For some strange reason some of the players that were suppose to be in the all-star game are not there. Such as Dwyane Wade and Vince Carter, but they were taking out and Iverson and Jamison got inserted. The same thing happened for the dunk contest and 3-point shootout because they were some players that were just put in there. So if you see someone missing like Wade and Carter, it's something that the computer did.

DENVER, Feb. 20 (Ticker) -- Lights, Cameras, Action in Denver, Colorado as the 54th NBA All-Star Game will be held tonight wtih some of the best athletes in the world. There are alot of first-timers that will be in the All-Star Game tonight. Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets, Amare Stoudemire of the Suns, Lebron james of the Cavaliers, Emeka Okafor of the Bobcats, Richard Jefferson from the Nets, Richard Hamilton from the Pistons and Antawn Jamison of the Washington Wizards.

All seven of thse newcomers have had big impacts this season in the league for their teams. The biggest surprise is Lebron James, who is slowly becoming one of the best players in the league as he is very close to averaging a triple double. James has already won two Eastern Conference Player of the Month awards this season.

Some players that aren't in the same uniforms any more for the All-Star Game is Tracy McGrady and Shaquille O'neal. McGrady was traded from the Orlando Magic to the Houston Rockets last off-season. Shaq has the Miami Heat sitting on top of the Southeast Division with a 33-21 record. He is leading the team in scoring, rebounding and dishing 4 apg. O'neal adds more size to the small East squad, while McGrady adds more athleticism to the West.

The most dramatic story from any NBA player this season has come from Grant Hill who was on the verge of retiring due to many ankle surgeries earlier in his career after being traded to the Orlando Magic in 2000. Hill has earned a starting spot in the East lineup this season as he averages 17.6ppg, 8.1rpg and 5.5apg on the Magic this season.

The CPU's made a few odd selections and snubs there, but for the most part those are fairly decent All-Star selections. Sounds like it will be a good game...love the promotional poster. (Y)

Lebron made a great showing in his first All-Star Game

The first basket of the 2005 All-Star Game came from no other than Grant Hill who got the goaltend from Tim Duncan off a layup. The West didn't score until 11:04 left in the first quarter as Tracy McGrady nailed a 3-pointer from the wing assisted by Kobe Bryant. The East led 14-5 after Lebron James made a 3 with 9:43 left to give him 5 points. Garnett made a jumper over James to cut the Western All-Stars deficit to three points with 5:43 remaining in the quarter. With 5:28 left in the quarter, the East subbed Ilgauskas and Antawn Jamison into the game, and the West subbed Stoudemire and Brad Miller into the game, as both teams excahnged two-thirds of their frontcourt. The West extended their run to 7-0 after Stoudemire made a hookshot over Jamison in the paint. Carmelo Anthony gave the Western All-Stars their first lead of the game nailing a long jumper over Lebron to put the West up 30-28 wtih 2:42 left in the quarter. The first quarter ended with the West leading 40-34. Nash had four assists in the quarter making the West run the Suns style of pace. Garnett and Kobe had six points apiece for the West. Iverson led the East with 8 points.

Old friends meeting up once again in different jerseys

The West took their largest lead of the game after Kobe put a sweet crossover on Pierce and pulled up for the 3 dagger to give his team a 45-36 cushion with just under a minute into the quarter. The East moved within' 1-point after Shaq connected on a 3-point play. He scored 12 of the teams 18 points with 7:27 left before halftime. The East re-took the lead after Pierce made a 3 over McGrady to give the East a 55-53 lead with 7:10 left in the first half. Pierce scored off a fastbreak layup that extended the East lead to 75-68 with 19 seconds left in the first half, outscoring the West 41-28. The East kept that lead heading into halftime and Iverson was handlign all the business for the East with 18 points in the first half to lead all scorers. Shaq already recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. On the West, Garnett led the team with 12 points as Kobe fell right behind him with 11 points on 3/4 shooting from downtown. The West was shooting 8/11 from 3-point range in the first half.

Tracy McGrady went on a scoring tear within' the first two minutes of the 3rd quarter, scoring 7 points and giving him 14 points for the game. Pierce and Lebron started to do everything for the East in the 3rd quarter combining for 12 points of the team's 18 points with just over 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. The East hit over the century mark at 101 after Pierce made an off-balance shot that agve him 25 points with 3:04 remaining in the quarter. Steve Nash sparked a small run for the West as he made a 3 and dished out 2 assists in three possessions closing the 3rd quarter only trailing 107-105. The West outscored the East by 5 points in the 3rd quarter and McGrady led the West with 16 points. The West had six players in double figures, while the East had 4 players and three of them scoring in the 20's.

Pierce was a headache to deal with in the entire game

Yao Ming tied the game up at 107-107 within' 11 seconds of play into the last quarter. The 4th quarter started off with alot of scoring as both teams combined for 24 points with 2:40 seconds into the quarter. Kobe Bryant made a baseline jumper with 6:01 remaining in the game to give the West a 128-127 lead. Both teams traded baskets for 3:53 seconds and Marbury finally missed a jumper for the East and the West had a chance to extend their lead by more than one, but Nash missed a long three point bomb. Shaq made a power post move on Brad Miller to score an easy two points to put the East up 142-141 with 1:17 remaining. Garnett posted Jamison up in the post for a hook shot that hit all nylon with 1:02 left in the game to give the West a 143-142 advantage. Iverson made a jumper over Garnett and Nash at the top of the key with 57 seconds left to give the East a one-point lead. The West went back to KG in the post against Lebron. He worked his way inside and shot a fadeaway over James with 44.4 seconds to give the West the lead once again. Lebron ran some clock against Garnett, then launched a three that hit the back of the rim and Duncan grabbed the rebound with 28.9 seconds left. Pierce fouled Kobe with 24.8 seconds left, but the East still had a foul to give. The West subbed in four of their best free throw shooters and Ray Allen inbounded the ball into Nash to shoot two free throws. Nash sanked both free throws and the East had no timeouts left, so they had to advance the ball upcourt with 23.9 secs left. The East worked the ball around and found Pierce at the top of the key who stepped back behind the arc as Kobe hacked him on the play, but still got the abll off and made the three with 10.6 seconds left and no foul was called. The West called a timeout to advance the ball to midcourt. Nash worked the left side as Garnett inbounded the ball to him, Garnett went down low to work the same play that they had made a few other times late in the game. He made a little crossover on James and went up for a hookshot that went in with 0.7 seconds left that gave him 22 points for the game. The East couldn't get a shot off in time as the West won 149-147. Garnett won MVP honors with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Kevin Garnett Finished All-Star Weekend In Dramatic Style

Garnett won his 2nd All-Star Game MVP trophy tonight

DENVER, Feb. 20 (Ticker) -- Kevin Garnett is known to getting his teammates involved first, but tonight, his teammates were looking for him for the big shots. Garnett enjoyed a solid all-around game and was named Most Valuable Player in the All-Star Game for the second time in his career as the Western Conference posted a 149-147 thriller over the Eastern Conference. In an All-Star Game that featured six players 25 and five high-schoolers, the main man stepped up for his team late in the game as he was given the ball with under 10 seconds remaining and went right at the young phenom, Lebron James to score two points over him with a hook shot with only 0.7 seconds left in the game.

"The game is easy for me like this, just having four other guys, I didn't get double-teamed all night," said Garnett, who is use to receiving doubles and even triples in the post every game. "I didn't get the attention that I usually get and it makes it that much easier for me." Garnett also was crowned All-Star MVP in 2003, when the West won in a classic between himself and MJ. He scored 37 points to go along with 9 rebounds and five steals in 41 minutes. In the fourth quarter of this one, Garnett was the main guy on the floor as the West and East were going back-to-back, changing leads for 3:53 seconds and Garnett took control with under a minute left as he scored six of his 22 points during that span.

Houston Rockets guard/forward Tracy McGrady also scored 19 points for the West in his fourth consecutive All-Star Game appearance. It was the first All-Star performance for LeBron James, the 20-year-old phenom of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He scored 26 points to go along with nine rebounds and six assists in 31 minutes. Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant made five 3-pointers in the game and made a key jumper with 6:01 remaining in the game to put the West ahead 128-127. Bryant scored 17 points and handed out five assists in 30 minutes as the West placed eight players in double figures. Steve Nash, point guard of the Phoenix Suns, turned the tables every minute he was in the game. He dished out 10 assists, while scoring 11 points and was the main reason why Garnett was getting the ball so easy in the post. “I was just feeding the ball like I would do any other day,” Nash said. “It’s real easy when you have a bunch of all-stars.”

