Whenever I miss a shot (despite being wide open and geting the release 100%)

Turn on the shot feedback for release timing and the grade thing. You'll be surprised what is considered an "A" shot and what isn't.
and remember there are sliders you can tweak that limits the contact on fast breaks (which evidently doesnt affect the half court game according to OS) just hit up that link I posted in this thread earlier.

use the shot stick + LT (clutch) to do those signature "hop" moves, but let go of it before the animation finishes, then you can shoot with the button but still get the hop animation except this year you can keep your dribble alive most of the time.
JaoSming wrote:maybe you should play a few games on default sliders and pro difficulty....

good luck with breaking through
Pdub wrote:debiler, I came up with a workaround for the delayed passing. I believe it makes the game a bit more fun, too. It only works in association mode, though. Turn the game speed up to 65, then lower the player speed to 45 or 40. This is done st the controller select screen by pressing the post up/block button. Unfortunately, 2k has never put this feature in the gameplay options.
It speeds up all the animations, while slowing the movement speed back to normal. Much more responsive game, but smaller shot windows for perfect releases.

To echo my previous post, all of Czar's strategy session videos are a must watch.
