Nice job winning the D-League championship; I'll see if I can help the Vipers repeat (they won last year IRL) in my association. I like Marcus Cousin, I watched him play a pre-season game against the Rockets back in October and I like his play on the boards. He'll be an excellent addition to your roster next year.

SAN ANTONIO, May 13 -- After blowing a chance for a sweep a couple of days ago in Dallas, the San Antonio Spurs made it clear from the start of this game that they wanted to advance to the next round. But the Mavericks had other plans: go back up Interstate 35 for a sixth game. About two hours later, confetti fell to the floor: the Spurs are back in the Western Conference Finals after defeating Dallas, 93-87, and winning the series 4-1. A 10-2 run in the fourth frame slowed down the galloping pace that the Mavericks had in the first three quarters and gave the Spurs the victory; it was a back and forth game the entire night, as San Antonio won in the paint just 44-38 and their bench defeated the Mavericks's, only 35-29. “That's the way close-out games should be. They're going to let you earn it, and we earned it,” said Tony Parker, who had 15 points and five assists to lead his team. Corey Maggette scored 14 points and two steals; he had 9 points in the first quarter staying perfect from the field, but he was perfectly defended after that for only 5 points in the other 36 minutes.

The Spurs held Dallas to just 18 points in the fourth and unraveled the Mavericks, who had knocked out the Utah Jazz in the opening round but were badly outmatched in much of this series. Still, Dallas was in it until San Antonio started making their free throws. “We were there the last four or five minutes of the game. We had an opportunity,” said Jason Kidd. “We had a shot. And that's where they showed the team they are. They were just fantastic in this series.” Kidd had an outstanding performance with 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Dallas, but seven turnovers that proved costly. Dirk Nowitzki added 21 points and 10 boards; rookie Dominique Jones scored 11. “They were the better team this series. You know we've got to give them credit,” said Caron Butler, who struggled for nine points. “They beat us up.” Off the bench, Steve Novak and Rodrigue Beaubois had five points apiece. “It's disappointing to end the season like this,” added Beaubois. “But maybe it's better than ending on a one-point loss. Gives us a reason to come back stronger next year.”

Drew Gooden earned Player of the Game honors with 12 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a rejection off the bench for the Spurs. DeJuan Blair and Manu Ginobili had 12 points each -- Ginobili had one of the toughest series of his career, shooting below 30% from the field in all five games. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich will have almost a week to harp on the Argentinian's struggles before the next series begins, playing either the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Los Angeles Lakers in the West Finals. “We made over 80 percent of our free throws. That saved us big time,” Popovich said. Tiago Splitter battled foul trouble and scored just four points and five rebounds; Blair and Gooden picked up the slack in the frontcourt for him. Gary Neal added nine points in only 13 minutes to help San Antonio. “I guess a West Finals featuring the Lakers is what everybody wants,” said Tim Duncan, closing in to his return from a separated shoulder. “I don't know if we want it. We had our issues against both the Lakers and Thunder. Still, they are on our way to become champions. We are gonna have to take them down.”

♦ Game 1 --- DAL @ SAS [0-1] --- Splitter, Blair spark Spurs to Game 1 win; big blow for Mavs as Terry breaks his wrist: DeJuan Blair provided a spark that eventually lit a fire under his San Antonio Spurs teammates. Blair scored 17 points, to go with 10 rebounds, and was part of a second-half surge as the Spurs raced to a 110-100 Game 1 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, in the Western Conference Semifinals. Tiago Splitter added 18 points and 11 boards, and off the bench, Drew Gooden and James Anderson contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Spurs, who looked as crisp as they have this postseason despite the absence of injured star Tim Duncan. “DeJuan made a couple shots in the first half and then got his energy level up,” said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. “He was a big part of our second half run.” Blair scored 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the second half, helping San Antonio to a 85-72 lead entering the fourth quarter. Manu had 20 points, 12 of them coming from the charity stripe, to help the San Antonio Spurs hold off the Dallas Mavericks, 113-97 for a 2-0 lead in the West Semis; the Spurs led the entire contest, coming out strong from the opening tip, 12-2 to start the game, and nearly running Dallas out of the building in the first quarter. The Mavericks went almost five minutes without a field goal, hitting only four free throws. Tiago Splitter had 18 points, 16 boards and two blocks for the Spurs, which built a 22-point lead in the mid of the second period, then withstood a late surge to get the W. The game matched two of the best worldwide players in the game in the Argentinian and the German. Neither disappointed. But now they are choking -- their postseason run appears all but over. They will need to make history. Butler was just long on a 3-point attempt at the buzzer that would send the game to overtime, allowing the San Antonio Spurs to escape with a 101-98 victory and a 3-0 lead in their Western Conference Semifinals series. The Spurs trailed by as many as 10 points in the first moments of the second quarter, but took the lead for good, 49-47 at halftime and never looked back again. San Antonio gave Dallas numerous chances down the stretch to overcome that deficit, but the Mavericks couldn't take advantage of them. With the score tied at 95, DeJuan Blair airballed a free throw before sinking his second attempt to open a 96-95 edge. Caron Butler collected 28 points and five rebounds and Jason Kidd added 17 points as the Dallas Mavericks went on a big spurt in the fourth quarter to pull away from the San Antonio Spurs and avoid being swept in their Western Conference Semifinals series, with a 94-86 decision. Dallas was leading 68-66 entering the last frame; San Antonio had a 6-0 run to start the fourth, but the Mavericks countered with an outstanding 17-2 run over the next five minutes for a 85-74 lead and never look back again. The Mavericks again missed injured guard Jason Terry -- but they barely got any production from their backcourt apart from Kidd. DeShawn Stevenson was scoreless on 0-of-4 shooting, and rookie Dominique Jones made just 2-of-7 attempts for 5 points as a reserve. “What went right? They have a nice roster man. Despite the 4-1 score, they gave me a lot of problems.

Missed the past 20 pages, what did I miss? Anyway, it's great to see you finally pulling it together and doing a succesful association, I guess choosing your favourite team (do I remember it right?) had a lot to do with it, big kudos to you.

Quite a few things. The Spurs are, in fact, my favourite team, but I like all teams. I don't have any sorts of "rivalry" against Lakers, Mavs, or hate those teams, or anything like that. That's why all the past failures.

No support for my man Dirk - tough loss for the Mavs. Reminds me of two seasons ago when we lost vs Denver in the 2nd round (after beating the Spurs).

I will need a lot of luck man. The Thunder will make some big noise in the coming years. And have no doubt, I'll shake the roster a little in the offseason.

The Lakers were 2-0 and had a tough time, both this series and against the Grizz. Unlike real life, Gasol is having some nice stats.
