Jefferson delivers on Thanksgiving as Wolves hand Warriors 10 straight loss
Image

Minneapolis, MN - Coming into the game, one thing was certain - one team's losing streak will end while the other's will continue.

Al Jefferson and the Minnesota Timberwolves (5-10) ended their losing streak at 3 with a 114-111 victory over the helpless Golden State Warriors (3-12) who have now dropped their 10th straight game.

Jefferson dominated with 35 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in 35 minutes of play; Shooting a respectable 15 for 25 from the field and going 5 for 8 from the charity stripe. Behind him and Hasheem Thabeet, who had 15 rebounds to go alongside 6 points and 3 rejections, the Wolves dominated the inside against the smaller Warriors.

"It was just one of those nights" said Jefferson "Hasheem and Paul (Millsap) helped me out a lot inside, and i just got the J flowing"

Golden State was led by Shawn Marion, who had 25 points and 13 rebounds in the loss, he was 11 for 19 from the field while Monta Ellis chipped in 24 points and 7 assists on 10 for 15 shooting.

Jordan Farmar had 11 points, 12 assists and 6 rebounds, while Andris Biedrins added 10 points and 15 rebounds despite being out-muscled by the Minnesota frontcourt.

"Tough loss," said Warriors coach Don Nelson "We played hard, played well but they got the better of us"

The game was tightly contested well until the very end, with Al Jefferson tipping in a Randy Foye miss to

Heading into the game, one of the more anticipated features was the matchup of the two rookies - Minnesota's Will Sit and Golden State's Martti Must. Both of them delivered big time performances and played huge roles in helping their team.

Sit had 29 points, 9 assists, career high 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 rejections in 32 minutes of play, the point guard was 11 for 33 from the field but shot just 2 for 13 from deep. His 29 points was just 2 shy of his career high while Golden States' big man dropped in 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in 29 minutes of play, shooting 10 for 22 from the field and going 2 for 5 from deep. Must's 23 points is 7 shy of his career high of 30.

"We have this little rivalry going on, and it's fun" said Must "Playing against him brings out the best in me. I just don't get how he can fire up 33 shots though"

Sit responded with "He's lucky i didn't hit all 33 of those shots. Next time i play against him though, I'm gonna shoot the lights out"

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

"I had a lot of good looks out there tonight, they just weren't dropping. You get that sometimes. I'm a scorer and the only way I can score is by putting up shots. They were good. They just weren't falling. It's just another night."

"Even though I had a tough night, I still had 29 and I had 9 dimes as well. That's All-Star numbers right there."

"Martti Must is lucky my three ball wasn't going, I could have had 60 points if I scored."

"I shut down Jordan Farmar really good tonight."

"I was missing on purpose so that Al (Jefferson) could have a big game. It was all a decoy setup."

Well, my punchline is: Fresh is in the building! whenever I arrive for my interviews.

Then at the end I always say 'Stay Fresh, keep it real!'

Sad... but true.

Lamrock/Valor know me too well. In games where I put up a terrible shot/brick/airball I usually call a miss. If a teammate gets the board and scores, I go and high five them and sometimes yell out, 'nice pass' or 'what an assist.' LOL
