A token appearance to acknowledge the fan's vote is somewhat of an obligation, though obviously a player needn't play heavy minutes if he's not 100%. A lot of the pride and honour seems to have gone out of All-Star Weekend. I can understand the reservations players may have about competing, but it just doesn't seem to be special for players anymore, at least for some of the perennial All-Stars.
yup......but I think in the modern days everythings turning into popularity contests...but the NBA should consider trying a ROW vs USA game....but I think Stern believes that something like that will decrease unity among international players and homegrown players....which isnt something u need...I know its just one game but I think their could be more passion and fierce competition in a game like that compared to an all-star game.
But yeah Poppovich had already said he was gonna remove Duncan and KG after he finished with them in the fourth quarter.....because McHale had called him n told him abt KG's foot....n Pop also didnt wanna overwork Duncan aswell.....I think Van Gundy did his share too by having VC play few mins due to his history of injuries....n Im sure Thorn would have made a call to him aswell.
But I dunno.....I think the all-star game needs a Ron Artest or two...the guys that take every game seriously(well Ron does)....it might help fire up a better and harder fought game between east n west.
Or maybe they could even try a jumble.....like divisions.....eg u could have Pacific+Atlantic+Southwest vs Midwest+Southwest+Southeast....or something like that....it'll mix up the stars.....so u could see East guys play with West guys......well its a outrageous idea but it might bring some new life n interest.
