Hot Start, Cool Finish As Warriors Overcome HeatDec 6, 2011 Oakland, CA (AP) - Joakim Noah's 14 point, 13 rebound double-double helped lift the Golden State Warriors to a 121-113 home victory over Jermaine O'Neal and the Miami Heat.
The two big men battled fiercely throughout the night with O'Neal getting the best of Noah during the early goings. 8 points in the first quarter by Miami's big man gave the Heat a 7 point edge after one as the Warriors struggled to score against the Heat's half-court interior defense.
The Warriors spread the floor and took advantage of Miami's weaker perimeter to start the 2nd quarter, a strategy that would prove to be the tide changer. Anthony Morrow rained in 4-5 three-pointers to lead Golden State in scoring with 24 points while adding 5 assists, 1 rebound and a steal for good measure. The Warriors would shoot 50% on 6-12 from downtown while the Heat connected on just 2 of 6 attempts.
Golden State continued to chip away at Miami's lead through the 2nd and 3rd quarters, saving their best for last with a 11-0 run to start the 4th. Vince Carter finished strong, scoring 9 of his 23 points in the final period also contributing 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.
"We finally figured them out in that last quarter," said Carter following the match. "You could tell on their faces they got frustrated… it was just a matter of sticking to our game plan and finishing them off." Golden State outscored Miami 37-28 in the final quarter.
The Warriors have a good five day stretch to prepare, rest and recuperate before heading off to take on the Pistons in Detroit on Monday night.
Game Notes:
- Kelenna Azubuike sat yet another game despite being cleared to play from a previous strained calf injury... Azubuike's omission from the starting lineup have sparked rumors of a pending trade, though nothing has been confirmed at this time.

Anthony Morrow red hot from downtown including this just-before-halftime ridiculous bomb

Noah throws it home with authority courtesy of Magloire's "assist" | 4 defenders? No prob for Vinsanity with the reverse layup
