Derrick Rose did his job. But Sacramento did, too. The Bulls point guard scored a season-high 28 points, but Kings guard Kevin Martin scored 17 of his 22 points in second half, and Jason Thompson had 15 points to lead the Kings to a 96-93 victory over Chicago on Tuesday night. Kirk Hinrich (15 points) missed a three at the buzzer that would have sent the game to overtime; he made 5-of-12 shots, and all three of his free throws. “They had two guys over at me every time (in the second half),” Rose said. “When I get going, they send everybody. It wasn't easy.” The Kings survived despite early foul trouble from Spencer Hawes, who played his first game since his injury. He had 4 points and six rebounds. Thompson had 9 of his 15 points in the third quarter to maintain the Kings' six-point halftime lead.

“I think it was really a good thing that I missed these two weeks,” Hawes said. “One, for me, giving rest for my body and for the injury to leave. And two, for my teammates, that they can win without me and do a lot of great things and trust each other.” Andrés Nocioni added 11 points for Sacramento, which has won all six home games so far this season. Luol Deng had 11 points, 15 rebounds and a season-high 5 steals in support of Rose and Hinrich. The Kings are now 6-1 in November and and defeated great teams like Atlanta and Houston, giving them a new credibility after last season's fiasco of 17 wins. “We believe we're a good team,” Nocioni said. “The naysayers say we're not. This wins mean a lot. I think it's a statement game. It shows we're serious and we're contenders for a playoff seed if we continue playing like this.” Sacramento held a 14-point lead coming onto the fourth quarter, and foul-plagued Hawes hit a pair of free throws with just over a minute left. Rookie Tyreke Evans hit a jumper in the final minute to put the Kings up to stay. It's clear the Kings won tonight but it's also clear that Rose won the "Battle of Memphis" against Evans, as the fans called it: Evans posted his first career double-double with 14 points and 11 assists but Rose posted 28 and 7 assists to lead the Bulls. They had a big hug before the game tipoff.

Martin hit a long jumper to put it 80-64 in the first minutes of the last period for Sacramento, but the Bulls posted a 18-5 run, featuring six straight layups to get back in the game and be down in the score by only 3 points: 85-82. “Those things are going to happen when you're on the road. Some shots are more friendly at home, I guess,” Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro joked. Kings coach Paul Westphal said: “We defeated the Bulls at their best. It's hard for me to say the Bulls had a bad game.” Also, Jerry Stackhouse played his first game with the Bulls after being signed two nights ago. “He really played well in the second half,” Del Negro said about Stackhouse, who had 7 points in 12 minutes in his debut. The Bulls outrebounded the Kings, 47-35. Tonight was Chicago's first stop of a six-game road trip, which now continues in Los Angeles to face the Lakers, Denver, Portland, Utah and Milwaukee, before returning home on December 2nd to play against Detroit. Sacramento now starts a three-game road trip of its own in Dallas, Houston and Memphis.

No 35-point comeback for you, but at least you got the win. Things are clicking, no major change is needed.

Yep everything is going great right now. Both Rose and Deng played huge but Martin and Evans were as well.

Added a poll for a trade. Running until Friday!

DAL :: 27 • 27 • 26 • 28 • 108
[:: Preview :: Recap :: Kings Boxscore :: Mavericks Boxscore :: Click the pics below ::]

The Mavericks' Big 3 (as the media's calling them) congregated around the scorer's table during a timeout in the fourth quarter, not long before they put the game away for good. Dirk Nowitzki patted Jason Terry and Shawn Marion. They all laughed; Dallas wasn't going to lose this game. Nowitzki and Marion each scored 19 points and had 8 rebounds apiece as the Mavs beat the Sacramento Kings 108-97 on Friday night. Dallas is now 3-0 in its last 3 contests this season. “I must admit that, with Shawn we're now having a different approach. We're playing with more passion, more edge,” Terry said; the reigning Sixth Man of the Year led the Mavs with 22 points. “You got to give them a lot of credit,” Kings coach Paul Westphal said. “They played really aggressive tonight, really physical. Basically kind of took us right out of our game. I thought we lost our composure tonight a little bit as well as in previous games.”

