NBA Live 2006 Must have...

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

After a team has won a champsionship, i would like to see david stern give a speech before presenting the championship and mvp trophy. Also before the game, one of the things they show can be captains chaking hands with the ref there.

Also after a player falls to the floor, see a teammate or opponenet help him up.

^ I'd consider that a nice touch, but not a 'must have'.

Unfortunately I don't have any specific info, but I'm guessing we'll get more soon.

I wish that they would get the current career stats of each player and include them in the game. So whenever a player scores that number will add up to the career stats real time, so when Shaq edge Barkley for the 15th most points scored in NBA history, the game will be stopped so i can be informed about it, or maybe even just an sms message will do.

I would also like to see the stats be kept for the duration of the player's career. Right now you can only go back 2 years to see your player's stats and that is not enough.

i love the idea of career stats but i wish they had it in 2 catagories. 1 for overall career(counting real life stats) and 1 from the start of the dynasty(basicly to keep track of what everyone did while you played the game). i would absolutly love stuff like this. i am a huge stat junky

I'd also like to be able to see what a traded player averaged before and after he was traded. Also being able to separate the stats into months/weeks etc... so for instance you could see how many points a certain player has averaged over the last week... that kinda thing I'd like.

Definitely... I'd like to see more during the games aswell. I like seeing random stat updates while I'm playing, it adds to the game alot.

Stats are a lost art in NBA Live, I think I was one of the only people who actually used that stat calculator they had.

No arguments here. I preferred the old table/trading card style of career stats and additional sorting methods/statistics would be fantastic.

I really want better net physics. just better ball-in-the hoop animations in general. and yao looked terrible in 05. you couldn't simulate his light fade and soft shot. he always jumped like 3 feet above the rim before shooting.

but really the lack of net physics gives each individual shot or play a lack of individuality.

You know what'd be great?

Well, first, for the producers of the game to stop making it more like NBA Street. That's already been talked about.

Improved realism, less of the retarded "the computer is a goddamned cheating BASTARD!" moments... Things like that.

- I'd love it if blocking shots wasn't absolutely retarded in the game. It'd be nice if they replaced the drunken, lobotomized monkey with Down's Syndrome they have writing this part of the code with a competent, sober human. That'd be great. If I ever see Early Boykins block Shaq again, I will never play a game from the NBA Live franchise ever again. Period. 2K5 is not NEARLY this bad about shot blocking (and, the more I play it, I find it superior in many other respects as well).

- I'd enjoy it if screens and called plays actually worked (as they do in 2K5). In Live, the screener gives a half-hearted almost-screen and it doesn't actually do anything and called plays are worthless except for if you use them to set your players up in one position at the start of the play. Sideline Triangle is great for setting up a post-up but ultimately balls-useless after that, no matter how patient I am.

- The graphics are fine, they should focus on game play. Things like when the computer SHOVES you out of bounds blatantly, don't give the ball to the computer, call a damned foul. Or making boxing out WORTH something. The other day, I boxed out Mark Blount with Shaq and Blount pushed Shaq under the net and out of bounds and then got the rebound. I nearly had an aneurysm, I HATE things like that which are so blatantly unrealistic.

Or my personal favourite, when you're on the perimiter, call for a screen and the guy comes and stands behind you

I'd like to see a damn screen button so you can set a screen yourself when you're playing co-op/player locked. This is something very simple, and it will make things much better. Heck not much code will go into this since it's already there. I play co-op or 2 on 2 or 4 vs comp more than any other mode nowadays so this is really important for me. Just a screen button...nothing much. (And timing based rebounds, but that's not too easy to implement I guess..)

Guys, forget graphical adjustments for now, concentrate on gameplay improvements, not eye-candy that has no relevance to the basketball game..

that's whats i think too...it's not that i think graphics are unimportant...but i'd rather those guys concentrate on more realistic gameplay.

like:

~ tie-ups
~ jump balls for possession
~ better play execution

to name a few. :D
yes, i'm a girl who loves nba live! :D

And those damned player forcefields are RETARDED and need to go away. They need to totally re-engineer the contact system. Shaq does NOT get pushed around. Dan Dickau CANNOT push a PF under the rim....

........ AGREED

The offensive AI needs a SERIOUS overhaul for both cpu and user controlled teams. I absolutely hate it when there is a blocked shot or missed rebound and my players tiptoe around the ball like its some sort of alien spacecraft or sumthin.... Also in Dynasty/Season mode, the user shold be able to designate the 1st, 2nd and mayber 3rd option on offense. Primacy shouldnt be a set in stone attribute of a player, its something that the coach/GM decides. There is no reason for Brent Barry to average 20 pts a game when he is on a team with T-Mac and Yao.....

The ONE thing that 06 must have is better shot-blocking and stealing animations. Not all blocked shot die limp at the feet of the shooter. Most are tipped and make their way towards the rim. NO NBA PLAYER is going to attack the basket as if to dunk and then decide to put up a weak layup so that *INSERT WEAK BACKUP CENTER HERE* can block it from 10 feet behind..... As far as stealing goes, ball hawks like Larry Hughes / LeBron / A.I. dont stretch there arms like Mr. Fantastic, they jump into the passing lane and accelerate downcourt for an uncontested dunk/layup

NBA NK5 lets you set style of offense, primary and secondary option (by position, so your first option is your C or whatever)

Another thing, when a player is fouled in the act of shooting, it doesn't always short-arm the shot 12 feet from the rim, most of those shots hit the rim. They miss, but it's just irritating that the after-foul shots rarely get to the rim at all.

These following are not musts but rather late suggestions:

1. More speech and visual recognition of in game and dynasty stats. For example:

After that dunk, Shaq now has a double double with 14 boards and 11 points...
Vince Carter now has 1000 points this season...
That's Michael Redd's 50th 3 pointer this season...
Arenas now has a triple double with 35 points 12 steals and just now his 11th
board...

2. Sorry to mention a rival game but ESPN's halftime show is beast. (Players of the half, their stats, and 3-5 replays of stuff they did in the half. How bout a halftime show but with replays from every player on the team, not just the Players of the Half)

3. Also, at buzzer beating shots, don't have the score overlay before the ref tells whether it counts or not - it ruins the moment so much. (This may have been brought up before)

4. In the dunk contest, how about the ability to use objects such as chairs, or have a teammate help out (Personally I was really happy with 05's dunk contest and can't wait for how they're gonna do 06's)

5. 2 Ball mode or something similar like last year's all-star weekend (does anyone know what I'm talkin bout?) I can imagine that mode being tight as shi*. (And maybe the point guard challenge too, but I have no idea how they'd get that to work)

Thanks for reading my suggestions. What do you guys think?

*I'm reppin' Dumfries, VA

GO WIZARDS!!!!! (What is wrong with you Larry?!?)... Oh, you're playin' alongside Lebron, - I ain't mad atcha!! (Too bad the Wizards are gonna win the championship without you THIS YEAR!)

*If you spoke with disagreement about my last Wizards comment you are a bonified HATER.

i agree with you 100%. as far as i am concerned there could be no ref,no coaches, no players on the bench and i would still enjoy it just as much. the only thing i would not want removed is the crowd. actually i could probably deal with the crowd being removed if they just kept the audio of the crowd in the game.
