like an Australian un-funny Laurel and Hardy or something it's quite fun. The projects we've thought about in the past were always fun, like "Down With Boring Cunts" which never really left the ground...oh and our plan to start another USA vs Australia war whenever the forums got a little bit boring. Who knows if we'll ever talk again since you're never on MSN or anything, but good luck with uni and hopefully you'll be helping some suicidal little brats before you know it  I think you're exactly the right kind of person to be getting into the social/youth work side of life.

Jowe: Ah Jowe... I've said it before but before I'd actually spoken to Jowe I thought he was a bit of a wanker. All I ever saw was "go to .org :) we make good patches" and various other advertising propoganda. I seriously could not have been more wrong. In the space of about 2 weeks Jowe went from being some guy I thought was a tool, to being probably the most entertaining person on my MSN list. It also coincided with the Olympics too, I think we spent nearly 2 weeks staying up until 5am watching replays of European Handball and shit  It's also fun talking to someone about where we're going to trade Kobe everytime he has a shit game. I'd go as far to say Jowe's the most underrated poster at the NLSC... people see him as just some guy who's good at burning people, but if he ACTUALLY TRIES... lazy Asian... he's a great poster. He's too busy downloading porn and making cakes to post much anymore, but still hopefully he'll come back at some point.

Jackal: I pretty much liked you from the start, the way you'd aggressively argue and pretty much go against the grain almost all the time reminded me a bit of me... as worrying as that might seem. You've gone off the rails a few times and in my opinion went a bit too far with that "incident", but the way you've managed to turn it around to the point where you're a definite possibility to become a moderator is fantastic. Not many people can swallow their pride and just apologise for something they believed in, or for another matter make up with EG after all of that rubbish so good on you. I like reading your posts aswell, it's very rare that Jackal posts anything that isn't worth reading... even if they are essay size, it's cool that someone puts in the effort here and the fact that he's got over 5,000 posts just goes to show you can spam in a quality way (I mean that seriously lol). Thankfully you haven't retired, you're one of my personal favourites here.

Nick: Sort of similar to Jowe... I didn't really have an opinion either way though before I met Nick, actually, I didn't even know who he was  but he's a really nice guy who for some bizarre reason actually comes to me of all people for advice about things. Being in a band will get you laid, it's just a fact of life so you're on the right track with that. Although I don't think Jowe's having much luck with any of the bakery girls, so maybe find him a spot in the band... he can play guitar, and he'd be cooler than your current guitar player... whomever that is... so do that. Nick sporadically posts but they're always good enjoyable posts... it's really strange how just one or two people making 6 posts each can really lift the mood of this place. I don't know how it works, it just does.

Ben: I like Ben. Ignoring all of this .org vs NLSC stuff, or the fact that I know absolutely nothing about American politics I actually really like Ben, whom I still refuse to call "Benji". Some of the things our little group did in the old days were fantastic, like Jim Basore's girlfriend for instance... or that certain time where we managed to obtain someones home phone number and address, then signed upto about a million different online things with it (Y). I highly doubt Ben will read this, and I know he seems to think not many people like him genuinely but I actually do.

David: Bunching the .orgers together  we've never really been overly close but we do seem to get along when we're not having little bitch fights about websites or whatever. To be fair to David I'm the one at fault with these things, sometimes I can't restrain from making a smart ass comment or some form of joke about .org but I do actually respect the way the brains trust there come up with new ideas to try and improve the place. Whether I think they're good ideas or not, it's the effort that makes it admirable.

Dmit + Rens + Liam: I don't talk to any of you guys anymore, for no particular reason but I have alot of good memories of things we used to get upto on MSN (no, not those kind of things) all those years ago. Our "L33t N00bs" clan on Runescape will forever remain the only group of idiots who stalked another player just because she was female. Rens' teaching of the Dutch language is another thing I appreciate, and who knows, one day I might need to use that stuff... if I'm on holidays, approaching a hooker. Another couple that won't read this, but it's a shame we're not all 14 anymore.... or 12, in Liams case.

Also general "I think you're cool" shoutouts to Repole, Tony and any other guy from .org I might've missed (and whom I actually like)

The shoutouts will get a bit smaller from here, it's nearly 3am so I'm a bit tired.

