There's no disputing the NBL isn't on the same level as the NBA, but Andrew Gaze could probably have been a fairly successful player, perhaps a poor man's Chris Mullin had he entered the draft and played his entire career in the NBA.
His brief stint with the Bullets was a joke, and by the time the Spurs picked him up he was too old to be handed a bigger role - very few teams would make a 33 year old international player their leader when they have younger, home-grown talent. He was basically an insurance policy.
