HIGH DETAIL JERSEYS (no blurring anymore)

Postby chr!s on Sat Aug 16, 2008 11:08 pm

While I've tryed to import some 07/08 512x512 jerseys to 06 I've find a way to increase the quality and details of the jerseys.

07 uses a texture without mipmaps to display the jerseys so they are very sharp and detailed in 512x512. 06 uses a texture with 3 mipmaps instead so the jerseys gets very blurry.

I don't know if someone allready noticed this. :?:

I've hexedited the jerseys fsh files so the jerseytexture is used without mipmaps.

That means the game allways uses the 512x512 jersey texture and there are no blurry jerseys ingame or while zooming out in replay anymore.

The textures are made by c0nr4d

but you can import your own.

Of course they are in 512, but 06 uses 3 mipmap textures for the jerseys. Thats why the jerseys get too blurry because 06 switsches very early to the next lower mipmap.
I´ve build the jerseys without mipmaps so allways the 512 texture is used and your allways have jerseys with high details.

That's cool, but not really necessary. Taking away the mipmaps makes the jerseys very aliased from a distance. People who play the game using high antialiasing should like this, though. I hope you rebuilt the FSH files so that the mipmap was removed when saving, otherwise the unused mipmaps are wasting memory.

Yes, all jersey files are rebulilt and the mipmaps are removed completely...no waste of memory. :)

I like the very sharp and detailed way the jerseys look now.

hey listen to me. when i patch this files, my uniforms all to be aliasing. my grapic card is GEFORCE 8600GT, setting is anti x8 anisotropy x8, but this 512 jersey is be makes aliasing. it looks good to cam seeing near, but not good to long distance. my grapic is bad? how to play not aliasing? (sorry to my english)

That's why there should be mipmaps. Anti-aliasing can only do so much, and is more for improving the edges of the 3d models. Mipmaps are especially needed for 1024x1024 resolution jerseys. Maybe turning your anisotropic quality down or off will reduce the aliasing since anisotropy deals more with textures.
