how was it so obvious??

i think it's working to other team's advantages if the Cavs can't hire their #1 guy to fill the coaching vacancy

I didn't say it was obvious, because until now we didn't have anything to really draw a conclusion from. I'm not saying it was obvious all along that LeBron didn't want Izzo because it wasn't. However, after reading that report I'd suggest his position is obvious now, since LeBron having no interest in speaking to Izzo and helping the Cavs bring him to town is hardly a ringing endorsement. Assuming that report is accurate, then I think it's a case of silence speaking volumes.

unless it's Phil Jackson or Popovich showing up on the caller I.D, he's not picking up

before this all went down, a cleveland media outlet reported that Lebron James was 100% behind the Cavs hiring Izzo

Fair enough. Reading that report Confucious posted, the immediate conclusion I drew was that LeBron was not thrilled about the possibility of the Cavs hiring Izzo. It's what jumped out at me straight away, which is why I deemed it obvious.

As far as it working to other teams' advantage...sure, but I'm still trying not to get too excited about the possibility of the Bulls landing LeBron so I'm not as ready and willing to read a report like that and say "score one for Chicago", when it could just as easily be "score one for New York" or whoever. Of course I'm hoping for the best, but that hopefulness is battling some pessimism and doubt right now.

Do you think Thibodeau will be an appealing enough draw in the head coach's seat for LeBron? He's gotten such rave reviews that I'd say he could well be, more so than VDN likely would have been if nothing else.

There have been loads more reports and rumors that have spread around the internet like wildfire the last few weeks. Do I believe them? Somewhat, but only to a certain extent. So far, all the rumors are indicating that Chicago is the favored team. I believe it now that LeBron is completely not talking to Cleveland's front office. That's generally not a good thing. (Well, not for Cavs fans, that are losing their minds.)

Lebron simply doesn't want to make commitments with Cleveland, which speaks volumes. He doesn't want to get involved in the coaching search, when he's believed to have been involved in a lot of the Cavs moves the last couple years. Why the silence and non-activity lately? I genuinely think it's because he's moving on from Cleveland. He isn't going to talk to coaches because he's not going to be with the team next year. It wouldn't be his decision to make.

Thibs is building major points, I'd have to believe. A playoff year shutting down Wade, LeBron, Howard, and POSSIBLY Kobe (you have to cheer for the Celtics to win Game 7), would be EXTREMELY enticing to LeBron. He must know that he's a defensive genius, so that will make him happy. I think it'd be very appealing to him. Thibs was probably the best available coach on the market. And if James didn't want Cleveland to hire him, they probably would have heard about it from him or one of his people from his "entourage".

Quite possible, he has stated before that Cleveland has the best chance of signing him but right now it seems like he's distancing himself from the team. Right now I'm just taking any rumours that favour Chicago with a grain of salt, partly as I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but also because in situations like this, all kinds of "sources" are telling all kinds of stories.

andrew- i don't think the Thibs hiring has much to do with the LBJ decision on where he's going. as you would say, it doesn't hurt their chances

i wonder what the strategy is of PaxMan? i'm sure LBJ is the #1 priority followed by Bosh. after that i'm not sure. My inkling is they don't want to offer a max to Amare considering his injury history. that leaves: Boozer, Joe Johnson, David Lee (

i guess you could put Wade there too. how ironic would that be if Miami were to strike on the Amare, LJB, and Bosh... leaving Chicago a possible destination for Wade???!!

the finals are over. about 2 more weeks to go. let the rumor mill kick in high gear. the latest: stephen a smith was reporting that Lebron is likely to go to NYK...

Chicago best chance for James to achieve immortal status

New York wants to put bogus articles, okay, Chicago Tribune can play that game too. Though they're not claiming to be LeBron's #1 choice just yet...

He's probably going to stay in Dallas but if he is available, what about Dirk Nowitzki? I wouldn't mind that, though he's not really a long term solution. I think I favour Lee out of the three you mentioned, he's capable of 20-10 and I'd say Noah could make up for his defensive deficiencies while posting a double-double of his own. Who's your choice if it comes down to those three on the table?

i'll place Lee above Boozer. Lee seems like he'll try to prove he will be worth the contract he signed

i put Johnson last. If it's not LBJ, the bulls priority should get a post scorer. Johnson is skilled no doubt. not "worth" the max contract

Agreed on all counts. Boozer's durability concerns me a little as well, I'd much rather they bet on Lee if it comes down to that.

What about Dirk, if he's available?

that would be interesting to get dirk. he is so versatile, and can hit the tree, he could play the sf position, which means deng could play sg.
pick up lee and you have a formidable starting cast and bench.

c noah 6'11 / would love to see joel anthony 6'9 known for defense or channing frye 6'11(3pt) here
pf lee 6'9 / gibson 6'9
sf dirk 7'0 / james johnson 6'9
sg deng 6'9/ hinrich 6'3 / flip 6'3
pg rose 6'3 / law 6'3 / pargo 6'1

6th hirich
7th gibson
8th johnson
dirk could play both forward positions as well as center.

yikes!!! no longer would the bulls need to have a lineup where the sf is 6'4' or shorter. (Rose, Flip, Hinrich)

actually i think dirk would be a better pickup than james. james has so much potential that it would not force the young guys to grow up. Nowitzki is at the height of his career and as such would be a valuable veteran to teach the young big men.

