Vista and FSHx possible fix

Postby JaoSming on Tue Sep 18, 2007 4:56 am

I found this here http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/add-t ... vista.html

Download dx8vb.dll (search it on google)

then put it in C:Windows:System32

Then run command prompt (run as administrater) (run => CMD)

then in Command Prompt it should say C:Windows:System32.

Then type C:Windows:System32: regsvr32 dx8vb.dll

then press enter. then fshX should work
Opinions are my own.

Don't put C:Windows:System32", and it was the wrong syntax, the proper syntax would be-

C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32 d8vb.dll

Since you are already in the Windows\System32 directory, you don't need to add it to the command. Just use this-

regsvr32 d8vb.dll

64 bit may be the problem, but your new error sais the file isn't even there. Did you download the dll file like it said in the first post's quote?

A google search revealed that the file is not compatible with the x64 version of Vista, but it is compatible with the x32 version. Sorry, but I think you are out of luck unless you can find an x64 version of dx8vb.dll, but I am only speculating.

I could be wrong. Check this thread out, yplonas.

Apparently this works on vista 64..

Postby jubigala on Mon Jul 14, 2008 4:12 am

Instead of copying dx8vb.dll to C:\Windows\system32, copy them to C:\Windows\syswow64.

In the command window, type in the following:

cd C:\windows\syswow64
Press Enter

regsvr32 dx8vb.dll
Press Enter

Click OK on the window that comes up and you're done.

I suggest searching google for "xp games on vista" or even the filenames like 'dxvb.dll vista'. Look at yplonas' posts. He is running Vista 64 and had to find x64 versions of the files. Maybe you have the x64 file version and need the x32 version. On another note, have you tried just copying the file into FSHx's main directory? I am not sure if that would work but I remember it worked for people who were having problems with the ebo editors.
