Just for the record I don't like 2pac and I don't like mainstream rap either, except Nas maybe.![]()

Even Kurt Cobain isnt a all around genious...yes he did have a degree in english but his lyrics arent very dynamic....plus he wasnt a person you would wanna idolise due to his problems with cocaine etc....Nirvana were popular when Kurt was alive but his death greatly increased the legacy of the band.
A death of an artist causes their popularity to increase no matter what genre.

Only because the people signing artists to big labels don't know anything about rap. See: Chingy, Ja Rule.
They know exactly what they are doing, do you think they give a flying fuck wether the rappers they are signing is a actually a talented rapper? They are just looking for the rapper that sells records (etc Ja Rule, 50cent), if he is a talented rapper or not is less important, as long as they sell. To quote a known rap refrain "it's all about the benjamins".
Exactly. I can see how some rap is ok, but it's so clouded with people like 50 Cent it's unbearable. I like rock more anyway, but I think I could like rap if all I heard wasn't 50 cent and ja rule. Anyway, I'm white, so I'm not allowed to like rap (I love laughing at the white kids who wear pink g-unit hats and those g-unit sneakers with huge shorts).

2pac - black audience
Matt wrote:half of 2Pac's fans are white, hell, probably more than half.
