Take it, leave it, used this for a dumb monday article.

JaoSming wrote:I just checked the PS3 online menu, 44,320. You can say its because PC has been fucked year after year, you can say the PS3 number is inflated because of PS+, but this number has always been like this. Here is a post from 2K10, the first year of 2K PC with online enabled, and it mentioned ~500 people online viewtopic.php?f=122&t=69293#p1113491 I can't remember seeing that number go over 1,000, but I'd be happy to be wrong.
Again it sucks, again it may not be ethically right, but people are not playing on PC and of those people they are not playing online. The best we can says is "they could though!" But if you take the all time highest amount of people playing the digital PC version of 2K and compare it to Sunday morning PS3, and get 5% of that number.... if 2K can cut costs by killing PC server load by removing online features, it is understandable.

What really rubs me the wrong way though is when those missing online features directly screw up bits and pieces of the offline experience. There's no way to properly unlock the locked players in Blacktop, the SP payouts in My Career are absolutely pathetic, etc.
