In case nobody has mentioned this yet, all of the fans who were involved in this brawl are getting their tickets revoked for life, and being put on a 'list' so that they can never again purchase tickets at The Palace. The man who threw the beer is being prosecuted and will probably get a misdemeanor assault and battery charge. The man who threw the chair (who has just recently been identified) WILL go to jail, as he is going to be facing a felonious assault charge - minimum of 2 years.
How can you say the fans got away with all this? Not only are the idiots being banned from the arena, but these select few also have given the Detroit area a HORRIBLE reputation. The media everywhere is bashing our city, and it's because of a few morons. Had an NBA player attacked fans in any other city, I guarantee the same thing would have happened.
Ron Artest definitely deserved his punishment of the whole season. I don't care what you say to defend him - he crossed the line when he went INTO the crowd to attack the fans. So what, the guy who threw the beer was being a jackass. You're a professional athlete, you CAN NOT attack him. I've been to baseball games and hockey games where the fans have thrown stuff at players and talked shit to them, but never have I seen an athlete cross the line and stoop to their level. You know, if I was getting paid $5 million a year, I would gladly let some jerks throw a beer at me every night. Artest needs to heal his temper, and until he does, he should be out of the NBA (which in my opinion should be forever).
Also, I don't get how people can say this whole thing is Ben Wallace's fault. Artest voluntarily laid on the scorer's table, and it wasn't to calm himself down. He was letting his ego get to him - he acted like a smartass and fired the whole situation up when he did that. Besides, if you're gonna say "If Ben hadn't shoved Artest, this whole thing wouldn't have happened" then you have to go further back to the source - If Artest hadn't fouled Ben hard, Ben wouldn't have shoved him, and it never would have happened.
I'm sick of hearing so much bullshit from people just because of the media. The media is biased and people take their opinions from it.
Sorry if I came off too hard but I'm just quite upset about this whole situation still, and it doesn't help when people don't have all the facts.
