Cyberface Tutorials - Editing the DBF/Finding the .ebo files

Fri Feb 17, 2006 7:04 am

This tutorial assumes you have the files needed (cyberface and portrait) and will tell you what you need to edit in the .dbf files for the c-face and portrait to show up. It's always a good idea to make a back-up of the .dbf files just in case.

In players.dbf you need to change:

ISCREATED to False
ISGENERATE to False
ISHISTORIC to False
PLYERPKG to the 7 letter code that's used (i.e. smparke)

In appearance.dbf you need to find the APPEARID that's the same as the PLAYERID from players.dbf for that player, then edit the following for that line:

FACEID to -1

Once you've done that, reload the rosters and the portrait and cyberface should be there.

*Note: If you have just a portrait, don't change FACEID and you can keep a created player's face with a custom portrait.

EDIT: New tutorial on where to get the files for a c-face.

The headshape files are located in the sgsm/players/plyrgrb.viv file. Once you find a player's headshape that you like, export that headshape.ebo file from the plyrgrb.viv.

The hair files are also in the sgsm/players/plyrgrb.viv file. Same deal here, find the hair you want and export it.

Same deal with the goggles and headband files, except you'll need to try a bunch of them until you get one that fits on the headshape + hair you chose.

*Note: You only need the ..._b.ebo files, you don't need 'c' or 'd'.

Once you have all the files you want, rename them to the same 7 letter code as your cyberface and portrait. Put them in the sgsm folder, and have fun! :)

Yeah, but I figured if we had just this in one place it'd be easier on some people. You'd be surprised how many people can miss kbryant8's because it isn't exactly what they're looking for.

naah thats a good extra tutorial.
It helps i think(y)

Fri Feb 17, 2006 10:00 am

you forgot about to put FALSE on DELETED at players.dbf and appearance.dbf :D

Fri Feb 17, 2006 11:41 am

I think it's automatically false no matter what.

Stickied. (Y)

If you have a portrait you don't necesarily need a cyberface.

Wed Feb 22, 2006 1:19 pm

Really? How exactly, do you still need to edit the .dbf? I was under the impression that for a portrait to work you had to edit the .dbf, and if you do that but don't have a c-face then the player's head is pink.

Fri Feb 24, 2006 9:05 am

You just don't edit the faceid to -1. You just leave it as it is for created players. (Y)

Huh. I didn't know that, thanks :)

i created my cyberface... i installed it in the game, but it looks BAD!!! i have double eyes, my mouth is too low, my head is too oval,........ terrible.......... what do i do now?.. redo my cf or try to find a headshape that fits?......suggestions?!?! :|

Mon Jun 05, 2006 5:06 am

Well, you should get a headshape that's similar to yours, then try to edit the bhead to line up the eyes, mouth, etc.

I'm lost man. At this file "sgsm/players/plyrgrb.viv" there is no .ebo file...
And I just don't know how to use that program EA Graphics Editor. I opened "sgsm/players/plyrlodb.viv" and find the .ebo files but I can't do anything in that program. The only options available are "new, open, close, extract and import". I wanna use Mike Bibby's headshape. What I have to do man? :?:

Mon Jul 31, 2006 11:17 am

'Extract' the headshape, rename it to whatever you want, put it in the sgsm folder.

k, so i downloaded oleenglish's post draft roster. as you guys know, the rookies need the cyberfaces put up or something. i've read everything that has something to do with cyberfaces and i still don't understand what to do with the .fsh, ebo files. i just need to know if i just move these files to a certain place.

ex: aamiles.fsh goes where?

always in the SGSM folder, like everything graphic.

Maybe it's too little too late, but there's a HUGE error in the tutorial(s), the file that holds the players' CF is NOT plyrgrb.viv but plyrlodB.viv.

Sat Sep 09, 2006 12:07 pm

Say what?

...

Okay, I see what you mean. The cyberface .fsh files are in the plyrlodB.viv, but the files I refer to are not the .fsh files but the .ebo files for the headshapes, hair, headbands and goggles. Most people don't make their own .fsh file (also called a bhead), they get it from somewhere and then are stuck with no headshape, etc., which they can get by following the tutorial.