Andreas: To begin with some of your idea's for the site were a little bit opposite to what I would've wanted, but since then you've really proven yourself to be an asset to the place. I'd say on workload and whatever you're the best mod we have, and the website design looks fantastic.

Shane: Not exactly a forum regular anymore, but after we initially stopped despising each other it was really nice to get to know you. The fact that we have a similar interest in writing (you write, I like reading ) was something I didn't really expect to find at the NLSC. Good luck with the teaching thing, and that book you were having published.

air gordon: One of the top 3 posters in NBA Talk, I know you don't really buy into this whole shoutout thing... and I think I gave you one for my 1,000 thread (which was about a week ago ) but still. You've done a good job as a specialist moderator, and you know more about the NBA then I ever will lol

cyanide: When I leave this place I think you should be the new GT moderator, maybe even the Global mod if you can be bothered. It's kinda funny that someone as intelligent as you managed to ignore the fact that there was a bottom half of this forum for 2 years  but I'm glad you eventually found it, I haven't really seen anything but quality posting from you. Oh, by the way, stay away from my girlfriend :x jk jk

Matt: Matt's on holiday so he won't read this, I'll keep it short. Ignoring the whole Rip/Matt thing, which I'm still clueless about, it's cool that you've stuck around for as long as you have... even if it is to boost the knowledge of the forum wiggers.

fgrep15: We haven't really come in contact a great deal, but like air gordon you're doing a fantastic job in NBA Talk as a poster and a moderator... I think your sig making abilities (uh... if you do make them) are also highly underrated, I've never seen a sig of yours and not liked it.

Jonex: You guys are always good for a laugh... when you argue it reminds me of some old married couple for some reason  keep posting, you're both quietly quality I think... and get well Drex, I saw you whining in the Letting Off Steam Thread

Gloveguy: Man reading some of your older posts, I'm really surprised with how you turnt out as a poster here. I mean you were a bit... well yeah we've already been over that, what's important is that you're one of the better posters here at the NLSC and hopefully someday you can find the time to be more frequent.

The GOAT: For someone so young you do alright for yourself here... hopefully you won't get sick of this place by the time you're like 16 or so, which is when you'll really be able to contribute big time. Although that's like 4 years from now, which is like a quarter of your life... ha, funny stuff

Colin: Take the hex off the background and multiply it by the decimal left by the saturated cloud effect. Add a layer mask and then soften it until you get a glow effect. Crop the hair a bit better and try to blend him more into the background so it appears more subtle then use the lasso tool to trace around the afformentioned background. I.e, you're a good poster.

Mazzocchi: To be completely honest there was a point where I really REALLY couldn't stand you, but you've impressed me alot since then. We're at a point now where I actually like seeing your posts, which is bizarre in it's own right... keep posting your queer news, it's always good for a laugh and keep improving (Y)

Legend: We didn't really get off to the greatest start  but with all that behind us not only are you a really nice guy, you're actually also a really good poster. Cyanide should start his own NLSC Recruitment service or something, hope you stick around.

Riot: I think you're hilarious... admittedly you come out with some dumb shit, but I find it funny and that's all that matters. I think people underrate you somewhat, which is difficult to do to a guy who's favourite website is tshirthell.com.

Dweaver: Another one I got off to a (very) shaky start with, but you're someone I don't mind having around now. Admittedly everytime you say "What does that mean? I'm Greek :?" it cracks me up, and I'm not really a fan of your semi naked pictures but you're a good poster all the same.

COOLmac: I'm really not sure about you... part of me wants to hate you for various reasons, but part of me can't because you're always so cheerful and nice to everyone. I like the fact that you just seem to absorb insults, it's refreshing to see someone that doesn't bite back. Good luck with your future here (Y)

KevC: How many people have I got off to bad starts with  anyways I wouldn't say we're exactly best buddies or anything, but you're a bit different to how I originally saw you. You tend to make pretty good contributions in NBA Talk, so keep it up... only person I know who owns a trumpet.

Xianex: Firstly I'd like to apologise for my random attacks on you, and secondly I'm actually a slight fan of yours now. You're a good poster, and fairly young from what I remember so hopefully you'll be around here for quite a while.

alexboom: You're a funny little bloke to talk to on MSN  .. I don't even know if you're little, I just picture that gangsta bear everytime I talk to you. Good luck with your positive karma at .org

Cloudy: Might be a bit surprising seeing asthough I've never even spoken to him, but when I saw he'd signed up at the NLSC from .org I actually wanted him banned... but to be honest your posts at the NLSC have been quality, so it's nice that you're hanging around here now.

ceekay: I think you're a bit of a closet comedian... not that you're gay or anything, but I reckon you'd be really really funny if you wanted to be. Another quality poster and someone else who's good with graphics, might've had an orgasm if Gerald Green was chosen by the Knicks.

Cameron: Such a genuinely nice guy, and the only person I've ever met who plays the banjo of all things. It was fairly interesting how we managed to meet on here (and the "gay" 6am phone call will remain legendary) but even though you don't post, still one of my favourites here.

Yohance: Surprisingly we haven't really had a great deal to do with each other apart from old day flame wars, but I like what you had to offer to the NLSC. You also seemed like a nice guy on MSN, so it's a bit of a shame we didn't talk more but even still (Y)

The X: My favourite Kiwi ( :P ) poster here... not that I know any more, but even still. Doesn't post anything but quality seemingly, and also reminds me alot of other Aussie ( :P ) posters who have been and gone at the NLSC. And who would've known, also a fan of Cedric Ceballos!

Indy: Even though you're the World's biggest homer, I think you're actually a really really good poster. I make fun of you but to be honest that just means I like you. Your blind devotion to the Pacers, and the fact that you're actually going to move there for college is really impressive. Good luck to "you" for next season.

Sorry I didn't give you guys an individual comment each, but really I can sum it up easier. I think you're all quality posters, you all make good contributions and you're all great to have around. If it was 3 hours earlier you'd all get an individual comment, but yeah, it's not, so you didn't

To anyone I missed I'm sorry, it's now 3:09am but if I missed you and you should be on that list, tell me and I'll fix it up.

I'd also like to apologise to everyone for the NLSC Reality Show and the Weekly Stuff threads ending so prematurely. Things just kind of swamped me and I couldn't keep up. I've heard a few people aren't too happy about it, but all I was really trying to do is make the place a little bit more fun... I didn't want to it start eating into my own life. Anyone else is more than welcome to continue one or both if they want to.

Anyone who's still not sure about me... whether it's my attitude, the way I act etc... I'm not going to try and tell you you're right or wrong, but my main goal at the NLSC is to do my job as well as I can and to also try and make this place as good as I personally think I can.

I do put alot of effort and thought into what goes on here, mostly things no one ever picks up on but I do it because I really like this place, I don't want credit for anything and I certainly don't expect it... as long as I still enjoy loading up this site everyday I'll keep posting. I'd also like everyone to remember the other guys who do bits and pieces around the place but barely get recognized for it, and also think about the posters who actually make you keep coming to the site yourself. Thanks to everyone for being a part of the NLSC, and hopefully all of you (regardless of what I may or may not think of you ) will stay around for a long time to come.

Thanks a lot for the kind words. You may not have thought I was such a homer or that my devotion was blind back in the Isiah days. Oh man. I was so pissed off, and people thought I was going to like leave the Pacers or something. I used to bitch about Isiah all the time.

You're a great poster Jae, keep it up.

(B) Here here...although it might be wise for me to stay away from the booze.

I second everything you said about everyone, well, not about getting off to a bad start with Jowe or Shane, but about the good posters, I agree.

I've said it before & I'll say it again, the NLSC has been a lot less dull since you came along. It was bit tight fisted to say the least (not a knock on anyone!), so yeah, it's great to have you around & I hope you stick around. I want to be able to retire for the gazillioneth time & then come back and see Jae has surpassed Andrew by a single post at 2320238208538481 + 1 posts.

Hehe, oh, and just because you asked me not to do it..."omg u typed a lot!111!!!one!1One!1!!!!"

Thanks for the words, Jae. Not just the three lines that went to me, but I actually read and enjoyed everything you wrote.

I wanna refrain from anything corny, but it's certainly a pleasure posting in your presence.

EDIT: I realized I'm not actually done.

