Lebron made a great showing in his first All-Star Game

The East led 14-5 after Lebron James made a 3 with 9:43 left to give him 5 points. Garnett made a jumper over James to cut the Western All-Stars deficit to three points with 5:43 remaining in the quarter. Carmelo Anthony gave the Western All-Stars their first lead of the game nailing a long jumper over Lebron to put the West up 30-28 wtih 2:42 left in the quarter. The first quarter ended with the West leading 40-34. Nash had four assists in the quarter making the West run the Suns style of pace. Garnett and Kobe had six points apiece for the West. Iverson led the East with 8 points.

Shaq already recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. On the West, Garnett led the team with 12 points as Kobe fell right behind him with 11 points on 3/4 shooting from downtown. The West was shooting 8/11 from 3-point range in the first half.
McGrady throwing down the one-hand jam in the 3rd quarter
Tracy McGrady went on a scoring tear within' the first two minutes of the 3rd quarter, scoring 7 points and giving him 14 points for the game. Pierce and Lebron started to do everything for the East in the 3rd quarter combining for 12 points of the team's 18 points with just over 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. The West had six players in double figures, while the East had 4 players and three of them scoring in the 20's.

The 4th quarter started off with alot of scoring as both teams combined for 24 points with 2:40 seconds into the quarter. Kobe Bryant made a baseline jumper with 6:01 remaining in the game to give the West a 128-127 lead. Both teams traded baskets for 3:53 seconds and Marbury finally missed a jumper for the East and the West had a chance to extend their lead by more than one, but Nash missed a long three point bomb. Shaq made a power post move on Brad Miller to score an easy two points to put the East up 142-141 with 1:17 remaining. Garnett posted Jamison up in the post for a hook shot that hit all nylon with 1:02 left in the game to give the West a 143-142 advantage. The West called a timeout to advance the ball to midcourt. Nash worked the left side as Garnett inbounded the ball to him, Garnett went down low to work the same play that they had made a few other times late in the game. Garnett won his 2nd All-Star Game MVP trophy tonight
DENVER, Feb. 20 (Ticker) -- Kevin Garnett is known to getting his teammates involved first, but tonight, his teammates were looking for him for the big shots. Garnett enjoyed a solid all-around game and was named Most Valuable Player in the All-Star Game for the second time in his career as the Western Conference posted a 149-147 thriller over the Eastern Conference. In an All-Star Game that featured six players 25 and five high-schoolers, the main man stepped up for his team late in the game as he was given the ball with under 10 seconds remaining and went right at the young phenom, Lebron James to score two points over him with a hook shot with only 0.7 seconds left in the game.
"The game is easy for me like this, just having four other guys, I didn't get double-teamed all night," said Garnett, who is use to receiving doubles and even triples in the post every game. "I didn't get the attention that I usually get and it makes it that much easier for me." Garnett also was crowned All-Star MVP in 2003, when the West won in a classic between himself and MJ. He scored 37 points to go along with 9 rebounds and five steals in 41 minutes. In the fourth quarter of this one, Garnett was the main guy on the floor as the West and East were going back-to-back, changing leads for 3:53 seconds and Garnett took control with under a minute left as he scored six of his 22 points during that span.
Houston Rockets guard/forward Tracy McGrady also scored 19 points for the West in his fourth consecutive All-Star Game appearance. It was the first All-Star performance for LeBron James, the 20-year-old phenom of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He scored 26 points to go along with nine rebounds and six assists in 31 minutes. Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant made five 3-pointers in the game and made a key jumper with 6:01 remaining in the game to put the West ahead 128-127. Bryant scored 17 points and handed out five assists in 30 minutes as the West placed eight players in double figures. Steve Nash, point guard of the Phoenix Suns, turned the tables every minute he was in the game. He dished out 10 assists, while scoring 11 points and was the main reason why Garnett was getting the ball so easy in the post. “I was just feeding the ball like I would do any other day,” Nash said. “It’s real easy when you have a bunch of all-stars.”
O'Neal, who won a pair of All-Star MVPs in previous years, scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. He also shot 4-5 from the free throw line which was probably his best stat-line. “You know I can hit them at will,” Shaq said while smirking. Iverson was part of a spectacular play with three minutes left in the 2nd quarter when he fed James for an alley-oop dunk that brought the crowd to its feet. "It was just on a break and my man took his eyes off LeBron and came to pick up the ball and once I saw him make a move towards me, I just threw the ball in the air," Iverson said. "With LeBron you don't have to throw a perfect pass. He will make it look perfect."
Earlier in that quarter, Nash, gave an alley-oop to Kobe who caught it and reversed it that was no doubt the best play of the game. A three-pointer by Kobe Bryant with 57 seconds left in the second quarter gave the West its biggest lead, 45-36. But the East used their biggest guy on the team, Shaq, to answer the West run by scoring 12 of the teams’ next 18 points in the quarter. Paul Pierce led all scorers in the game with 35 points, having his best All-Star Game of his career. He made a big three-pointer with 10.9 seconds left to tie the game up at 147-147 until Garnett ruined the moment.

That's it from All-Star Weekend here in Denver. So, class, what did we learn?
On Friday, we noted that the league is in good hands. On Saturday, we found out that the point guard associated with Phoenix is really, really good and Ginobili can do just about anything. Last, but not least, on Sunday, we got a full picture of one of the best forwards to ever play the game. Now, it's on to the second half of the season. Nothing's settled yet. Not with Phoenix a mere game ahead of the Spurs for the best record in the league, and not with the Grizzlies and Rockets playing as well as any teams have had all year long. Sure, Miami's on a roll with a 6-game winning streak, but nothing's settled there either. Not with the Celtics and Pacers picking up steam in the East. So, it should be a great second half. And with scoring up across the league, it should be exciting as well.
Finally, some of the entries in this blog would not be possible without the help of many people, including Paul and Marc Hirschheimer (for the photo shoots), Kevin Dobstaff (for the Skills Challenge run through), Randy Kim (lead NBA.com editor) and the rest of the NBA.com crew -- Mike Allen, Adam Bloom, Jeff Dengate, Jen Nelson and Eric Weinstein -- who gathered quotes, sighted celebrities and made the whole weekend an incredible experience. We want to thank you for reading NBA.com's All-Star Blog this weekend. We hope you had as much fun reading as we did writing.
