fixing Joe-for-LBJ - definitely not a 'cheat' more than a correction to an error;

Nate-for-Jianlian - actually i kind of like it... BOS gets a capable PF who can give KG some valuable rest minutes that add up over the regular season and save his legs for the Playoffs; meanwhile Nets get someone who can push the tempo when Devin Harris takes a breather... not a despicable trade really... z02's "Paul Pierce for Rafer Alston?" now THAT'S despicable hah;

Yao couldn't make a basket to save his life, and finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

just like me at the park this past weekend

anyway, nice mini-steak of W's; the DEN one must've been a nail-biter! too bad about the PHX sim-loss :|

You're more than halfway to the playoffs, and have a great record. Congrats man. (Y) Hopefully you guys can secure that first seed in the West because it looks as if you're on your way to doing just that.

Well the trade benefits the Nets more than the Celtics. Yao may have been cold, but I got him to the line, and over half his points were at the line. I'm going to seek revenge against your Warriors who crushed me earlier this season.

I'm not just hoping for 1st seed, but also homecourt advantage overall. Seeing as I've only lost 2 home games this season (both simulated), homecourt would greatly help if I ever go to a game 7 in the playoffs.

The way you're currently playing, a #1 seed should be a lock for you. Keep up the good work. (Y)

Yao couldn't make a basket to save his life, and finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Yao had to make some baskets otherwise he wouldn't have 12 points. lol

EDIT: I went back and I looked at that wacky Paul Pierce / Rafer Alston trade. This was using the original 02-03 rosters when Paul Pierce was a 94 overall and Rafer Alston a 77.

Which makes it that much worse. and a few days ago I traded away two low-60's players and a 72-rated Shaq for an 83-rated Leandro Barbosa and a 90-rated Amare Stoudamire. If you give the CPU more players than it gives you and their salaries sort of match up, you're nearly guaranteed to get exactly what you want.

Well Yao only scored two baskets, the rest were FT's. The Live 10 CPU's only accept rip-offs that benefit them. Ex: I could offer Yao Ming (91 overall) for an 80/81 overall player. If it's the other way around, they don't accept, but common sense really, anybody would do that too  .

3-game recap
Warning: Clutch, please don't read the first game recap.

[40-7] Houston Rockets 108-90 Golden State Warriors [19-27]

Image
Yao went 4/18 from the field this game.

After being blown out by the Phoenix Suns, the Rockets passed the torch to the Golden State Warriors. The first three quarters were pretty exciting, but with each quarter gone, the Rockets were pulling away. Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis combined for more than 2/3 of the Warriors' points, and they payed the toll. Yao stole the Performer of the Game award from more deserving players, despite struggling all game.

You know you're struggling when K-Mart blocks your dunk attempt.

The Rockets have blown out the Grizzlies for the second straight time this season. That was due to the big 3 playing so well. Yao showed less struggle and won the Performer of the Game again, this time he was more deserving of it. Aaron Brooks had 12 points and 10 assists, while Kevin Martin had a game high 30 points. This time Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph both struggled to score. That's where OJ Mayo came to the rescue, and had a team high 27 points. Marc Gasol also stepped up on Randolph's role and had 15 boards.

Salary cap eaters sometimes just can't eat into leads right?

For the third time in a row, the Rockets blow out another team. Unlike the other two in which the Rockets played extraordinary offense, in this game the Rockets played extraordinary defense, allowing a season low 66 points. The 76ers had not made a three until the 4th quarter, where AI exploded for 3/3, but was not enough to stop the Rockets who continue to dominate the NBA.

Red Nation News Article

All-Star Selections

The All-Star voting is done, and the Red Nation is proud to announce that two of our Rockets players have been voted as All-Stars: Yao Ming and Kevin Martin, pretty shocking right? Some surprises in the selections, both West and East, are shown. Here are the rosters-

East Starters
ImageImageImageImageImage
Dwight Howard C | Antawn Jamison PF | LeBron James SF | Joe Johnson SG | Rajon Rondo PG

East Bench
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Brook Lopez | Michael Beasley | Stephen Jackson | Dwyane Wade | Mo Williams | Danny Granger | Vince Carter

West Starters
ImageImageImageImageImage
Yao Ming C | Dirk Nowitzki PF | Kevin Durant SF | Kobe Bryant SG | Steve Nash PG

West Bench
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Chris Kaman | Amar'e Stoudemire | Carmelo Anthony | Kevin Martin | Chris Paul | Tyreke Evans | Tony Parker

1st time All-Stars include-
Kevin Durant
Chris Kaman
Kevin Martin
Tyreke Evans
Rajon Rondo
Brook Lopez
Michael Beasley
Stephen Jackson

Kevin Martin will be coming off the bench, but with Rick Adelman as coach of the West (coach with the best record in the West), he's guaranteed a handful of minutes. Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was also named as coach of the East, though he doesn't have a better record than Mike Brown, coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and coach of the East last year, NBA rules state that you can't coach an All-Star team two years in a row. The pressure is on Yao and K-Mart to represent the Rockets in this All-Star game.

No one there is a complete surprise, maybe with the exceptions of Beasley or Jackson.
Looks like the West is the stronger team this year, good luck, can't wait for the recap (Y)

Surprises are the two that you mentioned, but also JJ starting over D-Wade, and Durant starting over Melo. And also, where's Tim Duncan? :shake:

You say that Martin will get a handful on minutes, though usually the coaches play their own guys less to lessen the risk of an injury. Good job though getting two guys in the ASG. (Y)

Wade burns the Rockets

Note: Since this is my last game before All-Star break, I will do a recap of it by itself.

[43-7] Houston Rockets 91-101 Miami Heat [25-26]

Image

The Rockets were handed their 8th defeat of the season by the Heat. It was a team effort, with D-Wade and Q-Rich scoring in bunches, Jermaine O'Neal beating up on the boards, and Chalmers dishing out dimes. The first half was a thrill, but the second half saw the Rockets struggling to make baskets. Dwyane Wade was all over the place, and Quentin Richardson exploded from behind the arc, and in the end, the Rockets were burnt out of Miami.

SPOTG-

Quentin Richardson went 5/10 from 3 pt territory.

Some impressive blowout victories there, hard luck against Wade and the Heat. Congrats on getting two All-Stars. :)

don't mind losing to Yao, but i'll be damned if he deserved the SPotG over Curry's 34 & 8 :cussing:

some solid wins (espec. the Philly massacre - deeamn!); weird how Wade beat you with the sub .500 Heat

Andrew wrote:Some impressive blowout victories there, hard luck against Wade and the Heat. Congrats on getting two All-Stars. :)

It's funny how all three blowouts were different, the Warriors' became a blowout quarter by quarter, the Grizzlies' was a blowout from the start of the first quarter, and the 76ers never scored 20+ points in a quarter.

The referees are to blame for the loss against the Heat. Wade was struggling throughout the whole game, but a few unfair foul calls gave him confidence to score, and Q-Rich just kept helping that fact.

I hope all goes well for K-Mart and Yao in the All-Star Game.

I thought Curry also deserved the SPOTG, no matter how annoying he was.
Well, I really got back at the game for having me lose horribly against the Suns, three blowouts is enough to get back at it right?

Even with that loss at Miami, you're still in great condition going into All-Star Weekend. (Y) The West's lineup looks perfect, except for the absence of Tim Duncan maybe, and Lopez, Beasley, and Jax all surprised me for the East.

If I lose all my games til' the end of the season, I'll still have a winning season, though I probably wouldn't make the playoffs. I think Stat and Dirk can do a good replacement job for TD.
Rookie Challenge Recap next.
