If I were taller (6'9 or above), I'd probably rate athleticism over defence, since you can generally overachieve in rebounds and blocks if you are tall.

For which, live play or simulated games?
For live play, it's almost all dependent upon your positioning and jump timing, like I stated in my previous post. I feel the exception occurs during contested rebounds because I've had several that I thought were clearly mine (and appeared so on replay) that were somehow (through the magic that is 2K) snatched away by an opponent who actually has good rebound ratings and the related badges.
For simulated play, Rebounding and box-out attributes are certainly a factor, but so are Athleticism (Vertical, specifically) and player height. I don't know if Strength is a factor, though, because I can recall seeing Roy Hibbert get boxed out by Ricky Rubio in live play... LOL