Kevin Martin was almost unstoppable; he had a game-high 35 points and three assists for Sacramento, which was dominant in the first half. “As everyone knows, right now, I'm a King,” Martin said, when asked about the rumors that could have traded him to Dallas. “The manager knows what to do, it ain't my business. If he has to trade me, then no problem. But now I'm committed to this team and I'm playing my heart out for Sacramento.” With the Mavericks' win, Sacramento has lost after four straight wins and sits at 7-4, first place in the Pacific Division and 4th in the West, taking the opportunity of the Lakers' poor season: a never thought before, 4-8 record, last in the division and 14th in the West. “I really can't believe this is happening,” Martin added about the Lakers. “No one thought they would be at that position at any stage of the season.” One of the reasons might be Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom's career-lows of 11.9 and 8.5 points per game, respectively.

But back into the game. After trading leads all night, Dallas led 80-69 entering the fourth quarter. Drew Gooden, also, like Martin, among trade rumors because of his expiring deal, started for the first time this season and led a Mavericks charge early in the final quarter, with three straight shots, and then was fouled by rookie Omri Casspi, who scrambled at him to guard the shot. Gooden's free throw put Dallas up 87-74, and then a 3-pointer by Jason Kidd (9 points, 8 rebounds) over a minute later made it 90-74. Sacramento got within 98-90 before Dallas took over. “They made a lot more shots,” Casspi said. “We got away from our defensive game plan somewhat. We didn't defend as well as we did other nights.” Kings rookie Tyreke Evans was held to eight points on 4-of-11 shooting as he was guarded by Terry. While Terry was successful in containing Evans in the first half, Martin and Beno Udrih were let loose and shot a combined 16-of-29 to account for 47 points; Udrih's 12 points were a season-high, and Marion also had a career-high 7 blocks for Dallas. Sacramento's Andrés Nocioni (11 points) got injured with 3:47 left in the last period after he collisioned with Mavericks' Erick Dampier (6 points); he suffered a strained groin and will be out at least 3 weeks, Kings doctors said in the after-game press conference. Dallas outscored Sacramento in the paint, 48-28.

    Thierry's Blog :: The Hawes-Armstrong Contest -- The Story On Tyreke's Jumper -- Noc and Spencer's Injuries

    By Thierry Tirieux
    Kings owner & GM

      In the Bee yesterday, coach Paul Westphal set up a minutes competition between Spencer Hawes and Hilton Armstrong. As for how Spencer will fit in, he said, “We’ll see. He could help us clearly, but Hilton is doing what he does. So it’s a competition. Spencer is slowly coming back from his injury and must win that starting spot again. Hilton has been a better rebounder as of lately. They’re probably equal shooters. I think Spencer’s ahead of him defensively, because he knows all the rotations and stuff. I think it’s good. There’ll be good competition when Spencer is back in full shape.” My hunch is that Paul is posturing here -- Spencer is clearly (in this 11 games so far) a better player than Hilton, knows the system from last seasons and should be playing more than 22 minutes a game -- when he's fully recovered --. I still believe that. Hilton has been a nice mini-revelation, but his game will never have the offensive polish of Spencer’s; his hands and footwork are naturally better, and he is a much more effective finisher on screen/rolls.

      But you must give Hilton a ton of credit. He’s working his ass off, night in, night out, and he’s shooting at a huge .528% (his best percentage is .560%, last season with New Orleans). Hilton has never finished a season with an field goal percentage less than 45 percent and it's posting career-highs in all points, rebounds and assists, while matching his career-high in blocks. Is it enough to warrant a true competition with Spencer? It's most definitely enough. Spencer is the better player so far, but Hilton is doing a really hard work for his minutes. So when Spencer is “fully” back, the two competing for minutes can only be good for us.