O'Neal, who won a pair of All-Star MVPs in previous years, scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. He also shot 4-5 from the free throw line which was probably his best stat-line. “You know I can hit them at will,” Shaq said while smirking. Iverson was part of a spectacular play with three minutes left in the 2nd quarter when he fed James for an alley-oop dunk that brought the crowd to its feet. "It was just on a break and my man took his eyes off LeBron and came to pick up the ball and once I saw him make a move towards me, I just threw the ball in the air," Iverson said. "With LeBron you don't have to throw a perfect pass. He will make it look perfect."

Earlier in that quarter, Nash, gave an alley-oop to Kobe who caught it and reversed it that was no doubt the best play of the game. A three-pointer by Kobe Bryant with 57 seconds left in the second quarter gave the West its biggest lead, 45-36. But the East used their biggest guy on the team, Shaq, to answer the West run by scoring 12 of the teams’ next 18 points in the quarter. Paul Pierce led all scorers in the game with 35 points, having his best All-Star Game of his career. He made a big three-pointer with 10.9 seconds left to tie the game up at 147-147 until Garnett ruined the moment.

All-Star Blog

Unofficial All-Star Game awards.

Making the Most of His Time Award, West: Carmelo Anthony, Denver
Melo’ tallied 9 points and 3 rebounds in just 10 minutes of play. That's efficient.

Making the Most of His Time Award, East: Rip Hamilton, Detroit
Hamilton only played six minutes, but was able to score 7 points in his limited time.

The Nice-to-Have-You-Back Award: Grant Hill, Orlando
Grant, although you only played 18 minutes and scored only eight points, it was nice to have you back in the All-Star Game.

Mr. Accurate Award: Steve Nash, Phoenix
Nash dished out 10 dimes in the game and three of them were to MVP Garnett.

The Iron Man Award: Pierce
At 33 minutes, Pierce got the most burn. LeBron James was very close with 31 minutes.

The Rookie of the Game Award: LeBron James, Cleveland
With 26 points, nine boards and six dimes, LBJ's well-rounded game put him into contention for the Game's MVP award. As it was, his debut was the best of the six first-time All-Stars.

Play of the Night: Kevin Garnett, Minnesota
Yeah, we all know that it’s the game-winner with 0.7 seconds left. He made his crossover move on Bron’ and went up for the hookshot that hit all nylon.

Alley-Oop of the Night: Nash-to-Kobe
Sorry, A.I. and LeBron, the oop from Nash to Kobe, the style that Kobe put into the dunk gave them the award.

Seems Like Old Times Award : Shaq and Kobe
Of Shaq’s three blocks, two of them came on Kobe.

That's it from All-Star Weekend here in Denver. So, class, what did we learn?

On Friday, we noted that the league is in good hands. On Saturday, we found out that the point guard associated with Phoenix is really, really good and Ginobili can do just about anything. Last, but not least, on Sunday, we got a full picture of one of the best forwards to ever play the game. Now, it's on to the second half of the season. Nothing's settled yet. Not with Phoenix a mere game ahead of the Spurs for the best record in the league, and not with the Grizzlies and Rockets playing as well as any teams have had all year long. Sure, Miami's on a roll with a 6-game winning streak, but nothing's settled there either. Not with the Celtics and Pacers picking up steam in the East. So, it should be a great second half. And with scoring up across the league, it should be exciting as well.

Finally, some of the entries in this blog would not be possible without the help of many people, including Paul and Marc Hirschheimer (for the photo shoots), Kevin Dobstaff (for the Skills Challenge run through), Randy Kim (lead NBA.com editor) and the rest of the NBA.com crew -- Mike Allen, Adam Bloom, Jeff Dengate, Jen Nelson and Eric Weinstein -- who gathered quotes, sighted celebrities and made the whole weekend an incredible experience. We want to thank you for reading NBA.com's All-Star Blog this weekend. We hope you had as much fun reading as we did writing.