Dirk is staying with Dallas, guaranteed.

These are, imo, the chances.

LeBron James: Chicago Bulls 45%, Cleveland Cavaliers 25%, Miami Heat 15%, New York Knicks 15%

Dwyane Wade: Miami Heat 85%, Chicago Bulls 15%

Chris Bosh: Chicago Bulls 37%, Miami Heat 36%, New York Knicks 14%, Toronto Raptors 13%

Joe Johnson: New York Knicks 30%, Atlanta Hawks 24%, Chicago Bulls 23%, Miami Heat 23%

Carlos Boozer: Miami Heat 50%, Utah Jazz 25%, Chicago Bulls 20%, New York Knicks 5%

Dirk Nowitzki: Dallas Mavericks 100%

Amar'e Stoudemire: Phoenix Suns 47% , Miami Heat 33%, Chicago Bulls 20%

David Lee: New York Knicks 80%, Dallas Mavericks 12% , Chicago Bulls 8%

I am kinda jumping into this a few days late, and right before my night time allergy medicine completely knocks me out, so I will be brief. In my opinion, LeBron has been dropping hints all season long about his future team. Granted, things can change, and money certainly does talk, but I feel like he has been telling us for months that he is coming to Chicago.

Like I said, my meds have me on the verge of falling out, so my mind isn't very clear (and my spelling sucks... thank goodness for spell check). None of the hints have been overwhelming in and of themselves, but when you start to put them all together, they start to speak volumes (then again, maybe I am just a delusional Bulls fan). His constant praise of MJ, his talk about retiring the #23, and himself changing his number to 6 (or at least the reports that he made an official request to the commissioners office before the playoffs), among a bunch of other things he has said, and I am not up to typing right now, have lead me to feel like he is prepping everyone for his landing in Chicago.

I guess we will see.

I am out (literally, in a few minutes)...

I'm hesitant to read into some of those comments because he made some that seem to hint just as strongly that he's staying in Cleveland or going to New York. If he does come to Chicago then needless to say I'm going to very pleased with the job PaxMan will have done heading into next season, though I just hope they have a solid Plan B in place. That looks like it's going to be the Knicks' downfall, two big free agents or bust. Hopefully the Bulls aren't going down the same road.

the bulls are pretty much have the same strategy as NYK- their roster just isn't as bad as NYK

IMO it's unlikely that James is going to Chicago. PLan B, Chris Bosh, unlikely as well

only if there's some team that will take on Deng/Hinrich's contract, i will start getting my hopes up for James & Bosh coming here

realistically i think it's either Boozer or Lee

on a side note- i can't believe the Bucks took on Maggette's salary... who would have known!?!?! shit if GSW can move that contract, why wouldn't the bulls be able to move deng's??? ;)

Personally, I think it's gonna be Joe Johnson if fails to get Lebron. I read one article that the Bulls have to mess up bad to miss on Joe Johnson.

I am thinking Chicago's chance of landing Lebron is higher than Miami, NYK, or Nets due to you guys being considerably a big market team and having a decent players. He also praises how great MJ was, so I am guessing he's a fan of the 90's Bulls. Only thing that'd stop him going to Chicago I think would be his ego since Chicago's greatest player will always remain MJ.

Anyways, let July 1st come and whoever lands Lebron, he's going to change the faith of that franchise. That's for sure. I just can't wait how it will turn out.

yeh sure but i don't think the bulls want him.. if ATL does a sign and trade and we sign Bosh.. then sure

i would not read much into that. is there a player out there that doesn't praise MJ.. other then John Starks & Craig Ehlo

Only thing that'd stop him going to Chicago I think would be his ego since Chicago's greatest player will always remain

lol that's just silly. if Shaq, who arguably has the biggest ego of any athlete for this generation, can play for the franchise that boasted all time greats like Kareem & Wilt then Lebron can suck it up. seriously, if this was the thinking for every nba player/fan... every NBA team would only have 1 great player in franchise history

Anyways, let July 1st come and whoever lands Lebron, he's going to change the faith of that franchise. That's for sure. I just can't wait how it will turn out.
July 8th i think players can sign. i wonder if the Big 3 FA's even know what they're going to do

I have to admit story of Lebron going(or not) to Chicago cuz of MJ is farfetched, though we'll never know what's really in his head.

air gordon wrote:yeh sure but i don't think the bulls want him.. if ATL does a sign and trade and we sign Bosh.. then sure

Of course, Bosh'd be a better man, but chances of landing JJ is higher than getting Bosh imo. This case goes same for all teams in the NBA I guess.

So Maggette is some all star now because he had a great fantasy bball season? Maggette's has injury issues of his own, is on the wrong side of 30, doesn't play defense

i'm not a fan myself, just read this thread lol, but Deng is a skilled player, plays both sides of the ball, not a ballhog, and is only 24. Luol deng is viewed as shit only because he's overpaid a few million $.