      On Saturday, November 7th (two weeks ago), the Utah Jazz had, at one stage of the game, Andrei Kirilenko guard Tyreke Evans, and essentially ignore him. Instead of taking wide-open jumpers, Tyreke tried to use the extra space allotted him to take the Russian off the dribble for lay-ups. He shot 6-of-13 and the Kings' offense sputtered in the first half in a last shot 108-106 loss; the rally in the second half wasn't enough. After that game, Westphal applauded him for attacking the hoop instead of taking wide-open jumpers. He said of Tyreke’s way of confronting that type of defense: “I think, just because someone gives you a jump shot doesn’t mean you have to take it. I think that’s a great decision by him. I think it gives you a running start when opposition players back off, and that’s what he’s done.” And now, after another game in which now the Mavericks ignored the rookie on the perimeter, Westphal said he wants Tyreke, who has struggled with perimeter shooting as well as free throw shooting all season, to shoot when he is open.

      Tyreke was left open for a 3-pointer that could have put Sacramento down by only 5 points against Dallas, 98-93, but missed it (he ended the game 0-of-3 from 3-point land). Teams are laying off Tyreke because he has yet to prove he can hit mid-range jumpers consistently. While the coach wants his point guard to continue the flow of the offense, he said he also wants Tyreke to be more assertive offensively. “He missed one late against the Mavs, but it was great,” Westphal said. “He just stepped into the shot, but those will go in for him.” So this means, the rookie has the green light. There will be some growing pains and some ugly shooting lines, just like there were with Kevin Martin sometimes, but Kevin is paying off now with an average of 25.9 points (career-best). I still remember Martin's rookie season, ouch! 2.9 points per game. What an improvement in so few years.

      Will Tyreke’s jumper follow the same path? It’s one of a handful of questions that will determine the fate of the Kings’ season.

      - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

      Ok, now I have the latest on what was an eventful Saturday morning practice before we took our charter down to Houston. A synopsis: Spencer practiced fully with the team today so I can say he will be fully recovered for next week (as I said, be ready for the Hawes-Armstrong battle). Andrés Nocioni, as everyone knows, suffered this strained groin against the Mavs; he missed practice today to be with the team doctors. So the suspension for the DUI will be made later, I guess. This is what Spencer said today, talking about his injury: “I got a good practice; I felt pretty good, probably not 100 percent yet, but it’s getting better. I got a chance to run the last couple of days on the treadmill. I shot every day, rode the bike every day, made extra work with the assistant coaches, so I’m as confident as I’m going to be. It’s just a matter of the swelling going down. I have a lot more flexibility than I’ve had in the last few days. I saw some flashes today; I talked to the doctors, and the side effect is if it swells again. So I’ll continue to get treatment, take pills and go from there.”

      Spencer attempted to dispel any notion that due to the team’s short-handed issue of the players playing at center (only Hilton and Sean May, maybe a little of Jason Thompson there, but not much), he is rushing himself back. “Not at all. I’m coming back because I feel good. You know Andres’ going to be out now, but I don’t feel pressure at all to come back out here at 100 percent. Coach Westphal told me he's giving me less minutes than usual to not take any risks. I wouldn't go out there and play 30 minutes like before the injury. I wouldn’t do that to myself. I wouldn’t do that to my body.”

Thanks a lot bro. I gotta say I really like this short recaps, with the rewinds and blog updates. :D I'm really setting this one to go for a while and continue with the Kings; not changing teams.

LA is really playing bad :P Kobe's putting his usual 27 per game, but Odom and Gasol as I said are with career-lows, like by 6 points (N)

Tyreke Evans had the best night of his career and Jason Thompson was just unstoppable; too much for the Rockets. Evans had 15 of his 23 points in the second half to go with 5 assists and career-highs 6 rebounds and 7 steals, and Thompson added a 21-point, 15-rebound effort that helped the Kings regain winning ways with a 107-78 victory over Houston on Saturday night. Beno Udrih scored a season-high 18 points (7-of-8 from the field) and Kevin Martin posted 17 points and six boards for Sacramento. Thompson was 4-for-4 in the first quarter as the Kings ran out to a 29-24 lead at the end of it. They never trailed in the game and put it away with a 12-2 run midway through the second period. “"I just wanted to try to put pressure on the defense. I didn't think I was really that aggressive scoring the ball in the first half, so I wanted to come out and try to take over a little bit and try to put the game out of reach,” Evans said.

