no grant hill? :D

Fri Feb 04, 2005 11:52 am

I figured he would retire. I'm trying to keep the list new.
That's the only reason he's not on, he would be on but i figured he's just gonna retire.

Fri Feb 04, 2005 12:31 pm

in that case, spree and cassell should also not be there :) and by the way, is that list ordered? coz i noticed u ranked gasol all down to 49. :)

What? The guy's playing the best ball he's played in the last 4 years. Retire? What reasoning is that? No one was keeping Michael Jordan off of any top 50 lists during his final Bulls/Wizards days.

Fri Feb 04, 2005 12:48 pm

i know i said i wanna keep the list new.

Fri Feb 04, 2005 12:55 pm

Brand at #33? Brand is a top 20 player in the league, he's a 20-10 guy, but in addition to that is a top 5 defensive PF in the league, a guy like Boozer should never even come close to him let alone be ranked higher. Boozer doesn't know what defense is.

Carter is too high, his play in New Jersey get's him in top 20, but Brand, Arenas, Wade, and Marion should be ahead of him.

Peja shouldn't be in till probably 30's, maybe late 20's at best. Yao isn't a top 20 player right now. Brad Miller over Wade, Marion, Brand, Arenas, Artest, even J-Rich, I guess because he's a King, but that's just odd.

Nash should be in the top 20, probably somewhere between 7-15.

Carmelo as a top 20 player is laughable, he shouldn't be ahead of any guy I've mentioned, and his numbers have even gone down from last season, he's in the 30's.

Cassell as dropped off, I don't even know if he's a top 50 player anymore, I'd take Grant Hill over him right now.

Here would be mine:

1) Tim Duncan
2) Kevin Garnett
3) Shaquille O'neal
4) Kobe Bryant
5) Lebron James
6) Dirk Nowitzki
7) Tracy McGrady
8) Allen Iverson
9) Jason Kidd
10) Steve Nash
11) Dwyane Wade
12) Elton Brand
13) Jermaine O'neal
14) Amare Stoudemire
15) Shawn Marion
16) Ray Allen [Ron Artest if he was playing]
17) Paul Pierce
18) Gilbert Arenas
19) Vince Carter
20) Andrei Kirilenko
21) Chris Webber
22) Larry Hughes
23) Steve Francis
24) Stephon Marbury
25) Baron Davis [Injured too much]
26) Ron Artest
27) Manu Ginobili
28) Jason Richardson
29) Richard Jefferson
30) Yao Ming
31) Michael Redd
32) Ben Wallace
33) Pau Gasol
34) Lamar Odom
35) Corey Maggette
36) Rashard Lewis
37) Zach Randolph
38) Carlos Boozer
39) Chauncey Billups
40) Mike Bibby
41) Rip Hamilton
42) Antawn Jamison
43) Carmelo Anthony
44) Grant Hill
45) Peja Stojakovic
46) Brad Miller
47) Kenyon Martin
48) Kirk Hinrich
49) Tony Parker
50) Jamaal Tinsley

EDIT: I skipped #8

that's pretty good but Webber at 22??!! Give the guy a break!

New = current, and currently, Grant Hill is playing in this league and averaging 19 points per game.

Oh, he's been in the league fewer years than Shaquille O'Neal, so by your logic, Shaq should be off that list too.

Fri Feb 04, 2005 1:00 pm

That's pretty good for him, he's playing very good offensively, but he's on and off because of the knee injury, and he's also unable to be too effective defensively because of the knee.

He's basically playing on one leg, and though he's doing a very good job of it, it still hurts...

Fri Feb 04, 2005 1:07 pm

That's exactly what I'm saying. He's been injured and is not 100%. He's just mistaken and I'm sick of everybody critisizing him. Even Kings fans, they're supposed to understand...

Yea, the problem is that this isn't a case where you can say, I'll rank him higher because he's just injured now, he's not really ever going to be 100% again....but hey, a 80% or whatever he is Webber is still a Top 21 player in the league.

Fri Feb 04, 2005 1:16 pm

ya I agree...

Fri Feb 04, 2005 1:51 pm

i dont think webber is a top 10 player anymore.

Fri Feb 04, 2005 2:45 pm

It's been a couple seasons since he's not Top 10 in the League.

Fri Feb 04, 2005 2:52 pm

So I guess because Webber has been so injured lately and he could retire that maybe he shouldn't be on the list either.

Fri Feb 04, 2005 11:31 pm

nash is #24??!! gotta be kiddin me

Sat Feb 05, 2005 1:47 am

He lost me when Shaq wasn't in the top 3 or even 5. :shake:

Nice list Fgrep. (Y)

Sat Feb 05, 2005 3:01 am

and PP34 @9, Webber @10

Sat Feb 05, 2005 3:20 am

I'd put Artest down at like #45 just to piss him off.

Also, in my own list (which I won't do, because after the top 5 I'd be guessing) Tim Duncan would be like 4th... there's something about him I just don't like. It's not the fact that he isn't exciting to watch, I'm just not a fan... especially after seeing him play at the Olympics. Lazy and unmotivated come to mind. I know he was 2nd in scoring for the team or whatever, but lets face it, anyone over 7ft tall at the Olympics is going to average 14ppg.

Sat Feb 05, 2005 4:30 am

i'd go

1. Duncan
2. Garnett
3. Shaq
4. Kobe
5. Lebron
6. Nowitzki
7. AI
8. T-Mac
9. Brand
10. Kidd

Sat Feb 05, 2005 6:13 am

I dunno man...and Brand at 9???

Sat Feb 05, 2005 6:34 am

I'd put LeBron before Kobe. LeBron makes his teammates better. Kobe doesn't.

Not that that's the only criteria.

Check out the FG% of the new aqcuired players and compare them from over the years, then tell me again he doesnt make them better.

Sun Feb 06, 2005 1:57 am

I know this is a big "if", but, would LeBron make the current Lakers team better if Kobe wasn't there?