When you first came back to NLSC, I wasn't exactly aware of who you were. References of you would always pop-up here and there, but I didn't actually understand the history since my stay at Black&Blue was short.

Anyways, it's always been nice to see guys like you, Andrew, and Jackal at the top of the post-count lists because you guys really are the model of how to average [insert number] post per day, and refrain from the spamming that can be found at this forum and more frequent at other message boards.

So again, thanks for the shoutout and I hope you stick around for at least another 4,000 or so.

Thanks for the shoutout. Sometimes it surprises me that you're actually a great moderator, but you're still problably the most entertaining poster on the forums. I don't think anyone could moderate these boards better than you do. But there's one thing I want to ask you. In your sig, is Turiaf banging his head because he got chosen by wackjob Kupchak and got picked after Andrew Bynum?

Congratulations dude :bday: How long did that take you to write? () The fact that you have 6,000+ posts during a fairly short period of time is awesome considering your posts are often far from the regular ol' spam some members seem to provide. You’re a great contribution to the forum; keep up the great work and moderating, if not, posters will soon turn to the dark side...

Thanks for the shoutout and the good word; I appreciate it.

Congrats Jae. You're one of the members I remember out of no where when I'm bored and not online (what an accomplishment ). You're a great poster, and have a really disinguished personality. whenever I think Jae, I think Jae :mrt: . Jae :mrt:, the one who flames noobs. It's funny as hell  so don't change it. I do see flashes of Jae, I haven't seen any Jae :mrt: in Photoshop Lounge....I'm waiting :cussing: .

That was the most pointless, misguided post I've ever made.I jusst ranted on and on. It was pretty fun. I'll just keep doing that. Pistons SUCK! FUCKING SHITS! GO SUCK BIG HAIRY DONKEY DICK YOU LOOOOOSERS!

Thanks you, have a nice day, and congratulations :bday:

EDIT: I've been staring at Mr. T for a while, and I don't think he likes me. Plus the one on the bottom right has a dot above his mohawk. WTF?

Congrats man (Y), and thanks for the shoutout :)

I know we had some argues in the past and shit, but that dosen't really matter to me (same with you Jackal)

I like your posts actually, cause they are all very unlike anyone else posts which makes em worth reading.
You get the cudos for doing big efforts for the site with fresh thinking projects such NRS and those week reviews (wish you could do a comeback on that one).

At first I thought it would become a chaos here when you became a mod, since you flamed anyone at anytime even when they didn't do anything, but you actually faire quite well as a mod. I'm really waiting for the day you have the ability to ban people. What the other guys said goes for me too, I think you're an entertaining poster that keeps this forums alive. Somehow I hate you too though, you sometimes overdo things (e.g. jokes) and you're hating on random things. Like your thought that every white human being who listens to rap/hiphop must be a wigger, although I can see where that's coming from since you're from Australia

(I was going to try and make a funny remark here proving both that I'm not gay and I can be really funny, but I know it would turn out to be a lame, gay joke so I didn't)

Can't think of any other forum that I visit that does these shoutouts as you people quaintly call it. But it's kinda fun reading which people that actually contribute that I never got the chance to see since GT/NBA-talk was a place I Never Ventured because of all the scary people.

Anyhow... 6.000 posts?! I don't think I've amassed that amount adding up all my forums over the years. So yeah, good for you.

You are indeed one of the few-ish posters worth reading right now.

D-Wolverine 99027 wrote:(Y) 6000!!! they rack up like Kemp's illegitimate offspring...

You are doing a fine job here, and you've actually grown a little kinder and mellow-er since I came here... keep it up... (Y)

And thanks for the shoutout,as well...

you're someone I don't mind having around now.

That's the sweetest thing I've heard all year... also, those are the exact words I used to propose to my wife...

I'm not really a fan of your semi naked pictures

But there's one thing I want to ask you. In your sig, is Turiaf banging his head because he got chosen by wackjob Kupchak and got picked after Andrew Bynum?

That's what I kind of thought when I picked the picture

Thanks alot guys, I appreciate it... I won't go through every post individually, I think I killed the right to do that when I bagged both Jackal and Mafia for doing so.

Lmao did anyone else know Drex and Jona's posts were right above each other  nice work there Jonex.