Aaron Brooks finished with 19 points and three assists but six turnovers for the Rockets, which lost its second straight and are posting a 4-7 record on January; they sit at 6-8 overall. “We made a small comeback in the beginning of the second, but then we couldn't get a shot to drop,” Houston coach Rick Adelman said. “But from then, it looked to me like only one squad was playing seriously.” Adelman's squad hung with Sacramento until the middle of the second period, but simply didn't have an answer for Thompson, who put together one of the best shooting games of his career as he had an 8-for-11 statline. “They got this double-digit lead at the half and in the second half we came out with no energy, not much intensity and kind of gave up. I'm not proud of that,” Brooks said. Kings' Martin and Donté Greene hit a 3-pointers each during Sacramento's game-deciding run in the third quarter; Greene finished with 8 points in 17 minutes, product of Andrés Nocioni's injury, who was placed on the team's injured list today. Trevor Ariza scored 15 points for Houston, who had Carl Landry and Kyle Lowry finishing with 10 apiece. Tracy McGrady added a season-best 17 points.

The Kings led by as many as 15 in the first half before taking a 53-41 lead into intermission, and then stretched the margin to 21 by opening the third quarter on a 8-2 run. The Rockets couldn't answer back as they were down by 19 into the fourth quarter. Udrih -- even while being guarded by Ariza, one of the best defenders in the league -- had 9 points and two assists in a 6-minute span of the last period, and his 3-pointer with 2:18 left left Sacramento up by 25. “I thought that last quarter was one of the best quarters we've played this year,” Udrih said. In the end, Sacramento simply had too much, closing the game on a 31-21 spurt. Greene hit two jumpers near the end of the quarter, and Thompson's hook shot with 53 seconds left gave the Kings an 104-75 lead. Houston was simply outscored in every stat -- except the bench points, 47-38 for them -- and even had a season-low 10 assists. “We are a lot tougher than people give us credit for,” Sacramento general manager Thierry Tirieux said. “We control our destiny. We definitely showed a lot of poise and a lot of concentration and we got it done tonight.”

Keep an eye tomorrow as I'm posting an article of the 1st NLSC draft prospect. Incredibly I asked for your infos at least 5 times but never used them in a story. :shake:

KINGS ACQUIRE DREW GOODEN AND RODRIGUE BEAUBOIS

Sunday, November 22, 2009; SACRAMENTO, CA ---- The Sacramento Kings today acquired forward/center Drew Gooden and guard Rodrigue Beaubois from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for guard Beno Udrih and forward Ime Udoka, according to Kings’ owner & general manager Thierry Tirieux. “We’re looking forward to having Drew and Rodrigue join the team,” said Tirieux. “Drew is an experienced player and Rodrigue, despite this is his first season in the league, has had some terrific moments scoring the ball for the Mavericks. We also want to thank Beno and Ime for their contributions and wish them the very best.”

Originally selected with the fourth overall pick of the 2002 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, Gooden, a 6-10, 250-pound forward-center, is currently in his eighth NBA season out of Kansas. He averaged 13.1 points (.457 FGs, .866 FTs), 8.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in 31 contests (started 27) for the Chicago Bulls last season before being acquired by the Kings on February 18, 2009, and registered a lone appearance for Sacramento -- February 25th against Charlotte, recording 12 points (5-9 FG, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, and two assists in 26 minutes -- before requesting waivers on him on March 1. Gooden has amassed career averages of 12.1 points (.470 FGs, .221 3FGs, .730 FTs), 8.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game through 490 contests, of which he has started in 395 with Memphis, Orlando, Cleveland and Chicago. He returns to Northern California where he played high school basketball at El Cerrito High in Oakland. He participated in the NBA Playoffs on three separate occasions (once with Orlando and twice with Cleveland), averaging 10.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game through 40 outings. Gooden was a key member of Cleveland’s 2007 NBA Finals team. “It feels great to be back here in Sacramento,” said Gooden. “I feel the manager, here to my left, has a good thing going on here. They gave me an opportunity last year but I didn't have time to stay in this team, and I’m just really happy to be a part of this organization, one more time!,” Gooden joked on press conference.

