Vista and FSHx possible fix

Tue Sep 18, 2007 4:56 am

I found this here http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/add-t ... vista.html

Download dx8vb.dll (search it on google)

then put it in C:Windows:System32

Then run command prompt (run as administrater) (run => CMD)

then in Command Prompt it should say C:Windows:System32.

Then type C:Windows:System32: regsvr32 dx8vb.dll

then press enter. then fshX should work

Pls explain more in details how to do...thx ;)

Don't put C:Windows:System32", and it was the wrong syntax, the proper syntax would be-

C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32 d8vb.dll

Since you are already in the Windows\System32 directory, you don't need to add it to the command. Just use this-

regsvr32 d8vb.dll

now correct ?: http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/3556/errorth3.jpg
But error...

P.S. I have Windows Vista 64 bit, not 32, maybe where problem... ?

Sat Jan 05, 2008 3:57 am

64 bit may be the problem, but your new error sais the file isn't even there. Did you download the dll file like it said in the first post's quote?

Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:58 pm

extract the file to system32 because it says it cannot be found

Sat Jan 05, 2008 8:22 pm

Yes, I download this file, ant add him in system32 folder...

Sat Jan 05, 2008 9:55 pm

hmm...I try type in "run" regsvr32 dx8vb.dll and error: http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/5681/fdfbn4.jpg

A google search revealed that the file is not compatible with the x64 version of Vista, but it is compatible with the x32 version. Sorry, but I think you are out of luck unless you can find an x64 version of dx8vb.dll, but I am only speculating.

I could be wrong. Check this thread out, yplonas.

Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:32 pm

haha...the problem is fixed!!!!! I'm lucky ;D
I download another dx8vb.dll from DC++ and add in C:\Windows\System32 and regsvr32 is succeeded !!! yeah!

Sun Jan 20, 2008 5:34 pm

where can I download dx8vb.dll from DC++? pls.!

Apparently this works on vista 64..

Instead of copying dx8vb.dll to C:\Windows\system32, copy them to C:\Windows\syswow64.

In the command window, type in the following:

cd C:\windows\syswow64
Press Enter

regsvr32 dx8vb.dll
Press Enter

Click OK on the window that comes up and you're done.

Doesn't work and I have 32 bit

I suggest searching google for "xp games on vista" or even the filenames like 'dxvb.dll vista'. Look at yplonas' posts. He is running Vista 64 and had to find x64 versions of the files. Maybe you have the x64 file version and need the x32 version. On another note, have you tried just copying the file into FSHx's main directory? I am not sure if that would work but I remember it worked for people who were having problems with the ebo editors.

i tried these suggestions and have tried the same from other websites and i got an error 0x80070005 which is, when googled, "access denied"

any light on this? :?:
