Is there a Detail Page somewhere for NBA 2K10? Explaining each Rating Stats and Game Modes in Clear details? I could barely interpret the info they give us on each Rating Information.. the Information given just seem so vague to me..
- Not really, I kind of go on forums like this one to ask questions and get answers.
I just recently started a PF on "My Player" Mode and so now every points kinda count for me since I cant make my guy go 99 on everything like on regular Roster..
- OK. I've done C, PF, SF, SG, and PG. You don't really need everything to be dominant.
Here are my Questions:
- How exactly do points in Defensive Low Post, On Ball Defense, & Defensive Awareness help your Player (My Player Mode)?
- Defensive Low Post - helps with the non-human-controlled player reactions in the post. Honestly, haven't felt a need for this ability.
- On Ball Defense - helps with the hon-human-controlled player reactions with on-ball defense, that is, your ability to defend a person when in the face-up. You don't need to boost this either, to be honest.
- Defensive Awareness - Since you're controlling the player, you are the awareness. I'd not bother with this one, either.
Does Defensive Awareness only help when you are Double-Teaming?
- Hrm... I guess it does help for that, but I tend to not want to be double-teaming. I tend to try to hang back and be available for blocks, and/or boxouts/rebounds. I don't want my man kicking out to the perimeter, LOL.
And say if I (the Controller) suck at defending in general (have hard time containing my man by positioning, often mistime blocks) would extra points in Defensive Low Post & On Ball Defense help in anyway?
- It does help, but there are more important uses of your points.
- Speed & Quickness, What are the difference? Which one increases your Running Speed without Turbo on?
Speed is your straightline running and top speed.
Quickness is your ability to change direction quickly.
Speed helps a lot, but some people swear by quickness. I'd advise speed over quickness.
- Does Quickness help you shoot, rebound, steal faster? In game it says something like "moves around the court".. isn't that Speed? or Does it help your guy get/avoid Screens better?
It might help on steals and rebounds. I haven't found a stat that avoids screens, that might be one of the awareness ones, that I fail to boost. I generally just walk around those manually.
- Do Hustle help increase your chance of Rebounding? As a PF, I just wanna know which Stat should I invest in 1st? Vertical, Hustles, Hands, Rebounds (How is the Rebound stat broken?)
Hustle helps you save balls that are flying out-of-bounds, and scramble for loose balls. If you want to rebound better, boost stats in this order:
(1) Vertical
(2) Hands
(3) Rebounds
Most important for rebounding is positioning, and boxing out (the same button as the intense-D)
- How does Stamina work? Does it only increase the time you can use Turbo? improve Stamina Regeneration Rate? anything else..?
it affects how much you can get away with running. once you play more, you understand what this means.
tip: tap turbo, instead of holding it down, get a speed boost, without wasting as much stamina
tip: taller players lose stamina faster than shorter players
- Does a Pointguard with 99 Speed run faster than a Center with 99 Speed?
I have not tested this to know. Sorry.
- Are some Drills on My Player Mode just way more economical than others? Like Shooting Drill gives 1 point into
Inside Scoring which cost 275 on its own to upgrade while Defensive Drill gives 1 point to
Defensive Awareness which cost 45 on its own.. Or am I missing something =/
Thanks for your time
You're hitting it on the head. If your player has the ability to shoot, then do the shooting drills, and use the bonus SP elsewhere.
I've found these drills easiest (for me, in this order)
1. shooting (if you have a good shooter)
2. stealing (if you have a tall, fast defender, it's easier to steal the ball with better wingspan)
3. challenge shot (if you're good at face-up defense and shot contesting)
4. driving (if you're good at getting a layup off)
Once your player reaches a certain level, you probably want to be in good enough shape to do the shooting drill as much as possible.
If you want general advice on building a big man, there is an excellent big man thread on here somewhere.
If I had to build a big man, I'd do this:
(1) C over PF (Prefer C over PF, as it is easier to dominate as a Center)
(2) Athletic (ability to dunk and move from the get-go is huge)
(3) Height (the taller, the better)
(4) Layup MAX (gets your scoring up)
(5) Dunk MAX (gets your SPs up with highlight plays)
(6) Standing Dunk MAX (gets your SPs up with highlight plays)
(7) Vertical MAX (helps your REBs a lot)
(8) Speed (don't need to MAX, but somewhere in the 70+ range is a good spot to shoot for as a big man, of course, 70 for a C is really fast, this really helps you get to the rim on drives when you're in your face-up game)
(9) Stamina MAX (helps a lot, try to get by with tapping turbo instead of holding, if you can't do this, then you'll probably boost stamina first)
(10) Hands MAX (now, you can start calling for alleys, and you don't drop as many open passes, and more highlight plays, more SPs)
(11) Consistency (if you're going to shoot, this helps)
(12) Strength (if you have trouble hanging in the post, boost this up)
(13) Ball Security (if you're having trouble getting ripped)
(14) Post shooting (now, you can get that bonus post move scoring)
(15) Mid/Three Shooting (so you can do the shooting drill)
If you want to build a player really quick:
(1) Build Dunk to 80, get Dwight Howard dunk package, make sure to set the package and dunks
(2) Get layup to 99, this boosts your scoring, make sure to set package
(3) Vertical to 99 (rebounding and shot block monster)
(4) Standing Dunk to 99 (dunk monster)
(5) Stamina to 99 (playtime monster)
(6) Dunk to 99 (even larger dunk monster)
(7) Speed to 70 (driving dunk monster)
(8) Boost Mid/Three Shooting high enough to consistently win the shooting drill (this ensures SP's from the easiest drill), don't spend SP's on shooting after this, use it on your other stats
After that, work at Hands, Consistency, Ball Security, Post Shot, Blocks, and whatever else you need
Of course, if you struggle with some things (ball security/hands) then boost those, but don't forget the core stats that will make you legend the quickest.
Seriously. I start a my player right now, first thing I do, is pump up layups to 99, then dunks to 80, unlock D12, boost vertical, get dunks/stamina to 99, and then worry about the rest.
An athletic big can contribute right away, hope this helps!
I came, I saw, but I did not conquer.