Beaubois (6-2, 182) was originally selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by Dallas. He was acquired, along with a second round pick, from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for the Mavericks’ 24th overall selection B.J. Mullens, and signed on July 7th. “We could not be happier with the addition of Rodrigue,” Tirieux added. “His dynamic athleticism will add versatility and energy to our backcourt. He was one of the highest-rated athletes of the draft and we always liked his style of play.” The Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe native appeared in 29 French Pro A games in 2008-09 and averaged 10.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 22.3 minutes per game. Beaubois showed marked improvement from his 2007-08 campaign when he averaged 5.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 15.1 minutes per contest. Beaubois was also a member of the Mavericks Summer League Team. “It's great to be here in Sacramento,” Beaubois said. “I think I can solidify the point guard position for the team, which is the toughest in the league to play. I know I still have a lot of levels I can go to, and I’m looking forward to seeing it come to fruition here with the Kings.”

Zach Randolph was a little quiet because of his dislocated finger, so Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo had a chance to pretend that they were the leaders of the team. “I just try to give the game what it needs. Today, I thought it needed my scoring,” Gay said after his 26 points, four rebounds and three blocks helped Memphis win two games in a row for the first time this season with a 108-100 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Pumping in the points is nothing new for Gay, who leads the team with 21.4 per game. “I had to score too, without Zach a factor in the game,” Mayo said. “Rudy and I can almost sense when we need a bucket or when he needs to take over games. We have to have the ability to do that. I think a lot of guys think that; very few can do it.” Mayo added 25 and both combined for a 20-of-31 shooting night (64.5 percent).

No King scored more than 20 points as Kevin Martin scoring 19 points for Sacramento, who have lost 2 of their last 3 after going 6-1 by the middle of November. “It was to our advantage to have Randolph more quiet, not playing in the paint so much and not blocking shots,” Martin said. “But we couldn't take advantage of that. They played great defense in the second half.” Tyreke Evans had 15 points and eight assists, and Omri Casspi and Donte Greene had 14 points apiece for the Kings. “Both Tyreke and Omri are coming along great. They are really into this team and have earned their minutes,” Sacramento coach Paul Westphal said. “I told Omri to make the most purpose of this minutes because Andres (Nocioni) will be back in the starters when he recovers from his injury.” Randolph, who only missed Memphis' last game (a 103-78 win against Milwaukee) because of the dislocated finger not healed yet, had 15 points and three rebounds. He suffered the dislocated finger at Philadelphia last week, where the Grizzlies lost 123-89, with Allen Iverson scoring a season-high 35 points. “He was sick to play against Milwaukee. He was really bad, the finger was really bad,” Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins said. “For him to be out of any game, especially today, he's got to be pretty bad.”

Kings acquisitions, Drew Gooden and Rodrigue Beaubois, had 4 and 7 points, respectively, in the first games with Sacramento. Jamaal Tinsley, signed after Iverson reached a buyout with Memphis, scored 12 points and 10 assists in only 22 minutes, and Marc Gasol had 12 points and ten rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season in 14 games. “Zach wasn't here against the Bucks, and the initial thing is to say, 'Hey, I get his minutes and I've got to do the things Zach does,'” Gasol said. “But Zach stayed within himself and did the little thing; he couldn't be very active scoring but he boxed out and played great defense and rebounded.” Sacramento led by 9 at the end of the first quarter, 23-14, before Memphis scored 11 of the first 13 points of the second period to tie the game at 25. A 15-2 run by the Grizzlies on the third quarter sealed the game and the fourth period was a mere formality. The Grizzlies outscored the Kings on the paint, 46-30 and had 33 assists on 43 field goals. Also, both teams shot over 55 percent.

Thanks man. As hova said before (thanks for the help :wink:) I'm now trying to acquire expiring contracts as Gooden, might not trade Thomas after all.

Getting even less replies than before. Great :|
