well look, in the nfl, the houston texans were in expansion team the year before last i think, the worst record was about 3-13, the texans did 1-15. at that rate, they would reach 29 wins would be in 29 seasons, last year they did 3 wins, so basically the teams have to produce more before getting to the 30s. and anyway if they did thata good, they're only about 13 games outta the playoffs, so i think the 28 win area is impossible for an expansion team.

15 sounds about right to me. A weakness of expansions usually seems to be defence. Someone always steps it up on offence and averages 18+ (Gerald Wallace?), although on defence they can be troubled. This team has Emeka though which gives it a little better chance IMO. Plus Orlando, Atlanta, and Washingotn are in their division.

that hepls them out, but NJ, DET, IND, MIL, BOS, and others are in their conference, and SAS, MIA, SAC, NOH, LAL, LAC,MEM, MIN , are in the NBA. So it will be real tough to get 25. ANd the 29 win in 16 game season, i know it would be hard, but i meant 29 franchise wins total vs. 29 single season wins for Bobbys.

The NFL is the NFL. This is the NBA we're talking about. Two different processes. For many, many reasons. You can't compare the Texans to the Bobcats. Why? Let's start with the coaching. The Texans have Dom Capers as their head coach and Chris Palmer as their OC. Palmer was coach of the Browns and Capers of the Panthers when they started their exhibition seasons. That is a ton of expansion experience, to add on to Capers' other experience as DC with various teams beforehand. Yes, Bickerstaff is experienced (and retarded) but not nearly as much as Palmer and Capers are (I mean, Palmer + Capers is more experienced, but less stupid in their statements).

Secondly, the NFL is much, much deeper due to the design of the game. There are 7 rounds to the draft, not 2, and there's even a supplemental draft sometime in the summer (forget). The NFL also has 22 players on the field at the same time and most players only play on one side of the ball. In addition, again, due to differences in the games (which doesn't just include on the field, but also off the field, ie, monetary issues, draft, FA's, etc), the Texans received the #1 overall while the Bobcats received the #4 (lenient considering the Raptors and Grizz got the #7 and 8). Also, during the expansion draft, the Texans were able to take older, albeit players with large contract (like Coleman, Boselli, Glenn, Payne, Walker off the top of my head). They still had a very, very young team, but unlike the Bobcats who were "handicapped" by a 29 million cap, the Texans had the luxury to take some of these players. Also, the full salary of players when they are cut by a NFL team is not paid to the player or responsible for the team, only a portion (unlike the NBA).

I could go on and on about the differences between an expansion team in the NFL and the NBA (the NFL is easier on the expansion team as well IMO). But I think I've made the point pretty clear already. A better, although still flawed comparison would be to the Raptors and the Grizz. However, the Bobcats had a much, much more talented pool of players (also younger - guys like Kapono, Wallace, Slay, Fizer, Hunter, Bell, etc) to chose from and were given a higher spot in the draft.

I forgot about that too. If you give a player a bonus in his contract you pay a portion of that as a cap penalty the next year. If somehow you sign a player without a bonus, even if it's for 10 million, you can release without any penalty.

The Bobcats will not win over 20 games this season. I mean they're planning on starting Jason Hart at PG Their swingmen will be Gerald Wallace and Jason Kapono Okafor will be the lone bright spot. They're not going to sign any free agent even though they had what $7 M of cap space after the expansion draft.

They're definately going for the #1 next season. Just look at their current center quality, and the center prospects of the next draft. There are a lot of talented Euro centers going to be available, even if they don't get the #1, a top 5 pick will likely give them a good C for the future to team up with Meka.

I believe his was talking about football. Front loaded contracts don't happen all that often in basketball, while in football, they almost always have a signing bonus for starter quality players.

I'd go for 16 wins for the Bobcats ; and i don't think they'll become the worst team of the league, i guess they will build a roster like Utah had last year, so a good team chemistry could prevent them from disaster