CLIPPERS VS. SUNS
America West Arena, Phoenix, 7:00 p.m., PST

TV, radio: TNT; KTAR 620
Records: Clippers, 19-34; Suns, 42-12.
INJURY REPORT None

KEY MATCHUP: JOE JOHNSON VS. COREY MAGGETTE
Johnson has been playing some o the best basketball on the Suns this season. He is averaging 17, 4 and 4 for Phoenix. At 42% from downtown, he also shoots the best percentage from behind the arc on the team. Maggette considered himself an all-star snub this season, averaging 20.2ppgm 4.7rpg and 4apg fo the Clippers. Maggette is a great slashing guard who gets to the line alot. The key stat for him tonight is to see how many times he gets himself to the free throw line.

INSIDE THE CLIPPERS
The Clippers aren't looking to make the playoffs as they stand in 12th place in the West and are 10.5 games out of playoff contention. They haven't had any luck at all with the Suns this season as they lost by an average margin of 46 points in the two games they have played.

INSIDE THE SUNS
Nash and Stoudemire had busy weekends and represented the Suns very well during All-Star Weekend. Nash won the Playstation Skills Challenge competition and the Footlocker Three Point Shootout, while Stoudemire lost by a small margin to Manu Ginobili in the Slam Dunk Contest and finished in 2nd place. In the All-Star Game, Nash scored 11 points and dished out 10 assists to help lead the West past the East in a 149-147 thriller. Stoudemire added 12 points for the West.

Johnson scored 32 points for the Suns first game back from All-Star Break

PHOENIX, Feb. 23 (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Suns continued to give the Los Angeles Clippers nightmares after the All-Star break. With Johnson having one of his best games of the season, he filled up with a 32 points as the Suns posted a 112-85 victory over the reeling Los Angeles Clippers. Phoenix, which averages a NBA-best 108.6 points, did not look the same as they did when they played the Mavs in their last game defensive wise, allowing the Mavs to rack up 106 points. The Suns did not miss a beat in this one because of Johnson, who made 12-of-19 shots, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.

"It was just one of those games were your in the zone," Johnson said. "I worked out some during the break, which most people wouldn‘t do. I just played like I know how to play. I can score when I have the ball and I‘ve proving that several times this season." Johnson was in foul trouble for most of the game, but still played 43 minutes for the Suns. All-Star Steve Nash, continued his awesome play scoring 22 points and dishing out 11 assists in the Suns win. "I am really happy for the guys psychologically that we continued to play well after having such a long time off," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said.

Leading 54-40 at the break, Phoenix held the Clippers to just eight points in the 2nd quarter. "Everybody gave a lot of energy tonight," said All-Star Suns big man Amare Stoudemire, who scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in 43 minutes. "We knocked down shots and it was like everyone had fresh legs for the entire game." Nash was able to take advantage of Los Angeles' young guards, with Jaric getting the majority of the minutes and Livingston coming off the bench and playing nine minutes. "Nash is an MVP candidate in my book," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "He is very quick and passes the ball so well. We didn't have an answer for the position."

Shawn Marion scored 14 points and former Clipper Quentin Richardson added 7 and nine rebounds for the Suns (43-12), who shot 52 percent (42-of-81) from the field and ensured a winning record after posting just 29 victories last season. "It was definitely great to win again after having that one-game losing streak on our record for awhile, but at the same time you have to acknowledge we were playing the Clippers," Richardson said. "They are not on the same level as the teams we played before." Bobby Simmons scored 26 points and Maggette contributed 18 and 6 rebounds as the Clippers closed a disastrous road trip. Los Angeles has lost six straight games and finished their road trip with a 2-7 record.

Thanks everybody for the comments. Yea Riot, KG won MVP, but not because of you. :P

kobelive2005, thanks for the compliments. i really appreciate those type of comments.

My dynasty might be delayed for about 4 days due to micchy helping me with the trade deadline deals. Unless I can get someone else to help me, it will be delayed for about 4 days so if anyone can make the trades in my dynasty a little quicker, I would really appreciate it because I don't want to delay my dynasty that long especially since I'm on spring break and I can get a bunch more games done.

i played as the west. i was thinking about switching from team to team during quarters, but i decided to just stick with the west. the 2nd half of the season will be real exciting.
