As Dan stated Lamond Murray will be back relatively soon. Recently Wilkins said that he expected a couple of guys back in the lineup after the all star break. I would think these players are Hunter and Jeffries though.

Yeah that sounds about right, Michael Stewart and a second round pick I believe. Their loss is the Raptors' gain.

It was a lottery protected 1st rounder

My mistake. Still a trade that was most advantageous to Toronto, at least on paper.

Fri Feb 07, 2003 9:16 pm

Yes I was just trying to get it accurate ;)

Raptors ripped the Cavs off in that trade, though Cleveland's goal was getting worse and getting rip of a player who didn't want to be there so I guess they both reached their goals. Yogi seems to play even less on the Cavs than what he did on the Raptors.. if possible..

At least in Toronto he was on the IR and there was a logjam at F and C, so he had that to fall back on. In Cleveland, he's simply recording DNPs. :)

And you're right, both teams fulfilled their needs in a way. Cleveland is among the leaders in the LeBron James sweepstakes, and the Raptors have Murray, who will certainly be a great addition to the Raptors' bench when he is ready to return.

Would be funny if Toronto was able (and willing) to draft LeBron James, after the Cavs gave the Raptors a good swingman basically for nothing, in an attempt to get James.

Would be funny

Ironic ;)

Wasn't Murray projected to start beside Carter?

lottery protected?
as in that if the raptors get a lottery pick then its the cavs??
so of raptors get 1st pick this year its the cavs??

Sat Feb 08, 2003 7:09 am

No. Lottery protected means it is protected from the Lottery. Thus, if the Raptors pick winds up a lottery pick, the Raptors will keep it. Otherwise Cleveland will recieve it.

That will be a small frontcourt, especially when you also have Davis at centre.

Not really...Carter could easily slide to guard...

Since I often wrongly use the word ironic, I thought I'd not use it. Naturally, it turns out it would be the correct time to use it.

He could but you don't really need him to. The Raps have plenty of depth at guard with Mo Pete, Alvin Williams, Alston, Hunter and Lenard. Up front they have Davis, JYD, McCoy, Bradley and Montross. The only SF's the Raps have is Carter, Murray and Jeffries. They have plenty of different combos they could run at guard. The could and probably will run to small forwards at once. They will have to run small lineups otherwise they aren't going to have enough talent.
