Isiah asks Carter

At training today Isiah Thomas brought the whole team together to finally sort something out. Will Jordan start the All Star game?
Thomas said McGrady and Iverson had earnt their spots in the starting lineup through their great play this year. He said Jordan would not take one of their spots. Thomas then went on to say that the only person who can give up their spot for MJ is Carter because he hasn't earnt it. Isiah asked Carter to make the decision. Carter said "Your looking at the wrong guy."
So as of now, MJ is coming off the bench. Unless Vince has a change of heart.

If that's what took place, then it seems as though the Eastern squad would be happy with MJ starting - except Carter. Isiah Thomas is the coach...the words "Carter Freezeout" come to mind.

Hey Clinton, that's what silly Walton said, we can't confirm that. I don't think Thomas had the Guts to ask someone chosen by the fans to leave his spot, I mean, why wouldn't he ask those that have already offered it?. That's just Walton saying complaining cause Carter didn't offer it, something Carter is not forced to do.

Carter was voted as a starter by the fans....why should he HAVE to give up his spot and why should he HAVE to play less minutes because Jordan's on the team? It's simply not fair to Carter...he hasn't played all year and he WANTS to play...let him.

Because Jordan deserves the spot more then Carter. Because Jordan is the greatest player we have ever seen and is playing in his last all-star game. Because MJ only needs 10 points to become the leading scorer in allstar history. Because he should have that respect for MJ. The same respect TMac and Iverson have shown by offering their spots.

It's simply not fair to Carter

Looks to me that Carter got lucky. Starting in the allstar game on reputation alone. Nothing to do with his play this season. I am really gonna laugh if he injuries himself in the allstar game. I know it isn't a great thing to say but it would be funny.

No reporter said anything, if so it would have be shown somewhere. I just saw an interview with Thomas as well, and there he said he didn't do it the way Walton was describing. He was asking someone to step down, and looked at Carter, that's when he answered. He didn't ask Carter to make his decision or anything like that. I just told you, it's Walton comment.

Well as Carter was being announced they also announced he gave his starting spot to MJ.

He didn't ask Carter to make his decision or anything like that.

He did. And Carter made a decision. He gave up the spot.

I didn't get to see any of these interviews, but I would say that the added pressure did play a part in influencing Carter's decision, because Carter was sticking by his decision. Something must have made him have a change of heart.

Of course, most of you (fans) were complaining that have lost respect for him for not offering it. He thought to himself, I'm not going to look bad there and lose some of my fans cause of this. He decided I guess. But my point is with the original post, Thomas didn't ask him to decide or anything like that. Thomas just looked at him, that's when Carter answered "you're looking at the wrong guy", and I'm not saying this Clinton to bother you, you can watch sports center by yourself so you can hear it from Thomas, it was in today's edition at 7 pm ET.

Even I didn't vote for Carter, thought he was going to keep it that way, with respect for those that voted for him. However, I guess he did make a good choice, he will have MJ fans around him now.

Good to see him missing dunks again. Go MJ.

I'm a Michael Jordan fan, but I don't think that Carter should have stepped aside. I do think it's very noble that he did.

That's either respect or looking for publicity...I'd go for the latter rather than the former. Carter respects Jordan just as much as Iverson or McGrady does, maybe more - there's no way we can know - but just because he doesn't want to give up the award to a popularity contest doesn't mean that he doesn't have respect. Besides, what respect has Vince Carter gotten in the last year? He wants to prove himself, and sticking to his guns seemed to be a way to make himself an individual...however, in the end he caved in. His interview about it seemed less than sincere....

Yes, I would. If Ricky Davis offered Tracy McGrady his spot, I would think it was noble, but I don't think that Latrell Sprewell should have to give up his spot just because it was offered by another player.

This is rediculous, Carter should have started. Jordan is full of shit, going on about how he didnt want to start and then he does it anyways. I think it's kinda obvious that either the league or Thomas forced Carter to give up his spot too because Carter was pretty set in his decision to start and then at the last minute he changes his mind...very odd....I guess it's ok though because Jordan is just making a fool of himself trying to become the leading scorer all time in all-star games. Couple things on that one:

1. Every player is risking injury playing in the pointless All-Star game. Antione Walker has a severely injured knee, yet he played...Carter's 100%...

2. I don't think he's the greatest to play the game, and I don't think he should have started. If he had come off the bench, he still would have played 36 minutes because he's friends with Thomas...

Carter didn't get hurt, and he also didn't shoot 30% from the floor...

All this hypocricy is making my head hurt...

First, there's the thing about Carter deserving his spot or not. Nobody seems to have a problem with Yao starting, even if he doesn't deserve it. Shaq missed half the season up until now, yet he deserves it according to everyone. Carter returns from his injury, leads his team to wins, yet he doesn't deserve it... hypocrites. :roll:

Second, there's the thing about Jordan. Last All Star game or not, he didn't deserve to be there based on his play this year. The record of the Wizards isn't good (the Raptors' isn't either, but it is with Vince in the lineup). Then people can't even admit Jordan gets in based on his reputation alone. That would be the least thing you could do, especially when all your arguments point in that direction. Jordan shouldn't have started, Jordan shouldn't have been in the All Star game based on this season....hypocrites. :roll:

Third, there's the thing about haters. Every comment about Carter is passed without any comment, then Jordan misses a dunk, it's posted, and boosh! a hater shows himself... hypocrites. :roll:
